September 25th 2015 marks the spot for the release of dumblonde‘s debut release.

Unfamiliar with the Pop duo? Take Danity Kane‘s latest incarnation, removed two members and arm what’s left with a La Roux-inspired sound and the picture becomes much clearer.

Now, its members Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex have released their first single ‘White Lightning‘ which is available to enjoy on iTunes with four other tracks should one choose to pre-order their first release.

Do they have what it takes to take on their DK sister Dawn Richard?

This video and sound is good.. Generic but good. Shannon finally standing out in the video. Aubrey is cute lol

    • You tried July 17, 2015

This song sounds like PARIS HILTON and even her songs sound better.. I knew this would be funny! Aubrey has always been a strong dancer but singing wasn’t her best talent and same for Shanon! They needed to find a third member if anything that could the vocals together lol seriously the vocals on the song are very simple and non believable! Unoriginal .. Sure the hook was catchy but not HOt! Try again

I dont like it but this is going to be a Hit because the white audience is going to EAT this up! This is sooo basic but its a Hit for sure

  2. Kelvin Donaldson July 17, 2015

They are whack as f***. This song is stupid, and they will never be better than Dawn

    • Dustin July 17, 2015

Cold pressed like my juice. Seats. Taken them

  3. DK Fan Forever July 17, 2015

I love all the girls from DK but I do have to point out Dawn’s video for Choices had the same kind of black and white projections and that visual came out earlier this year. Idk when DB shot their video I just think its very very interesting that they choose this concept but anyways I love the music and the video for what its worth

    • Dustin July 17, 2015

I thought that too but they filmed the videos around the same time and that is a very common and basic trick in photography/videography. This isn’t my favorite song from the released songs from presale but the material is dope

      • Trish July 17, 2015

The material isn’t dope, Dustin. It’s pop music in it’s most generic form have been done a million times. The material is commercial and easy to sell.

They filmed this video AFTER Choices, comparisons were made to Choices when Aubrey post it on instagram a few months ago

      • dustin July 18, 2015

oh trish. thats the funny thing about opinions… we all have one and they’re subjective as f*ck… and they were filmed VERY close to around the same time. and like i said to begin with, photographers and video directors have been using shadows since the dawn of photography so you can stop acting like dawn invented the wheel.

  4. Molly July 17, 2015

Solo Dawn effortlessly slays these blonde bimbos.

  5. Islandboi80 July 17, 2015

I’m not here for that dance music sound

  6. LoveBey July 17, 2015

The video is cool but the song is basic. I wasn’t expecting a lot to begin with though

  7. Vanity July 17, 2015

Do I think they are much better artists than Dawn? No.
Do I think what they are bringing is innovative and original? No.

But it’s top 40 material! It’s so generic and easy to listen too. Had they been new girls and younger I could see this idea of them as a duo doing that type of music going far.

I am not going to touch on their vocals and such because we know how that goes. lol

  8. What now July 17, 2015

    BASIC

  9. tey July 17, 2015

LIFE!!! I must admit i was expecting some bull. But they slayed. I cant hate even though i want to.

    FLOP

This will be huge in Europe! Huge in the EDM tents at festivals and floor fillers in the club.

    • Julian July 17, 2015

      No, it won’t.

      • Julian July 17, 2015

Believe me, I’m European, literally no one here listens to that kinda music, it’s just what Americans think Europeans listen to. But they really don’t.

  12. Julian July 17, 2015

I still can’t with that name. Also big LOL @ them for copying Dawn’s sound and visuals top to bottom, but I guess it’s smart of them not to force themselves to go in an urban direction that obviously doesn’t suit them. With that said, song and video are cute, but super basic (kinda like Shannon).

You can sense Aubrey’s extreme drive to make a name for herself though, it’s written all over this. So I’m not mad at them for trying, but this is nowhere near Dawn’s level.

  13. Rihboy July 17, 2015

Noise and a bunch of percusions !!! A mess! Nothing I would listen to or watch again.

  14. Joey July 17, 2015

It’s a bop. Of the 5 songs released today, this is probably my least favorite. Remember Me, Dreamsicle, and Eyes on Horizon are all wonderful. As a ride or die DAWN STAN, I almost feel (stupidly) guilty for even giving them a chance, but there is enough room in the industry (and on my iPhone) for all of these ladies. I’m happy they are succeeding and doing what they love. Are they Dawn level? Well, no–but who is? (Answer: VERY FEW IF ANY)

  15. Irv July 17, 2015

The Slayage is real. I’m here for all this. Least favorite song, yes, the rest of the EP however slays. Dawn stays like spaceships and UFO’s…reaching for this sound. Dawn doesn’t have the voice for the type of music she puts out. Period

I honestly had expected more from Aubrey’s career when she got fired after season 3 of MTB.. I thought she was the one with the most star appeal, and her first leaked songs and material done with Adonis was really awesome, but Aubrey appears to be thinking she needs to be something she’s not: She’s not the deepest lyricist or the woman with the most complex songs. That’s why her first songs were enjoyable; she is a “simple” (in the positive way of the word) woman selling “simple” songs. But then BTE came and I expected so much more of it, but everything was so obviously trying to be deep, which made it so bland. And now once again, this is her trying to be complex, when she’s not.
And we can all agree that Shannon – I love her to death, maybe she’s even my favorite member – didn’t have as much say as Aubrey in this whole project. Heck, this song is even directed by Justin Jones and Aubrey O’Day says VEVO. Shannon should just stick to Countrypop, that was nice and refreshing! 🙂
And then, the same as Aubrey is also happening to D. Woods now. I can honestly say Legalize Me was my jam in 2009, but I don’t think anything from the Grey Area or My Favorite Color is really on my iPod nowadays.
As far as Aundrea goes; I wish her all the best and I hope she’s happy, but I’m really sad that she’s no longer making music. However, it’s her life, so she has to live it.
And for Dawn: Armor On and everything pre-Armor On was awesome and then, now and then she releases something nice, but mostly, it’s just okay..
But I could’ve guessed it: I mean, Danity Kane and Welcome to the Dollhouse were killer albums with maybe 3 fillers tops, while DK3 had 3 good songs tops (Lemonade, Tell Me and All in a Day’s Work

This was my essay, thank you for reading! XD

  17. Quinn July 17, 2015

Honestly I’ve been getting my life from dumblonde since I preordered the album last night… Been a fan of dk since making the band, and didn’t know what to expect from these 2 but what I’ve heard so far is definitely something to bop to. I was thirsty for new music in my life and this quenched it a little.

  18. T Jay July 17, 2015

This was definitely a ripoff of Dawn’s “Projection” and Rihanna’s “You da one.” But it was nice that Aubrey let Shannon be featured on the song. Lol

  19. BOOBIE July 17, 2015

    That Beyonce ‘Ghost/Haunted’ video impact

  20. Casual-T July 17, 2015

It’s a good effort, but this is too high-art and abstract to work on the pop charts.

  21. Lexx July 17, 2015

Its a shame DK3 didn’t get a chance to be promoted properly. There were some decent tracks on the album. This song is terrible. And O’Day looks like a drunk blow up doll. Shannon should go solo.

  22. concitu July 18, 2015

Video not available in my country. How can you not make this worldwide in these day and age. I guess they’re really dumb

    • Ruben July 18, 2015

Go to Perez Hilton’s site. His version of the video is available in all countries. Well, at least in the Netherlands, where all the others weren’t.

  23. Kitty Puurrzz July 18, 2015

It doesn’t matter if it’s better than Dawn. Their music will be more successful. It’s exactly what everyone likes on radio.

  24. justmeeeee July 18, 2015

Dawn is ORIGINAL and extremely TALENTED.

These 2 knock-off want-a-be’s need to stop it

They are CLEARLY COPYING off of Dawn to stay afloat.

I just don’t see them going far at all…it was Super Stupid of them to ruin what was left of DK as a group. They were way too jealous of Dawn to be smart enough to use her.

And now look…all they are is 2 DB’s. The name says it ALL

  25. @JanetCIARA_ July 19, 2015

    GORL, GOODT F**-KING NIGHT!
Not here for this shitt at all, Not what I expected…. and I was so let down.

  26. Indie July 19, 2015

I Love it! Im not the biggest fan of Dawns material, I appreciate her originality but she’s a little to far left for me of recent, her first solo project was dope though, However ILOVE the Dumblonde album, it’s progressive but still good old fashioned pop music just the right mix, i’m here for it!
