Should one be on the hunt for Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea and John Legend, they needn’t look any further than the ‘Official Top 40 Most Streamed Singles of 2014 so far‘ tally today!

For, thanks to music lovers who streamed their hottest release, all three are featured on the list, surpassing efforts made by Beyonce‘s ‘Drunk in Love’, Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Pills N Potions’ and Usher‘s ‘Good Kisser’ in the third quarter.

However, did any of three songs named above fare better when figures pulled between January and today were thrown into the equation?

The answer to that question…below

Find out here!

Since January 1st 2014, music fans in the UK have streamed a massive 10.2 billion tracks, with Iggy Azalea‘s ‘Fancy‘ accounting for 18 million of them and John Legend‘s ‘All of Me‘ throwing 26 million into the mix.

Any surprises?

Most of these song’s on this list are pure garbage sans Drunk In Love,All Of Me,Ghost,Stay With Me & Budapest.

Streaming should be scrapped, it’s one of the things killing the music industry alongside over-saturation,piracy etc.

Streamed singles are lame. Record companies tend to manipulate the system by putting automatic software…

We monsters know its been a very messy ERA. (SINGLE CHOICES even though APPALUSE Spent its entire chart life in the top 10),Album Sales(some of yalls favourite part) something of which we monsters are happy with considering how s***** album sales are going lately). I was surprised cheek to cheek did very well for a jazz album, anyway my point is I don’t understand why some of you would comment things like “RIP Lady Gaga….:)” ,”LADY GAGA IS NO LONGER THE BIGGEST POP STAR! ;)”, its like they getting so much pleasure from seeing someone on their LOW THAT IS HATE. and everyone on this blog with insight should know. I just wanna say do not underestimate Lady Gaga’s ability/power to reinvent her self. she is working hard and getting her coins and keeps making great music that We enjoy.

Lmao what an absolutely pointless list.

  12. Beysus October 9, 2014

Streaming, Soundcloud, Spotify, Youtube, Free Downloads, bragging about Twitter followers, etc. the internet has gone too far… Ticket Sales and Endorsement Deals are the only big things to make money from… Notice how there’s been a lot of one hit wonders recently??? There are too many artists with one big song that’ll be forgotten within 5 years…

i thought the most important thing about music was it reaching the fanbases, dont be shady just cause your fav couldnt get people to listen to them for free. Ticket sales and endorsements are all well but that depends on the corporate machine behind you. You want to check the true popularity of something check how many free downloads it pulls in.

    • Carmen October 9, 2014

You cant be that popular if no ones willing to buy it

  14. blue October 9, 2014

also in today’s market you social media profile pulls in those endorsements… Everything is interconnected.

  15. mingxxx October 9, 2014

    SO what are you saying………

all the songs … copyright thief beyonce… released, all that free promo she got and none of her flop songs are #1 only song up there is one that Jayz did
damn the queen of copy needs to hang up her stolen crown and bow down…

    • Yonce’sBae October 9, 2014

yonce on your mind like liqa 🙂

LMAO at people still using the “streaming doesn’t matter” excuse. Maybe in 2012, yeah? But streaming is set to pass single sales in revenue in the next few months. If it’s YouTube/VEVO, yeah I agree, but on other sites where people are actually listening, yes, it is a big deal.
