People only compare them because of skin tones. Beyonce debuted earlier than Rihanna and makes Urban Pop/R&B music. Rihanna has been pop from the beginning. They aren’t contemporaries. They aren’t in the same genre. It’s like comparing Britney Spears to Carrie Underwood. It really makes no sense. The only reason comparisons and stan wars exist is because they are both women of color who are consistently in the top 40. If Keri Hilson or Jordan Sparks never disappeared but stayed consistent, they’d be thrown in the mix too. If Rihanna was white/Hispanic/asian no one would compare her to Beyonce.
