If the Hot 100 is any indication, the future is looking very bright for rapper Fetty Wap.
After reigning over charts with his introductory hit ‘Trap Queen,’ the autotune assailant made his way to the top with its follow-up ‘My Way.’ Now, as tune ‘679’ gets cozy in the Hot 100’s top 10, he’s being greeted with history making news:
Fetty Wap is the first rapper to send his first three Hot 100 entries to the top 10 in more than a decade. In 2003-04, Chingy reached the region with his first three charted titles: “Right Thurr” (No. 2); “Holidae In” (featuring Ludacris and Snoop Dogg, No. 3); and “One Call Away” (featuring J. Weav, No. 2). The first rapper to go three-for-three in the top 10 from the start? M.C. Hammer, in 1990.
It’s certainly interesting to note the brevity of Chingy and Hammer’s careers, but will Fetty break the mold? Time will tell. Until then, get into this week’s chart check:
