‘Hot Right Now’ collaborators Rita Ora and DJ Fresh seem to have taken different paths since releasing the single in 2012, according to the latter.
In an interview with ‘Digital Spy‘, Fresh revealed that why he and rapper Tinie Tempah have placed music at the forefront of their careers, Ora’s continued work in fashion and film have seen her become more interested in being a celebrity than a musician.
His words below…

I think some people kind of put that to the back of what’s important to them. Some artists are much more focused on being big public celebrities than they are on actually making their music.
“I guess for me and Tinie we’re both focused on our music, it’s great when that’s the case and you can get the opportunity to not have those issues with record labels, and all the stuff that shouldn’t really affect music.”
When asked to elaborate on the kind of artist more focused on being “public celebrities”, DJ Fresh said: “I guess someone like Rita Ora. Obviously I’ve worked with her but I think that’s a different sort of artist.
“It’s somebody who’s kind of doing film and fashion shoots and is much more diversified and not so focused on being an artist. Then you get people like Jack White who’s completely the opposite. Different strokes for different folks.
Unfortunately, we can’t say we disagree.
Sure Rita is wildly talented and far more gifted than she’s given credit for at times, great effort has gone into hitting the fast forward button on her career’s remote control in a bid to turn her into a Rihanna-sized superstar.
This wouldn’t be a problem if just as much effort was made to release material just as epic as the moves she makes in fashion and film.
However, it doesn’t seem to have dawned on Ora that Rihanna only became Rihanna when she could be depended on to release consistently stellar music, celebrated for her success with ‘Pon De Replay’, ‘SOS’, ‘Unfaithful’ and ‘Umbrella’ before using fashion to up her celeb score in the period between ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ and ‘Rated R.’
Here’s hoping Rita sees the light before it’s too late. If not, she’ll have some serious ‘splainin to do if her US debut doesn’t pull in numbers an artist with as much as backing as she’s garnered should.
After all, why walk in Kim Kardashian‘s shoes when you have all the tools you need to walk in Beyonce‘s.

Her problem is she lacks her own identity and with that confusion it makes her not know what to put out.
She has tried to fast track herself by not letting the craft build her reputation as an artist.
It’s ok to dabble and get the coins but when it’s all said and done she shouldn’t have to be known as the singer who dated Rob Kardashian and got stomped over musically by Calvin Harris after a failed relationship.
She got to have a solid music team where no pleasures are in the mix and put out some pop charting music. She got a decent voice, sounds great on the Iggy track so she much use that and put music 1st.
To much faking it and not enough making it but she still got time to recover but always a new new round the corner.

But isn’t this the only way Roc Nation is making money off of Rita Ora? From my understanding, they are not only her label but her management too. She has wasted a lot of good songs like RIP and Radioactive, and seeing that Calvin has put a block on his material, the only way Roc is recouping their expenditures on this girl is through that 10 to 20% commission managers get.

So rather make her a “celebrity” and rely on commissions, which is pretty much Roc’s business plan or continue to try and push music and continue flopping, I think I’d go for the option that will actually bring me money.
Yea I agree. 2012 was a great year for her musically, and I actually want to hear this new album, but yea now it’s like fashion and endorsement deals and films and now The Voice UK. A lot of stuff and now the album is being pushed back…

As a child of Gwen & Bey, I see it for Rita. She’s featured on one of the hottest records in the world right now. All she needs to do is buckle down, finish the album and release single #2. And when the strength of her music matches the hype, she will finally have her moment.
