Ten years ago a 17-year-old Rihanna was introduced to the world as the protege’ of Pop power couple Jay Z and Beyonce, wheeled into their PR machine to support her debut album ‘Music of the Sun.’
Today, the couple are to use their TIDAL streaming service to continue on in their efforts to sign and nurture emerging artists.

The ‘TIDAL Rising‘ program will see the company use its own money and resources to fund projects to support emerging acts with events tat will showcase their overlooked gifts.
What’s more, the company has teased plans to set up a mentorship program which would see established artists lend their time and support to artists from all walks of life, using their experiences to guide them as they embark on their creative journeys.
In a statement released this week the company had this to say on emerging artists:
It’s their voices that really matter in this. If their voices aren’t in positive support of this, then we have failed. I genuinely mean that.

Beyonce had NOTHING to do with Rihanna’s career. She was simply an influence, so were Aaliyah, Janet and Mariah Carey. Sure they tried to make her a young Beyonce, but so did every label with their female artist. (Let me be pnr step ahead of the pest, they’re so predictable. Correction: She was an EARLY inspiration in her career, due possibly for Beyonce being the closest superstar she ever been to (at the time, thanks to Jay-Z), any new artist will get inspired by the first famous person they encountered, because that’s the goal, being famous. THAT INSPIRATION is nowere to be found NOW because it was a mere “I want to be big too, like her”, it was an ambition, rather than an other than an idol. THE SUPERSTAR the world know as Rihanna today is/was influenced/SELF MOLDED/created by several artists, true greats (Marley, Madonna, Damita etc), Beyoncé is not part of that Rihanna, you can see the differences in both artist, musically speaking the BAJAN BEAUTY leaves Jay-Z’s WIFE in the dust, her hability to sing almost every music genre is impressive.
