Monica has never been artistically inclined impo. All of her albums sound exactly alike except Still Standing and New Life was basically the leftover songs from Still Standing. She’s always been a great vocalist but musically, she’s not that impressive. All she talks about being cheated on, bad relationship and typical hood love scenarios

I like Monica she’s one of the few albums i buy but i felt nothin from this clip. i really hope she steps out her lil box with this album cuz the formula she been sticking to is gettin boring. Still standing is her best work to date. we saw growth vocally and in subject matter. now i need her to take it a step further.

These show layers, textures, sounds and vocal range and ability. That mix with power of Monica’s voice is the reason she is Still Standing 20 years into her career.
