Damn, Iggy’s promo game is on point now. Where was this hunger when Work came out? Work and Change Your Life>>>>Fancy. As for the Aaliyah movie, I’m still on the fence about it. I wish Zendaya was still playing her though. Calling her the Princess of R&B seems unnecessary and will lead to messy debates on how big her impact really was.

    • Mark111 October 2, 2014

I’s a well known fact that Aaliyah is the Princess of R&B. Along with Brandy and Monica, but Aaliyah brought WAY more to the genre.

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

How is it a fact when none of her flop statistics back it up?

      • SMH October 2, 2014

Because there is no uproar to make a movie about Brandy or Monica.

      • Mimi Carey October 2, 2014

        Because they aren’t dead.

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

@Mimi Carey facts only. I’m sure there would have been if one if them died tragically.

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

Where have you been for the past 20 years? Everyone refers those 3 as the Princess, the 3. Aaliyah came out first and set the trend, the others just followed. You guys are Keri and some dropped artist stans, your opinion clearly don’t matter.

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

I’ve heard many people called that nickname. That doesn’t mean it’s worthy. And I’m not a stan of a dropped artist.

      • Enough October 2, 2014

Mark is speaking nothing but the TRUTH.

      • Anne October 2, 2014

I don’t think Brandy & Monica followed in Aaliyah’s footsteps. Pretty much all 3 made their impact around the same time period. I think Brandy had the most commercial success of the 3. Also, even though they had to team up to get it, Brandy & Monica have a Grammy while Aaliyah did not get one at all. I guess it would be okay to call all 3 a Princess of R&B but I agree that none of them are worthy of a movie and the only reason why Aaliyah is getting one is because of her tragic death. Now some people are trying to exaggerate her success.

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

Just because someone dies doesn’t mean they get recognition there are plenty of stars that have passed that get the recognition or love Aaliyah has gotten or receiving now, it’s dumb to say people only care because she passed it’s obvious she has touched and inspired many people with her style, music, and personality. I heard people call her the princess of R&B while she was alive.

    • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

death at a keri stan when her highest certification is gold Aaliyah shitttts on your fav with only one album so shut the fuccckk up because will never question what keri is titled

  2. KimmyBlanco October 2, 2014

So they got Iggy a placement on this sham of a movie. Cute. Too bad she doesn’t like black people.

    • TheTruth October 2, 2014

Yes she hates blacks so much she’s dating one. Smh internet f@&$

      • KimmyBlanco October 2, 2014

What color was Donald Sterling’s girlfriend?

      • Sweetnothings78 October 2, 2014

        Well said.
I have a dislike for false info.
        *troll above*

      • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

Yawn. Here we go again with people throwing the racist card without knowing the true meaning of it. Have several seats.

      • Baduizm05 October 2, 2014

There are many ways to skin a cow sis, she dissed almost every race and even came for the gays and lesbians so sit.

  3. WolfJames92 October 2, 2014

Yaaassss Iggy PrejudiceZalea better get that coinage.

  4. Soriah October 2, 2014

Good thing there were no “dykes”, “homos” or “popeyes” eating black men in this 2bh. Iggy woulda turned it down.

    • @PrettigurlrockD October 2, 2014

lol some of y’all must be the same people writing these race comments.

      • Yew med? October 2, 2014

Yeah I’m starting to think the same thing. It’s a damn shame…

  5. Lana Del Bae October 2, 2014

Did someone say the Iggy racism drama is “false info.” Please don’t make me laugh, everyone has seen the screen grabbed tweets so please don’t embarrass yourself by pretending that you haven’t seen them too.

    • VisionofMimi October 2, 2014

Poor thing didn’t think anyone would go back that far but they did.

      • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

Iggy, her career, her black friends and black boyfriend seem unbothered so try again.

      • SMH October 2, 2014

Because her black “friends” are using her stupid racist ass to get rich. It’s called manipulating the situation. The best way to punk a kracker is to make money off of them.

  6. Molly October 2, 2014

An Aaliyah movie yet they’re using Iggy music? lol #Flopliyah

    • @PrettigurlrockD October 2, 2014

      Flopara *sips t*

    • Aaliyah_Rihanna October 2, 2014

I’m sorry did you just call Aaliyah A flop when your fave can’t even sell 60,000 copies of her album? lmfao bye b****

      • Molly October 2, 2014

I need to know why they’re using Iggy’s music instead of Thotliyahs

    • Yew med? October 2, 2014

I can assure your worthless ass Ciara will NAUGHT be receiving accolades, a movie or even a pamphlet after she dies.

