Mariah Carey is back and in a big way.

As reported, the legendary diva is Las Vegas bound after she signed a lucrative deal to perform at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace.

Building on the buzz generated by her announcement on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the iconic songbird has not only revealed the dates for the show (which kicks off in May), but also announced a new-ish album in the process.

Details below…

Christened ‘Mariah Carey #1’s’, the spectacle will – for the first time ever- see the singer “perform all 18 of her timeless and beloved Number One Hits together in one concert. Designed exclusively for The Colosseum, the production will also feature fan-favorite album cuts, never-before-performed selections and many more musical surprises”.

One of those “surprises” was revealed in the show’s accompanying press release, which added:

“In celebration of Mariah’s groundbreaking record, and in tandem with the concert series, Mariah is working on a new edition of her worldwide best-selling album #1’s. Set to include all 18 of her number one hits, along with newly recorded music, the album will be released later this year.”

“Revisiting these songs for the show, working on the updated compilation and creating new music has really let me reconnect with my songs and I hope my fans will enjoy the experience,” said Mariah.

The residency will launch May 6th 2015. Tickets to the first 18 performances in 2015 are on-sale now:

May: 6, 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 20, 23, 24
July 8, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22, 25, 26

It is believed additional dates are a certainty.

*********

The Vegas strip is deemed by some to be destination 101 for divas whose careers are in the desert. However, in recent years it’s emerged as platform to achieve a very relevant brand of success. As such, it could easily serve as a rebirth of sorts for Mimi.

We’re particularly keen to see how the new music component works. Re-releasing ‘#1’s’ is a smart means of reminding the masses of her gravitas and packaging with new music could give her the opportunity to make a beeline for the singles charts without the pressure of setting up a whole new project.

Exciting times!

    ALBUM??? Hmmm… Interesting…

    • Ummm January 15, 2015

P*** off btch! Stop worrying about American things and go worry about why your people voted for Scotland to not become an independent country and go troll somewhere else.

      • Beysus January 15, 2015

We already know the reason, you little troll…

      • Beysus January 15, 2015

And it’s not “American” things… It’s “music” things… *sips tea*

I don’t think it’s an album bc she already has one called “#1’s”. The concert is what she’s referring to as an updated version of that album since she had more number one songs after it came out.

This is so great! I’m very happy for her. I hope she uses the time before the show begins to work on making her voice strong and consistent. And she lost that weight again, which is good. She is going to slay!

    • Gregg January 16, 2015

LOL, say something nice before you go in on her…..i see your strategy…lol

  3. JOHNVIDAL January 15, 2015

What??? OMFG! Now I wasn´t expecting THIS! Looks a really well planned roll out. She has made me excited today.
I know it is kind of a greatest hits album but still, you don´t find the two big parts of Mariah´s career put together (usually). Plus there are chances we get new songs.
    Smart move overall. Congrats Mariah!

Vegas will always be known as Has Been City, no matter how you spin it.

    • Prismatic January 15, 2015

And Icky should change her stage name to Streamy Minaj since streaming is the only thing that’s saving the pinkshit

      • CT January 15, 2015

Just wait until the superbowl im going to skin that ass..

  5. I STAN(D) FOR TALENT January 15, 2015

Bye Felicia. This will be a good year for music. Hopefully there’s no Mariah, T*********, Katy, and Gaga’s music in 2015. Ariana must also take a break. 🙂

      Sour heffer

  6. Mark111 January 15, 2015

Nice, only a few can pull off the #1’s album with Hot 100 #1’s. Can your fave?

  7. AmbeRussell January 15, 2015

Say what you want but has berms can’t book huge gigs in Vegas. To me, Vegas is where retired people go that still have a fan base/or casual ppl want to watch. I mean this yr will mark 25 yrs since the release of her 1st album. How many singers have we seen through out the yrs that burn out with in 5 (or less) yrs of their debut? She is 25 yrs in and still has her name out there doing big shoes and having tv specials etc. this is bc she is a living legen.
Anyways, new music, rerelease of the #1 album with all 18 songs and concert in Vegas, that sounds like a good yr for mariah.

Very exciting! I just can’t wait. I know she’ll be excited to see me again. I wonder how much her network will go up considering how much she us getting paid. (I’ve heard 650-850k per show.)

  9. #1Lamb January 15, 2015

I’m beyond excited and happy Mariah. If there is a new #1’s we know there will be new songs on it period. Love this lady.

