As much as I would definitely say it was an uncalled for sub-headline, dawn IS definitely influenced by brandy. She’s said so herself. Many times in fact. Maybe you’re not familiar with brandy in that way, or maybe your ear isn’t developed enough to catch the reference but, it’s definitely there. From tone to phrasing… it’s there.

I admit when I read that I side-lined ‘Full Moon’ Brandy to ‘Blackheart’ Dawn and didn’t see the similarity.
I just keep seeing this site’s editors AND commentators pit artists against each other, tear-down artists with un-called for associations, comparisons and felt the need to express what I thought.
Dawn’s intonations are very similar to Brandy’s but their music is completely different. Kinda like how Tori Amos’ intonations are similar to Kate Bush’s but their music exist on different planes.
A duet between Dawn & Brandy is something I’ve waited on for years. Love them both so much! Pitting them against each other is ridiculous. We should be encouraging a collaboration.
I don’t think their pitting them against eachother its just an observation that I think many can attest to. Dawn does have a similar tone to Brandy to me but because her themes and music are different it sets her apart which I think is cool.

I don’t see why people are trippin. They said Brandy inspired not Brandy envious. There for they are not putting them against each other. Dawn has talked about Brandy’s influence on her since she first came on the scene in Making The Band. You can definitely hear Brandy’s influence and rightfully so, after all Brandy is the vocal bible!