      • Molly October 2, 2014

Ciara also won’t be a dumb b**** who dies in an airplane for over packing! LMAO!

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

And even not making that mistake has gotten Ciara anything in life besides floppage left and right.

      • FutureCIARA October 3, 2014

        SCREEEEEEEAMING!!!
        Dragggggggggggg baby @Molly

    • Aaliyah_Rihanna October 3, 2014

there using Iggy’s music because they don’t havwle the rights to Aaliyahs music so stfu talking s*** your fave got her whole style from Aaliyah like how can you diss someone your fave worships. your really a sick person making fun of someone who died in a horrible & terrifying way

  7. KING OF F A G G OT S October 2, 2014

    NOT HERE FOR IT!
    THE TITLE IS MISLEADING!
AALIYAH BARELY WAS THE JANITOR OF R&B LET ALONE THE PRINCESS. NO GRAMMYS, NO NOTHING. HARDLY SOLD ANY ALBUMS. SHE WAS LOCAL AND KNOWN FOR SLEEPING WITH MEN DOUBLE HER AGE. SHE HAS A CUTE DISCOGRAPHY BUT NOTHING AMAZING. A LIFETIME MOVIE IS A JOKE. COULDN’T EVEN GET HER A NETFLIX DEAL. I CAN’T WITH THESE THROWBACK H*** (TLC, AALIYAH, ECT) TRYIGN TO REVIVE SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY DEAD AND BURRIED.

    TRY AGAIN

    • Molly October 2, 2014

“Janitor of R&B” Screams!!! you better clock that OVERRATED H**!

    • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

Fans get all wrapped up in those titles, idk why they added that to the movie. Aaliyah didn’t sell like other R&B acts from that time but sales don’t always lead to impact. Paula Abdul probably sold more then Nirvana but we all know who had a bigger impact on music. Just food for thought

      • Riri October 2, 2014

lmao thats not what u say when Beyonce on ur lips…

      • wtf?! October 2, 2014

I can’t stand you young f****, and I really mean that. Technology Obsessed idiots!

    • Naomi October 2, 2014

Death you better drag ha. I saw no lie though.

    • RICHIE_RICH October 2, 2014

All T, All SHADE…Why you think it took them so long to make a movie about her?

    • wtf?! October 2, 2014

Tbh, u young people and your generation are the root cause of evil happening nowadays! I swear your parents are full of s***!

    • Anne October 2, 2014

She’s getting this movie because of her tragic death at such a young age. She deserves it about as much as Selena and Ritchie Valenz (La Bamba)did. All three were established recording artists who died in their teens or early 20’s, two in a plane crash and one murdered. I hope the Aaliyah movie will be as good as the other two but I seriously doubt it because they will probably be walking on egg shells to be respectful and the production probably won’t be as good. Still, it looks like it will be worth watching.

  8. Molly October 2, 2014

Iggy isn’t racist either y’all need to sit tf down with that b*******.

    • TurntUp4Cici October 2, 2014

So how do you explain the things she said?

      • Molly October 2, 2014

She obviously said some foolish comments back in the day but she’s far from racist.

      • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

Ignorance and stupidity aren’t the same a racism. Try a dictionary VisionOfMimi/RemyMadeMe/LanaDelBae/any other corny screen name you can come up with

      • Molly October 2, 2014

Death @Keri you better clock her.

    • BeachHouseBritney October 2, 2014

I don’t think she is anymore but she definitely was back then.

      • Molly October 2, 2014

        Girl I guess

  9. OneInAMilian October 2, 2014

I can’t believe they used that girl’s music in baby girl’s movie.

  10. Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

I cant at the same person using multiple screen names to push this tired “Iggy is a racist” claim lmao. Find something productive to do or at the very least stay on topic (Aaliyah).

    • Molly October 2, 2014

Lol the struggle the can’t take Iggy so they wanna bring her down.

      • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

Lmao for real. *Plays Don’t Need Yall for them*

    • KimmyBlanco October 2, 2014

Not quite honey, I am my own person and even still, it’s not as though they’re lying. She did say those things.

    • SMH October 2, 2014

Truth hurts, don’t it. That’s why the biitch’s album is flopping. Nobody buys records from a fake racist rapper.

  11. NadiaMaraj October 2, 2014

OK, serious question girls. Do we all acknowledge that Iggy said racist and homophobic s*** back in the day?

    • Dark Horse October 2, 2014

Back in the day people say stupid s*** all the time. She can’t be racist when she’s taking black d*** every night.

