Having flirted with an Urban soaked sound on previous outings, ‘Free’ boasts a more Pop/ EDM taste. Is it progressive? We vote “no”. However, it’s clear Ariana is playing “the game” and making the right power moves to broaden her audience. As such, when framed this way, we’re not mad at her at all. And, if it’s any consolation, it’s awesome to still hear her incredible voice pierce through the genericity of the production.
I’m mad at myself for actually liking this song considering I don’t like dancey stuff. But on the real though, I wish Ariana would stick with the more urban driven uptempos and leave this generic dancey stuff to the lessers.

Ive been obessed with her all week. She is promoting so hard from her album cover to teasing the new video & her TRL show. Her new style & sound is so good but i didnt know she was such big LGBT Supporter & her bother is Gay as well & he’s on the new season of Big Bother & she even has transgender friends witch helps me love her way more then I already did.

It was lackluster and a bit boring. I like Zedd’s contribution but I do not like the vocals or lyrics from a first listen. It does sound very been there done that sound wise.

I knew it was only a matter of time before she sold out to EDM/pop. Her using Keyshia Cole producers and trying to be a sugary version of Jojo was all a facade to see if she could carve out a lane that separated her from the other dorky Disney-pop dorks of her generation. It didn’t work, they saw she couldn’t be Mariah and so now she went ahead and accepted being Selena Gomez’s contemporary.
Cute, but not cute enough. It is not even that strong to be a single, so I don’t think (as of today) that she will be getting my $1.29 out of my PayPal account. Problem is better (no shade: Iggy made the song).

I love the song. Sure it sound similar to other EDM songs but this is a hit. Given Ariana’s fanbase and how big “Problem” was, whether you guys like it or not this song will more than likely be a Top 10 song or it could even go #1 within weeks. And watch how Ariana will score another #1 album. Her team is doing everything right, promotion wise and there is a lot of buzz around her. Most of your faves who actually do promo to great extent still flop. Ariana is winning and if it bother most of you that much. Then so be it. Stay pressed.

It doesn’t matter what “style” of music Ariana makes, because ultimately I’m too grown to be her fan. That little girl was born in 1993…the year Clinton took office, Jurassic Park, “Hip Hop Hooray,” and SWV’s “Weak.” That was basically yesterday…and her target demographic are probably 5-8 years younger than her; turn of the century babies who only just stopped wetting the bed. She can do makeshift R&B or cheap dance/aerobics-EDM and it’ll all still seem like cartoons to me.
Basically how I feel about it too. It was almost (keyword: “almost”) charming to see a newcomer of her age group make music that was somewhat reminiscent of a BETTER time in music, before all this EDM and Electro crap took over, but truth be told I’m not going to buy anything she makes no matter how it sounds. She’s for 8th graders. I’m not her audience.

This will do great on iTunes first week but then it’ll fall off the charts. It will be another one of those dated EDM singles that is heavy on payola but a mess in sales/streaming. Pretty sure the rest of the album won’t sound like this but I hope it isn’t as bad as Problem, either. The Way was a much better lead single IMO.
I think it was a good play to the masses though. It’s not as messy as GUY, but a little dated. The production isn’t as fresh as Summer.

Even judging by EDM standards this song is REALLY basic. She should’ve made a pop song or stayed urban. Miley Cyrus used WCS urban sound as a warm up, it reached number 2, then she released a Dr Luke song and she went to number 1.
