“Tidal exclusive” is a sure-fire way for a sales flop. Do the minds behind this not understand that the second that album hits a streaming service that torrents etc will provide a free for all? Exclusively releasing an album through ANY streaming service will result in a sales decline no matter how soon after a physical and iTunes version is released.
Also, i’m aware that physical and iTunes products are torrented, but when consumers are ABLE to pre-order and BUY, the risk is decreased.

The service is just not ready for this kind of exclusive. Team Rihanna knows this album will not do well if released the traditional way given how their current singles are performing. A Tidal exclusive just provides them with a way to justify the album underperforming. This is not rocket science, they did not get the reception they were hoping for with these current singles so why not do the next best thing. Drop the album there Tidal gets the blame and Rihanna goes back to doing her yo-yo music.