      • HausMuthaAdele October 2, 2014

You can be racist and still be sexually attracted to the people you’re racist towards. Sterling’s chick was biracial and didn’t s**** masters mix with their black slaves? I think Iggy was stupid back in the day and regrets what she said which is all she can do.

      • Skyfall October 2, 2014

Yes you can s**** masters f***** slaves all the time.

    • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

Serious question: how is this relevant to the topic of Aaliyah’s legacy or the movie? What’s the point in bringing it up, though the motives are crystal clear.

  12. Dark Horse October 2, 2014

Aaliyah is that much of a non factor that they’re playing Iggy’s music. Lol that’s hilarious.

  13. Skyfall October 2, 2014

    *RANDOM
I want them to remake “Queen of the Damned” with Rihanna playing Queen Akasha. Also they should try to make the movie better and focus more on Akasha than Lestat and that other b****.

    • ChampagneMami October 2, 2014

Queen of the Damned- Starring Rihanna’s overused vagine.

    • Dark Horse October 2, 2014

No one cares r**** can’t act just like Adele can’t lose weight.

      • Skyfall October 2, 2014

Just like Katy can’t sell out concerts

  14. Draggin4MrsCarter October 2, 2014

We’re still pretending that Iggy isn’t racist? OK we can play that game. Oops, we can’t. We can’t because she said that the black people in her country don’t like to live in houses and would rather sleep under the stars.

    • Keri Krew Kween October 2, 2014

That statement doesn’t fit the definition of racist. Stupid maybe. Politically incorrect even. But not racist. Try again boo

  15. Applause October 2, 2014

This movie is gonna flop harder than OTR HBO special. Funny how she’s the princess of r&b when Brandy and Monica were outselling her when she was alive yet they don’t have that title.

    • NOLIES October 2, 2014

Probably bc no one cares about the murders… Monica killed her bf & Brandy can’t drive. They then turned around and killed Whitney. Aaliyah was the sacrafice.

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

But Aaliyah had already surpassed them in the 00s which is why her 1st week sales for her last album are higher than any Brandy or Monica have the last decade.

  16. Skyfall October 2, 2014

Why is Molly always riding someone else’s coattail you can’t stand alone b****, & Death at you calling Aaliyah overrated when your fav is a mix of Her and Janet. Aaliyah’s influence is all over these new R&B hos as well as her style. Aaliyah the b**** who has a solo sold more than your fav will ever for the remainder of her career. Aaliyah will forever be ahead of Ciara in every way. And you will deal

    • Applause October 2, 2014

Why are you always stalking molly look I don’t care for the troll but you flops stay seething over her.

      • Skyfall October 2, 2014

Because it is always running it’s mouth, but never has anything to say unless of course it has someone to his under. They second half of the comment was for all ciara Stan’s btw

  17. Applause October 2, 2014

    Y’all better leave IGGY alone.

    • SMH October 2, 2014

Fukk that racist kracker biitch. She can go straight to hell with her flopped album sales.

    • Mark111 October 2, 2014

This version was better than the dubbed one. I played them side by side at the same time and the undubbed added more.

      • Skyfall October 2, 2014

I agree, her head voice is everything.

  18. Molly October 2, 2014

Why does Skyfall always feel the need to address me? Still mad cause I rejected your ass on Twitter? I don’t like you you’re a lame stop reading my comments cause I don’t read yours. #GetALife

    • Skyfall October 2, 2014

Death you obviously read them if you making this comment, but didn’t I block you on twitter? And of course you wouldn’t reply to me but make a new comment hoping I would see it. Where’s Lovebird & Rosie they need their asses cleaned.

      • Molly October 2, 2014

If they need their asses clean then go clean it isn’t that what you f ags do? You are another pathetic b**** on this site obsessing over me because you cannot take me. Shouldn’t you be on Twitter begging people to follow your lame ass back?

      • Molly October 2, 2014

        B**** f*** you stank h**, Ciara>>>> d******** all day. Where’s Deadliyahs Grammy? #KeepSeething

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

But Ciara career only lasted 5 years while Aaliyah even in death has lasted longer which is tragic.

  19. Naomi October 2, 2014

Dead @ them using Iggys music.

  20. Molly October 2, 2014

B****** over here stressing over my comments live your life stop worrying about wtf I gotta say.

  21. Skyfall October 2, 2014

I have a feeling this movie will be a hot mess, I’ll still watch though.

    • Molly October 2, 2014

Hot mess like Rihannas vocals? or like Adeles diabetes?

      • Skyfall October 2, 2014

No hot mess like Ciara records sales or your walls.

      • Molly October 2, 2014

My walls are fine thank you for worrying, Why does Rihanna sound like a goat with 10 inch c*** in her a***? Why does Adele look like she ate her son? Hot mess like Aaliyah opening her legs at 15 to married men. #KeepItCute

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

Aaliyah actually got married tho Ciara didn’t.

    • Nicki Is Queen October 2, 2014

      What’s your twitter boo? O:

  22. Love Life October 2, 2014

Absolute mess. And the ‘princess of R&B’ part is just tacky.
But why am I surprised when Wendell Williams is the producer.

    • Brian310 October 2, 2014

There is no high expectations with this movie but the title is not the problem because most people called her that, hell murder Inc. Tried to replace her by bringing out Ashanti calling her the new princess of r&b

  23. Special Delivery October 2, 2014

    #NotHereForIt

  24. Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

Can’t wait to see what the movie has to offer. Hopefully it want be as faced pace and cheap as TLC’s biopic

Anyways I CAN’T stand iggy. I don’t see how this b**** is racist, but she’s trying her hardest to look and sound like a black woman. She is a FAIL! The chorus of her songs are always better than her WEAK versus! She’ll be irrelevant by next year, After NIcki gets through slaying her! 😀 😀

    • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

I agree. Iggor is so lame.

    • Molly October 2, 2014

Hopefully it does better #s than that HBO flop special 🙂

    • Mark111 October 2, 2014

The TLC film was not cheap, it was good. One of my favorite part was when they snapped on Beyonce, I mean, the lead singer of another group at the grammys with a green dress.

      • Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

Chili already confirmed that it wasn’t Beyonce on twitter last year! If it was Beyonce we all know who got the last laugh! Try agian.

      • Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

        @DickRider AKA Molly

The nerve of you to be worried about Bey’s HBeyO ratings when Ciara hasn’t even sold 888,000 with her past three albums combined.

        You are a fool!

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

        ^Clocked!

    • Molly October 2, 2014

The iggy is rasist shade is tired, almost as tired as Beyfraudces dance routines, or as tired as her stripping every change she gets kii. #BeytheStripper.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this movie did better than her flop HBO special, but nothing can be as bad as Rihanna’s canceled show.

  28. lostOne October 2, 2014

I will not tune in to watch this movie for the simple fact that they didn’t respect Aaliyah’s family wishes by not making it all together. .how can u have a movie about someone and not use their music

We don’t care, d******** was a flop and this movie will follow suit.

  29. Mimi Carey October 2, 2014

Since when did she become the princess of R&B?

    • SMH October 2, 2014

      Since 1996.

      • Mimi Carey October 2, 2014

The delusion….people are fascinated by her death at such a young age.

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

There are plenty of young artist that die but don’t get the acclaim or love she has gotten.

  30. Mark111 October 2, 2014

Why a Uggly song? She didn’t capture Aaliyah’s dance moves nor essence. For the haters, it’s a clear fact that Aaliyah was/is the Princess of R&B, this is nothing new. And for that Cerror trash, they didn’t have the rights to her music, so they CAN’T use her music. So go worry about your dated Queen of Crunk n B hot mess. lol

    • Yonce October 2, 2014

Iggy more relevant then flopliyah lol hahahaha

    • Molly October 2, 2014

      Ciara >>> D********

How’s she the queen/princess with no Grammies even the yodeling goat Riherpies has about 6 Grammies.

      Hell Ashanti >> Holiyah

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

Grammys doesn’t mean s***. Tupac nor Biggie have grammys, nor Dianna Ross. You can make an impact without a stupid trophy. BTW, Ciara’s grammy is MISSY’S grammy for a video, so don’t go there. Baby Mama didn’t even get a nom this year.

      • Brian310 October 2, 2014

Aaliyah is a better singer, more original, made much more acclaimed music, and was a more commercial success.

  31. Molly October 2, 2014

Living for the Thotliyah shade the b**** was beyond overrated

@Ritchie She has been living and singing for over 15 years, Aaliyah unfortunately only got 7 years…i would hope Beyoncé would have made more money than her, the fact that you tried to use that hat as shade is shading you and your fav

  35. Skyfall October 2, 2014

You can crack jokes at my favs (Rihanna, Adele, Mariah) call them hos, goat, fat etc. but the fact still remains that they all are superior to Ciara, each have had eras outsell Ciara’s entire discography.

