Her career is legendary and that’s all that matters. She’s done very well for herself from the 80’s to the early 00’s. Most careers in music don’t hardly last that long.

5. Have a sold out tour in the United States.
6. Release the actual version of No Sleeep feat. J Cole that dominates the R&B charts with no promo.
7. And lastly it all started on her birthday with an announcement that she’s ready and heard her fans pleas for her to come back which had everyone buzzing with just that announcement.

Truth be told, Music Box on a certifications level (REAL SALES NOT BASED ON LABEL INFLATIONS/ESTIMATIONS) outsold HALF of Janet’s albums (GLOBALLY) put TOGETHER! Janet released & has been releasing albums since 1982. She actually has more FLOP albums, than actual successful ones.
Mariah Carey did what most VOCALIST do in their careers. USE THIER VOICES & record as much as possible in their primes. Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion etc… Were ALL releasing albums EVERY SINGLE YEAR & sometimes even releasing 2-3 albums per year.

You can easily take out “Rainbow, Butterfly, Emotions, Merry Christmas & #1’s”… And, Mariah’s record sales would STILL be higher than Janet’s (in the 1990s). So, that’s a lie. And, the only reason she was second to MC (only due to SINGLES chart success). Is because, Miss Jackson was releasing 6-9 singles per albums. While Tommy, STOPPED many singles from Mariah’s albums from becoming smash hits. Due to him, wanting to further her ALBUM sales.

I love Mariah Carey but some of her albums over certified for shipments and not sales but this is because of her label’s bragging rights. Study a little more and you can learn. Actually all of the top divas have been certified for shipments and not sales so it appears that they sold more than they actually have. Even Usher’s Confessions didn’t sell over 10 million but it is certified Diamond. Janet’s labels A&M and Virgin Records did not do this. Music Box only sold over 7 million in the US but it certified Diamond. Daydream sold 7.6 million and it is Diamond. Rhythm Nation has sold 9.5 million yet is not certified Diamond and should be. The janet. album has sold over 8 million and it is capable of being Diamond when adding in shipments. So technically, Janet Jackson has 2 Diamond albums in her catalog. So don’t come for Queen Janet Jackson unless you are ready. Yes Mariah has sold more than Janet but she also released a whole lot more. This is great for a single that hasn’t been performed live or promoted that hard. The 40+ divas in this decade aren’t going to be racing into the top 10 on the Hot 100, so I don’t know why people insist on being so unrealistic. In this group of women, JLO’s ‘On the Floor’ is still the single that came closest to reaching #1 (in the 10’s). Janet sure doesn’t need this song to do so, it certainly doesn’t make or break her. She has 10 #1’s and only EIGHT artists have more. I mainly look forward to that album drop and the tour! ‘No Sleep’ is doing all that I need it to, although I do anticipate that dance follow-up single.

But, Janet’s global selling power & consistent levels (of monster success) were not of a “Queen of Pop” level. Madonna was & will ALWAYS be the “Queen Of Pop”. She proved that in the 1980s. J. Cole really brought life into this song! It’s good and catchy but was just in need of some more umph and he brought it.

Personally this song does nothing for me. I don’t believe her distributor is looking for major sales. I believe her team is focusing more on the tour. On another note let’s not act like this song is not underperforming with Janet being gone musically almost a decade the anticipation has been very high and the response has been not that great hopefully the album will be worth the wait.
