On home soil, Mariah Carey has been a hot topic of late thanks to her new Las Vegas residency, rumoured Sony Music return, and tabloid chatter surrounding her divorce from Nick Cannon.
Still, in embracing her international status, the 45-year-old played to a sold-out crowd at the Jazz & Blues Festival in Jamaica last night.

While Mimi’s voice boasted more power and clarity than recent showings, she still veered all over the place at one too many points. What’s more, she just doesn’t seem or sound confident.
Yes, she may still possess a better vocal than some of today’s chart-toppers, but what value does that have when she can’t showcase it in a way that does it any justice?
Also, anyone else notice how those 1995 vocals kicked in real quick after the bridge? We’re all for a good pre-record, but for the love of all things good, make it seem convincing…please. Perhaps Celine (the Queen of epic lipping…and live singing) can offer Mimi a few tips before her Vegas show debuts.

Ummm, that was a bit all over the place! It just seems like Mariah has a lot of nervous energy. There were some moments that were steady and then it was off again. Tbh honest, this was slightly better than those dreadful performances she recently gave. It’s just still looks like she’s not in control on stage. ABMB will always be my favorite song by Mariah … like this is probably in my top 10 of all time, but I don’t ever recall catching a performance from her that really sold the song (old or new Mariah). It wasn’t always issues with her vocals, she just struggled to come across as confident (which is more revealing now than ever).
Mimi don’t be going to my favourite island acting a fool. Was she about to shout out Nick Cannon, or she dating someone else – oh Mariah please. anyway the performance was cute.

She IS getting better, but for someone that been in the game for 25 years, I’m going to need her and the lambs to stop acting like she’s a new act that doesn’t know and is new to this. 25 years, she should know the steps to get back in it. What a mess. The older Mariah gets, the more of a goofy parody of herself she becomes. She’s basically a cartoon now. Mariah is like a poster child for a 25 years old can get away with at the time but isn’t cute 20 years later.
I watched most of the concert online and despite even saying on stage that “the sound was unprofessional” she still sung her heart out and it was a great concert, the jamaicans loved her, stay bit chin and pressed!

I feel really bad for Mariah. I feel like this is pure karma for the way she treats people, but I still feel bad. Mariah depended on the audience to sing more than 1/2 the song. She is losing her beautiful vocals. Pray for her!