  36. Sippin with Cici October 2, 2014

This tramp isn’t the princess of r&b! Her nasty ass doesn’t even have Grammy Aaliyah stans need to sit down we all know y’all are jealous of Ciara… Ciara is a much better artist then Aaliyah ever was its a fact.

    • Mark111 October 2, 2014

      Hahahahahahaha #TheDelusion

      • Brian310 October 3, 2014

  37. Skyfall October 2, 2014

“Rihanna can’t sing” she can fix that
“Adele is fat” she can get that fixed as well

But Ciara will always remain a Hermaphrodite

    • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

Brandy, Monica, Alicia Keys, Beyonce are all more worthy of that title in one shape or form than Aaliyah. I’ve heard them all called that at some point as well as Aaliyah.

      • Skyfall October 2, 2014

How so what influence on today’s culture have they made?

      • Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

I like Aaliyah but her music isn’t that memorable. Maybe a song or three. The only reason they give her that title is because she died. Brandy, Monica, and DC were more impactful.

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

@Skyfall are you serious? Especially Alicia Keys and Beyonce there’s not even a need for an explanation. And in terms of R&B… Brandy has sold more than Aaliyah and had more R&B hits than Aaliyah. As well as music. I want to see this major influence on culture that Aaliyah supposedly had, that she didn’t get from Janet originally. Tomboy? That was already being done in the 90s by TLC. What’s so ‘outstanding’ that she deserved the title of princess. She had some cute music but it was nothing outstanding. I’m sorry, it is what it is.

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

Beyonce was called a pop princess and is more pop than R&B. AK is piano & soul and has been called the Quuen of that or the Princess of soul at the start of her career. Brandy was nothing more than a t*** star, she done nothing more than these disney girls are doing and disappear when they grow up (Duff) and Monica has always been an underdog. Matter of fact, Brandy and Mo even said that with Aaliyah coming out, gave the green light for their labels to push out their albums. S I T. T H E. F U C K. D O W N.

      • Applause October 2, 2014

The hive acts like Beyonce music is memorable lol

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

@Mark111. The same wiki page you used listed them all as Princess of R&B as well as Aaliyah.

      • Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

Beyonce is urban/pop/R&B. She has NEVER abandoned her R&B roots in any of her albums. 4 was an R&B album released when EDM was topping the charts. Bey can do it all and sale either way!

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

In fact, Beyonce and Alicia Keys were both referred to as Queens of R&B on that page. Do you agree with that? Clearly not based on your response. So why the hell do we have to agree with the ‘Princess of R&B’ just because of a wiki link. Bye.

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

No, they’re called R&B Princess and Pop/R&B Princess, not Princess of R&B. Just like there’s tones of pop princesses, but only ONE Princess of Pop (Britney).

      • Special Delivery October 2, 2014

@Mark111 Boy what? It’s the same thing. You are princess in a genre or not. The struggle. And like I said, that wiki page doesn’t mean s*** when over half of it is debatable… Aaliyah included.

      • Lolz October 2, 2014

@Mark111 The wiki page says this though
Beyoncé Princess of Pop United States [37]
        Queen of Pop Music [38]
        Queen of R&B [39][40]

Why are you hating on Aaliyah? most of you guys are probably too young to even know how great of an artist she really was! Had she been alive there would have not been Ciara or Keri Hilson, so i have no idea why people are even comparing, Aaliyah was in the her own league! She would have been the queen of RNB let alone princess

    • Molly October 2, 2014

She’s not a queen and she wasn’t a princess, she ripped off TLCs style and she was a weak singer. Rihanna’s yodeling sounded better

    • Mimi Carey October 2, 2014

Everyone would be in their respective places if Aaliyah were alive. I’m tired of hearing that s***.

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

      • Brian310 October 3, 2014

Aaliyah is my ultimate fav I love her to death BUT we cannot shade Brandy nor Monica as all 3 were young women that impacted R&B in the late 90s…What made Aaliyah stand out was her distinctive music that was packaged with a distinctive look and slowly but surely her performing skills being recognized by the GP.

Janet: 25 miles as of 1999
Mariah: 32 million as of 1999

Madonna: 25 million as of 2012

Ciara: 2.9 in USA as of 2013

Here is a Billboard Article Clocking Aaliyah, Brandy ,Monica and Mya Albums Sales..

