Justin Bieber is back!

The once-embattled Pop star isn’t just aiming for maturer ground in his personal life, he’s doing so musically too.

Today brings with it the official debut of ‘What Do You Mean?’ – the lead single from the 21-year-old’s eagerly anticipated new album.

Crafted by Poo Bear, the production sees the former teen star on uptempo terrain.

Is it “the” hit that’ll wash away his public indiscretions? Take a listen below and let us know!

Mainstream’s love affair with EDM may have cooled in recent years, but JB draws on the genre in a way that manages to sound both fresh and engaging in 2015.

Though in no way earth shattering, ‘Mean’ is a solid step forward and successfully helps re-mould Justin into as a young man musically and vocally.

We approve…do you?

Why are these pop stars slaying me? First Rita now this? I love it. Very upbeat. I love liquor by CB too.

    Well done Justin.

You know, it’s definitely a nice song and for the most part his vocals are on point (I do, however, take issue with some of his adlibs) but, it just doesn’t sound like the single he needs right now, imo. I could hear this being a 3rd or 4th single. For me, this doesn’t set him apart from anyone. Does anyone remember the moment that was Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack”? A song with such a divergent sound really solidified his stance a force within pop music (and culture) and also said “I have a ‘grown man’s’ confidence”. I think Bieber could have used something like that. On another note, I see a lot of outlets reporting that skrillex also had something to do with the song. Does anyone know how true that is?

Skrillex produced the song. It’s true

      • JB August 28, 2015

        PooBear produced the song.

Not innovatif… i feel like he uses clean bandit musicality… this is some one else but i love the song…

Nice little song but he’s gonna have to do more to won over critics. Step on the right direction though

Cute, but not single worthy. I’m sure his fans will soak it up like a sponge tho and he’ll debut decently on the Hot 100.

Sounds identical to where are u now… Just different lyrics… Same melodies, same instrumental, same tone, same producers etc. would have liked it if Where are u now didn’t exist but it seems more like part 2 then a new single..

Cute little song, but the kind of song everybody could have sung but only Chris Brown, Jason Derulo or One Direction feat. Zayn could have turned it into a hit.

Justin better get his acting and songwriting skills on deck, musically something is lost and will not come back.

here is the thing… he is maturing in a weird way or perhaps it appears weird because he was shoved down our throats when he was a child, so I am trying to feel out this manly thing he is trying to transition into. it’s weird.
