Elijah Blake: “I Want To Be The Voice For The Gentlemen”

Diddy‘s ‘Revolt‘ invited R&B singer Elijah Blake to its manor earlier this week, calling on the star to share details on his forthcoming EP ‘Drift’ before its release later on this year.

While there, the performer weighed in on his own single ‘6′, detailing his physically abusive childhood and how it affected the man he has become today, now determined to give a voice to the gentlemen of the world.

Watch here!

Nice!

With Drake being to bros what Beyonce is to women, here’s hoping Camp Blake makes a number of moves within the next few months to turn him into R&B’s female friendly but bro-approved boy next door.

For as anyone who’s listened to 2012’s ‘Bijoux 22’ will know, Blake’s themes dig deep into the contemporary male experience in ways many of his more celebrated contemporaries have been unable to without seeming like try-hards.

With this mind, we can’t wait to hear what he dishes up on ‘Drift’ and hope its numbers are closer to the likes of ‘Vicky’s Secret’, ‘Runnin’ Blind’ and Everything’.

Songs, that while aren’t as thought provoking as ‘6’, make for a far more enjoyable listen because of the restraint he shows them, gliding through lyrics and melodies that are accessible to all on a vocal tip!

I hate when people say things like He needs to be what girls like but at the same time (bro’s) should like him to, WTF? Lol Or maybe he should just take his a*s on shows like #SoYouThinkYouCanDance or #DanceingWithTheStars & then go on to do the big show like #TheVoice & #Idol like Jason Derulo did. Lots of people watch tho’s shows in Large numbers & the young kids & old people that can relate to him would see him & buy his stuff. He wouldn’t need to be marketed like the boy next, he would just blow up like Every other Super Star. His music is really good he just needs alot of people to see him at once – but all kinds of people young & old.

Excuse me sis, but maybe you should do your research. Jason Derulo was looked at like weak sauce before he started targeting dudes. People rock with him now but didn’t before when his fan base was made up of girls.

When Derulo came out, he was boring with nothing special that separated him from everybody else. Now, that he’s targeting n*****, he went from boring to straight garbage. He’s no Usher or, anything.

Every artist needs context babe so even though I know what you mean he DOES have to have a gimmick that makes him stand out.
      Rihanna’s the bad girl.
      Beyonce’s the all american girl
Jay is the elder statesman who you relate to and respect.
      Drake is every dude’s homebody.
Katy is the cookie cutter pop princess.

I hate gimmicks. They’re really gimmicky. LOL Why can’t these ppl just stand out because of their music? I know why…it’s because they’re music sucks and that’s why they need those gimmicks.

I’m sorry but he wont ever make it big. He’s not s*** enough for the girls, cool enough for the hipsters, tough enough for the guys or deep enough for musicians/soul heads. But on the bright side, he will continue to be a fixture at TGJ along with rita ora 🙂

Not you thinking your opinion is automatically fact because you said it. His EP got 15 million views and his new video is on 14k on YT so people obviously care but I’m sleep though. Where he f**** up is that his promo is bad, he didn’t do any real promo for his ep and he hasn’t done any live performances of his new songs.