ASK BILLBOARD: How IS POPULAR IS COUNTRY MUSIC?
LADIES OF THE ’80s, AND ’90s

    Hi Gary,

I noticed you’ve been keeping a tally on divas, such as Whitney Houston, Madonna and Janet Jackson, all of whom rose to stardom in the ’80s. I was wondering if you could offer any sales rankings and chart feats of female singers who arrived in the ’90s, such as Brandy, Monica, Mya, and the late Aaliyah. Among them, who’s leading the pack?

    Thanks,

    Carl Kennedy
    Baltimore, Maryland

    Hi Carl,

Here are how the divas (divettes?) that you mention rank in career album sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan:

    8,621,000, Brandy
    8,151,000, Aaliyah
    4,809,000, Monica
    3,211,000, Mya

On the Billboard Hot 100, Brandy has charted 17 entries, Aaliyah and Monica 14 each and Mya 12. Aaliyah and Mya have notched one No. 1 apiece, Brandy two and Monica three. The latter two sums include Brandy and Monica’s duet “The Boy Is Mine,” which led the Hot 100 for 13 weeks in 1998.

    • CherylSoldierr October 2, 2014

      Is that worldwide?

      • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

        no just the united states

      • Mark111 October 2, 2014

        US

    • Mark111 October 2, 2014

And mind you, Aaliyah only had 3 albums (not sure if they’re counting I Care 4 U or not), while Brandy and Mo are on her 7th flop. “Brandy sold more” When? Monica was NEVER on their level, but she’s still here and career out lasted Brandy’s.

      • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

like ive been saying for years Aaliyah and brandy were always neck to neck in the 90’s brandy just had that show monica was always their lessor monica didn’t do shittttt Aaliyah was the singer/dancer and brandy was the singer/actress and then in the 2000’s Aaliyah became the total package singer/dancer/actress

      • Mimi Carey October 2, 2014

Brandy was always more relevant than Aaliyah in the 90s. She was Americas sweetheart. Monica’s music was more memorable and classic than Aaliyah’s and they both sang better than her.

      • Brian310 October 3, 2014

Brandy was more mainstream so so she got the attention more but like the poster above said once Aaliyah showed that she was the ultimate package is when she was beginning to leave them in the dust and progress and become the big star she was meant to become….One thing I notice is that stars that take a little longer for the public to catch onto have longer careers than those who instantly blow up.

  51. Skyfall October 2, 2014

Has “The Rolling Stones” ranked any Ciara’s albums the top 100 of any decade?

  52. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Also Monica Albums have been overshiped her Whole Career and Brandy Has Only Outsold Aaliyah on One Album Which IS Never Say Never

    • Dove October 2, 2014

Is that why Aaliyah was her lessor honey?

      • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

hahaha sit down monica was their lessor

  53. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Lets Not Forget Aaliyah has a song that is Academy Award Nominated and Also Golden Globe Nominated she also became the youngest person to Perform at the Oscars Also Aaliyah performed at the white house for the president which was titled Christmas in Washington

  54. Skyfall October 2, 2014

Aaliyah has sold anywhere from 25 – 32 million albums. ( due to over shipping in the 90s there isn’t a way to determine exact figures.)

She’s estimated to have sold 45-52 million records worldwide as well.

    When will Ciara?

    • FutureCIARA October 3, 2014

Atleast my fave still has a chance, She is still alive and well babe!

The question is When will Dead-liyah beat her own record?
shes at a stand still bittch

Moderator: Please stop referring to Aaliyah as “Dead-liyah.” Do so again and you’ll be sure to face a permanent ban.

  55. Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

“@Slay_hive you wanna talk about flops but why couldn’t partition or xo outpeak Cicis BP.”

I can’t at stupid comments like this. Just avoid mentioning DIL. The song that outpeaked BP with 1 performance. I can’t even remember what other flop songs Cierror had on that album.

  56. Skyfall October 2, 2014

    @Cherylsoldier
Have heard Aaliyah’s song “More Than A Woman” it went #1 in the UK and is certified Silver there. Also do you like Queen on the Damned?

    • CherylSoldierr October 2, 2014

Ya I love that song. But wait wait wait, is her highest non us certification silver? Because mark tried to call her a global icon once. I screamed, no shade.

      • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

her highest album certification outside the u.s. is platinum and her highest single certification outside the u.s. is platinum and try again is silver in the uk but is certified platinum is Australia and it is gold in 3 other countries

      • CherylSoldierr October 2, 2014

But can we agree that she’s not a global icon?
And platinum in Aus is less than gold in the UK.

