Exclusive: Tinashe To Release New Music This Year / Dreams Of Janet Jackson Collaboration

Published: Thursday 2nd Jul 2015 by Sam

After dominating the dance-floor with hits such as ‘2 On’ and ‘All Hands On Deck,’ Tinashe has emerged as one of music’s hottest new commodities.

And though still working the promo trail for debut album ‘Aquarius,’ the 22-year-old is already hard at work on its follow-up with the likes of Dr. Luke and Max Martin.

That Grape Juice caught up with the name on everyone’s lips at the 2015 BET Awards, where she confirmed plans to release new music this year.

She also opened up about her spot on Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pinkprint Tour,’ as well as her desire to collaborate with the lady she honored on-stage Sunday night – Janet Jackson.

Check out our EXCLUSIVE chat with Tinashe above; an acapella also features.

It’s a shame Aquarius didn’t sell more. It was a solid album. I’m not sure how I feel about her working with Dr. Luke and Max Martin. She clearly wants to be a big star and she clearly has the talent. I just hope she doesn’t sell out. Music wasn’t the issue, Aquarius had plenty of hits on it. Her problem is promo. She needs a better team. I’ll be checking for her next album for sure though

Def more Janet than Aaliyah, her album is very Janet and she dances hard unlike Aaliyah

I agree, her artistry is very Janet inspired.

The song “Dreams Are Real” literally makes Tinashe the most creative and most potential new female artist I’ve seen in a long time. Once I heard the end of that song where screams out “The Future Is Mine” so effortlessly in harmony not only does that set her up to have great performances on tour with that song but it clearly shows how serious she is about being a force in music. Amethyst is another great mixtape.

I can’t wait for the next album!!!

Her album theme and structure was Janet, with the snipets and the samples. I only heard Aaliyah in her on that Drake song, other than that I have yet to see Aaliyha in her. I see Aaliyah in Sevyn tho.
    .
You know, Aaliyah was influenced by Janet, hut never copied her. It’s a lot like Usher is influenced by MJ, but never copied. That’s the difference from a Aaliyah and Usher Vs a Ciara and Chris Brown. The later didn’t capture the essence and create their own, they just repeated what the Jacksons done.
