Are You Buying?: Madonna’s ‘Rebel Heart’

Today brought with it the release of ‘Rebel Heart’ – Queen of Pop Madonna‘s 13th full length studio LP.  Though, on one hand, greeted with overall positive reviews from the industry’s top critics, the delivery of their thumbs up come as a sigh of relief, so to speak, for an era that to date has seen no dearth of dilemmas for the daring diva (see:  multiple leaks, on-stage fall, overall messiness).

Yet, in what is no unexpected response, the Material Girl is pressing forward with her new material as one thing remains certain:  the challenges have only helped reaffirm the fighter in the 56-year-old…

Championing an agenda against ageism and sexism in the industry, ‘Rebel Heart’ sees Madge do exactly what she’s done for over 30 years – rebel against a system that tells her who she can’t or shouldn’t be.  She hasn’t listened thus far and shows no intention on starting now.

Yes, the expense of her “rebellion” has yet to be seen in full, but what can be seen is that this project is in line to be Madonna’s most important album of the century as it – much like ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ after the failure of 2003’s ‘American Life’ – stands to not only test her commercial relevance, but also her commercial resiliency (see:  ‘MDNA’s historic plunge).

Interestingly, the most glaring similarity to ‘American Life’ is it being her only other album this century to boast release with no Hot 100 top 10 single preceding it.  Unlike ‘Life’ and ‘Heart’s predecessor ‘MDNA,’ it’s evident her Madgesty has learned the err of her ways via the embarkation on a traditional promo campaign that stands to see her do talk show, promotional performances, ticket/album sale bundling, and more this week and next.

Will it be too little too late?  We’ll find out tomorrow when the first week sales forecast are released.  Until then, are you living for the ‘Living For Love’ singer’s newest release?  Tell us:

I thought Hard Candy was her last great album. Timbaland and Pharrell on one album (Just like Beyonce’s self titled) is a great combo!

DEATH! Give It Up Grandonna your album is flopping harder than Fleayonces! Old h** has arthritis and a metal hip and she still pulled that fake fall to get hits, just like babidi did when she fell down those stairs LOL!!! Disgusting old bítch copying Rih with the Rebel name when Rih did it first 🙂 Flopdonna will never be on Rihanna’s level! _/ _/ _/ #LivingForFlops

Saying or titling something rebel is not Rihanna copyright infringement. You sound delusional as s***. I really wish you would seek mental help.

I love Madge but nah! Like @Hur said, her last good album was “Confessions.” I just don’t like “Rebel Heart” at all.

“Best Night” is an absolute masterpiece though. I hope she gives us a video for that one! 😀

  18. TheElusiveLamb March 10, 2015

“Are you buying Rebel Heart?” NO, but I am buying & downloading half of the album on iTunes right now. She has some pretty good songs on here, but I don’t like the entire album as a whole. I think some of the songs in demo version actually sounded better than the finished songs. Still I give Madonna a 8/10 for the album and continuing to fight against the washed up thing that too many artists (especially us females) face after 30 or having a baby. Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Cher, Aretha Franklin, and etc fought to stay atop of the Billboard charts in their 40’s and 50’s (see Private Dancer, Believe, and etc.), so congrats to Madonna.

  19. Solange, The Sponge. March 10, 2015

Poor thang. I see 43,000 albums Sold and 63,000 In total only bc of that b******* rule billboard made up in december. #LivingforFLOP #FLOPforLove

  20. Mark111 March 10, 2015

    Hahahahahahahaha… no. :I

  21. LB March 10, 2015

I haven’t decided yet, I’ll listen to it on Spotify before I make my mind up. On the other hand, her tour is already selling out, so it really doesn’t matter how her albums do at this point, I view them more as a launching pad for her tour. Good luck Madge.

    • FutureCIARA March 11, 2015

When you consider that she’ll be bundling Albums with concert tickets….. “launching pad” would be the correct term.

  22. Adam Monster March 10, 2015

HELL NO OLD BONES IS DONE

  23. CT March 10, 2015

    UH….NO

  24. RihYonce March 10, 2015

Her album actually sounds good “B**** I’m Madonna ” , “ghosttown ” , “illuminati ” , “living for love ” & “Devils Prayer” are good songs . Would I buy it? No simply because I like Madonna but I’m not a fan enough to buy her music but I’ll watch her videos and watch her perform

  25. rihanna used up w**** March 10, 2015

I plan on getting the album and tickets to the tour. People diss her. When Rihanna start to age………..

    Sam,
    New Rita Ora updats.
She has deal with Coke Cola and filmed a campaign with Dave Lachapelle. She also worked with Award winning director, Mark Romanek who shot taylor swift shake it off and jay 99 problems.
She is in NYC fliming the video for Empire song she has with the rapper.

  26. ronnoc March 10, 2015

F*** no. I’ve been turned off to her since she showed her 50 year old nipple and armpit hair during the last tour. She needs to have a seat and give people time to miss her like ms Janet.

  27. whut March 10, 2015

Streamed some of it on spotify. Cut it off by the fourth song.

  28. I STAN[D] FOR TALENT March 11, 2015

Hell yeah!!! I absolutely love “Veni Vidi Vici” and “Iconic.”

  29. Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! March 11, 2015

Well I know people are still buying Taylor’s Swifts album, because it’s back in the top 3 in the states, and hasn’t left the top 10 in the U.K. since it was released!

    • JOHNVIDAL March 11, 2015

      Tragic 🙁

      • Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! March 11, 2015

No it’s amazing, also I believe taylor swift video for blank space is only the second music video to be given 3 million likes or more. The other being Gangnam style.

  30. Mike March 11, 2015

Apart from 3 or 4 songs it’s a pretty forgettable album.

    Even “Hard Candy” is better.

Madonna is still trying way too hard to be “cool” these days.

Plus, the whole album is so inconsistent in terms of sound, I hate that. One song is 90s house, the next song is electropop, the next one is R&B, the next one sounds traditional asian, the next one sounds like early 2000s pop, etc… it’s a mess. But of course there will always be her gay fans blindly following her and calling everything she does “genius” LOL – I mean, even if Britney who can’t even sing for her life has those fans!…

  31. FutureCIARA March 11, 2015

Nah, I dont want to invite those demons from her album into my ears…..