  57. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Also lets not act like whitney didn’t hand pick her from sparkle, also janet and Aaliyah was working on a coab before liyahs death ,she had the matrix sequals, honey the queen of the damned which came out in 2002 she was set to perform at the vms her label was putting together a world tour her a kidada jones was working on a Japanese inspired clothing line titled dolly pop Also Aaliyah was supposed to contribute a song to the queen of the damned soundtrack which was a all rock/metal sountrack and her fourth album was going to be alternative rock/metal mixed with uk garage if you don’t believe me listen to her Song WHAT IF on her self titled

  58. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Aaliyah Was considered for the part of Maggie in Get Over It (2001), but was already committed to Romeo Must Die (2000). Zoe Saldana was eventually cast in the role

  59. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Aaliyah Was the first choice to play Valerie in Josie and the Pussycats (2001), but had already signed on for the lead role in Queen of the Damned (2002). Rosario Dawson eventually got the part.

  60. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Aaliyah Was almost the voice of Leah in Osmosis Jones (2001), but could not accept due to schedule conflicts. The part was eventually voiced by Brandy Norwood

  61. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Aaliyah was Originally cast as “Zee” in the two Matrix sequels, The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). Aaliyah had filmed many of her scenes but had not completed them all before her unexpected death. The role of Zee was re-cast and re-shot with Nona Gaye in the role, and this was part of the reasons why “Reloaded” was released for summer 2003, instead of either summer or Christmas 2002.

  62. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

The role of Brenda In Scary Movie was originally offered to Aaliyah but she turned it down for Romeo Must Die

  63. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

Aaliyah was placed at number 18 on NME’s Magazine 100 most influential artist

    • Mimi Carey October 2, 2014

      • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

p.s. this list came out in july or august so it is still fairly new 🙂

  64. Skyfall October 2, 2014

    @slay_hiv

To answer your question, yes when I said main I was referring to the BBHOT 100. She was moderately successful of the main chart but she Slayed the R&B chart

    One in A million – #1 for 8 weeks
Are you that somebody – #1 for 7 weeks
Back and forth – #1 for 4 weeks
    Miss you – #1 for 1 week

Mind you she only had 3 albums In 8 years. With 12 top tens, she had a good career.

    • Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

Aaliyah did not have 4 Hot 100 #1’s. She only had ONE, and the rest must be from the R&B chart..

      So misleading loool

    • Slay_Hive October 2, 2014

oh never mind. I see where u put R&B chart

  65. Dove October 2, 2014

Not here for Monica shade because everyone knows she slayed Aaliyah. TBIM album alone eclipsed Aaliyah’s entire career oop

    • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

is that why it only sold 2mil and lets not act like moncica’s albums haven’t been overshipped her whole career

      • Dove October 2, 2014

F** lies it sold well over three million and produced three #1 hits

    • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

also I didn’t seen any of monica albums on the 100 greatest albums of the 90’s list on rolling stone but you know what I saw ONE In A Million made the list though 🙂

  66. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

I would like to know how Monica’s “Still Standing” album is doing so far, as well as the individual album sales of each of her previous releases.

    Thank You,

    Sean Murray
    San Jose, California

    Hi Sean,

Good timing, as Monica this week notches her 12th top 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, as “Love All Over Me” rises 11-8. “Everything to Me,” the first single from “Still Standing,” spent seven weeks at No. 1.

Here is a recap of Monica’s career album sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan:

2,016,000, “The Boy Is Mine” (1998)
    1,451,000, “Miss Thang” (1995)

    474,000, “Still Standing” (2010)

    • Dove October 2, 2014

      And Monica remains LEGENDARY

      • BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

and yet I proved you wrong yes she has albums that are certified 3x platinum but the certifications come from shipments not actual sales when record sales are calculated shipments don’t get calculated so your dismissed

  67. BeyRihLiyah October 2, 2014

    ENJOYING THE ‘RIDE’

    Hi Gary,

I was wondering if you could please run a sales analysis on Ciara. With her currently back with new music on R&B radio, I would greatly appreciate finding out her top-selling albums.

    Thank you,

    Shaun Ashford
    Long Beach, California

    Hi Shaun,

Ciara adds to an already impressive resume on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week. Here’s what Billboard R&B/hip-hop chart manager writes in the new issue of the magazine:

“Ciara logs her 12th top 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, as ‘Ride,’ the lead single from her forthcoming album ‘Basic Instinct,’ cruises 18-9. Since notching six weeks at No. 1 with her debut single ‘Goodies’ in 2004, the singer is tied with Beyonce for the most top 10s by a female in that span.”