  10. nakiyah January 15, 2015

I seriously love her music but i need her voice to rest.

  11. Charlieyoncé January 15, 2015

    Get your coins sister! ❤️

  13. Skyfall January 15, 2015

Slay, this is a great thing for Mariah.
    Janets next.

  14. Fancy BISH January 15, 2015

All Mariah Carey has to do is be herself, point blank period….get in shape (she is doing that), cause that’s how we all know her…Whitney and Mariah were the skinny minnies with the huge voices 😉 Please go back to high production standards…take a cue from Daft Punk, Pharrell, Barbra and Ronson/Bruno and sing on production that sounds (and is) expensive….funny how all those records were released by her old stomping grounds at Columbia/Sony…Barbra Streisand sold 1.4 million records in 2014 at 72 years old…CHILE yaaas, she tried that and she did that 😉 Barbra slayed by being herself and the album was produced by Walter Afanasieff and Babyface…any true Mariah fan has seen these two names on her biggest songs and albums…give Walter and Face a call chile…I would love a record in the vein of Fantasy or Dreamlover for the new #1’s album, since Problem worked so well for Ariana…no shade to Ariana…and get the studio vocals perfect, I really don’t care if she can’t sing them live…something didn’t sound right vocally on some of the songs on her last album (keeping it 100)…and stop being so glam and looking uncomfortable lol…we all know homegirl sold at least 100 million records in a plaid shirt and some daisy dukes 😉 Just go back to being Legendriah Carey, not the elusive chanteuse…say bye to Miguel, Wale, Rick Ross, Meek Mill and Fabolous…and say hello to Jay-Z, Kanye, Drake, Pharrell and Kendrick…

    • mmhmm January 15, 2015

      Yasssss!!!

    • TheElusiveLamb January 15, 2015

Cute essay, but if Barbra can sell that many at 72, then what’s Iggy excuse with all of the promo, payola, controversy, constant radio play, and etc. when she’s not even gold?

  15. MariahIsMusic1 January 15, 2015

    I’m so excited. Omg

  16. DTG January 15, 2015

Whatever. The only reason she got the gig is because they couldn’t reach an agreement with JLo, who they asked first. Mariah wasn’t who they wanted, she’s just who they got as a consolation. Haha.

    • TheElusiveLamb January 15, 2015

If only you weren’t dumb… Mariah sad supposed to do one back in 2009 and in 2013 right before #Beautiful came out, so once again, JLO steals from Mariah.

  17. Timago January 15, 2015

SMELLY FLOPLAND IS THE OPENING ACT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Dossome January 15, 2015

Now we’re talkin…Hoping for some unreleased gems too on top of new music. An excellent way to commemorate 25yrs in the game.Oh…she looked superb on Ellen, probably the best she’s looked in years

  19. Porkriah fatrey January 15, 2015

Cows doing stage shows in Vegas? i have got to see this…

  20. OliverT January 15, 2015

Is it me but Mariah is giving me Janet Jackson number ones tour tease with her vegas shows. Janet in 2011 did a tour titled “Number Ones Up close and personal and was Janet biggest and largest tour since 1998/1999 Velvet rope tour with janet only doing Number one songs on the Hot 100, Rap/Hip Hop Charts and Japan and Dance charts. With all those Number ones there were a total of 35 Number ones all together. All the Number ones couldn’t fit in the show but all ten of Janet hot 100 half of her hip hop/r&b number ones.

Kudos Mariah I so wanna go

    • TheElusiveLamb January 15, 2015

Considering Mariah’s number one album came in 98, I would say no.

  21. AmericanDream January 15, 2015

Céline Dion announced last week that she stay at home with his ill husband and her family so she still won’t return to Vegas and Ceasers Palace. So it’s easy to see that they needed someone to replace her temprarily.

Good to see Mariah as only a replacement to Queen Céline Dion who still has the voice, not like pre-recorded Mariah.

    • Lmfao_Hoe January 15, 2015

Hone y keep it cute, Celine Dion is my girl but she damn well be prerecorded and lip too. She’s been caught many times, however never receives criticism Like Mariah.

    • JOHNVIDAL January 16, 2015

My beloved Celine Dion lipsyncs even more than Mariah. STFU!

  22. Lmfao_Hoe January 15, 2015

I hope this turns out wonderfully for Mariah, she deserves it. I always wished Whitney had did this or similar as she really was able to connect with her audience like how she did her Welcome Back Troops in the 90s.