(“Hey guys!! I just want to thank u guys for all your support!! ‘Ride’ is now top 10 because of u! Let’s keep it going!!,” Ciara Tweeted Monday).

Here is a look at the album sales to-date of 24-year-old Ciara Princess Harris, according to SoundScan:

    2,748,000, “Goodies,” 2004
    1,326,000,”Ciara: the Evolution,” 2006
    193,000, “Fantasy Ride,” 2009
    115,000 “basic instinct”2010
    133,000, “Ciara”

Where are you all getting your receipts from? Brandy Was the most commercially successful of every one (in the 90’s), Monica however did not outsell Aaliyah at all. Monica’s first album barely sold past 1.4 million, Aaliyah’s first album sold over 2 million. Monica’s second album barely grazed past the 2 million mark. She’s currently at about 2.01 million. Aaliyah’s second album ‘one in a million’ sold over 2.7 million. Mind you, Monica got mainstream audience to notice her by the time her second album dropped & remember that when ‘one in a million’ was released Aaliyah was still urban; so for ‘The boy is mine’ to be such a huge record and her to be in the same spotlight as Brandy, her second album underperformed. It is however 4x platinum on R.I.A.A. for SHIPMENTS. By the time Romeo Must Die dropped it was a wrap. It was all about Aaliyah. Her 3rd album sold more than Brandy and Monica’s third albums combined to date, & it still sold faster than both of their’s when it was first released. & since when do grammy’s solidify an artists mainstream appeal? since when to they even solidify a great body of work? Like you guys are speaking on this like you really did your research. & dead at someone throwing the ultimate shade saying Mya was bigger than Aaliyah -_-. Homegirl got her life for like three years and didn’t match up to Brandy, Monica, or Aaliyah within that time so as far as they are concerned she is irrelevant.

I wouldn’t expect all of you 2000’s baby’s to know this because you weren’t even born while Aaliyah did what she did. She was making major moves and then all of a sudden she just passed. That is the biggest part of her legacy, everybody knew she was the next big thing and then boom, she’s dead. I won’t let ya’ll try to discredit her. She definitely was THAT somebody in the 90’s and early 2000’s and the statistics do prove. You all just do horrible or no research smh.

Some of you guys on here are so Disrespectful towards Aaliyah, it’s disgusting smh. Anyway, I say the title is Perfect, because if you know Aaliyah, Monica and Brandy music wise, you would consider them ALL R&B Princesses, they each bought something different.

    • Monica stan October 2, 2014

Also might I add, from my perspective, music just hasn’t been the same since Aaliyah passed..she was EVERYTHING! So some of you on here who are passing disdain judgment, really need to look pass your hate, and give credit and RESPECT.

Also I see some of you up there trying to shade my girl Mo, but you know what, i’m not going to even sit here and debate. One things for sure, she’s been doing her thing since the early 90’s,..a vocal beast, amazing albums, and beautiful inside and out.

Aaliyah is a ICON & IS THE PRINCESS OF R&B. Don’t get it twisted, baby girl was about to conquer the entire industry, and it has been proven and factual of her potential many times before and after her death. She has inspired many of your faves — Beyoncé, Brandy, Monica, Rihanna (including fashion sense), Drake, Chris Brown, Tinesha, Jhene Aiko, J. Cole, Cassie, Azelia Banks, Sevyn, Kelly Rowland, Keyshia Cole, Adele, Zendaya and CIARA !! don’t believe me search the s*** up. Yah calling her a flop yet Whitney choose her for Sparkle, and was hurt when she died. Janet loved Aaliyah and wanted to collab together, Janet even paid Aaliyah tribute with Missy and Tim. So what does that show a Legend like Janet showing love to her?? oh yeah by the way Ciara stay wishing for a Janet collab but has Janet even mentioned her name like Aaliyah and consider a collab?? exactly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhz8paeXCNE

Nothing about this movie comes close to looking or sounding like the life of Aaliyah. It’s pathetic really.

  76. Reign_Liyah October 3, 2014

FACT: Aaliyah will always be Princess of R&B even after death, haters deal.

People, why is race an issue? If Izzy has the talent so be itm But for those of you people that think Aaliyah isn’t”worthy” of a movie please remember she is too a lot of people. Please have a little respect. It’s funny for those that seem too minimize her talent it’s funny I don’t see no Amy Whinehouse movie in the makin.

  78. Johnna S. Barlow-Jackson October 5, 2014

Please forgive the “typo’s” I meant Iggy and Whinhouse.
