Lady Gaga‘s comeback campaign continues to pick up pace.

Having earned rave reviews for her Jazz foray with Tony Bennett (a journey which spurned a Grammy and a successful world tour), the superstar’s industry praise is still pouring in aplenty. This time via Billboard, who have named the singer their Woman of the Year.

Full story below…

The ‘Bad Romance’ belter will formally receive the honor on December 11th at Cipriani Midtown in New York, with the ceremony itself being aired (for the first time) on Lifetime December 18th.

Janice Min, co-president of Billboard’s parent company (Guggenheim Media) gushed:

“Billboard’s Woman of the Year has always represented the finest in music, and the anointing of a key influential figure who drove the conversation for that year. No one embodies that more than Lady Gaga in 2015.

From her show-stopping performance at the Oscars, to her co-headlining tour, to her philanthropic outreach and foundation promoting youth wellbeing and empowerment, to her new role as TV star, there is no woman dominating popular culture tastes and its evolution as much as she is today. What a force.”

Liz Gateley, executive vice president and head of programming at Lifetime added:

“We’re delighted to partner with Billboard on this special event, bringing it to a mass audience for the first time ever. Lady Gaga is an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and fortitude that Lifetime celebrates, and we are thrilled to offer our platform to recognize her in every way she deserves {Source}

Congrats are most certainly in order. Here at TGJ, we believe in ploughing through the smoke and mirrors of the industry and celebrating great talent when and where we see it. Gaga, through all her career highs and lows, has consistently remained just that – an impeccably great talent.

On paper too, this serves as a great press pre-cursor to the arrival of her hotly anticipated ‘ARTPOP’ follow-up.

I mean, I like her but there are far more deserving women in this industry who’ve been out LONGER and done far more than what she has. I swear, politics are death of every icon in the industry these days!!!

  8. S****** Blonde September 29, 2015

Her comeback campaign is focusing on reminding people that she’s talented (The oscar performance, a new sophisticated look…), which is a great move but let’s be honest here this “honor” was bought by her team, it’s not a secret, they pay billboard to write positive articles about her but woman of the year, really?…Taylor is slaying every artist male or female right now, her album and tour are massive, like i don’t even like the girl but she deserve this honor more than anyone else.

    • mr.m September 29, 2015

Sadly, she build a career out of her image
Her freak image overshadowed her talent.
Once people got tired of her freak ass image, she wanted to let them know thats she’s talented too ..
      ITS TOO LATE.
unfortunately, it’s hard for her to comeback again, people just lost interest on her.

      • #JACKIE September 29, 2015

Yes the FUXK she does b****. Do you?

  14. JanStan September 29, 2015

Y’all Gaga haters just silly actin like cheek to cheek didn’t happen. What Gaga did was raise the bar on what it means to be talented and how to rise above a culture that refuses to let artists try different things (ahem Rihannas last 3 singles). Good for her. An actual award stanning for talent over commercial success.

  15. Cough Cough September 29, 2015

Gaga is a great,, unique, authentic talent. Congrats.

  16. Taylor’s Gambit September 29, 2015

THIS TWO GENITALS HAVING B**** HAS BEEN FLOPPING SINCE OCT 2013 AND SHE GETS AWARD OF THE YEAR?
    PAYOLA INDEED

  17. JOHNVIDAL September 29, 2015

The respect of the industry: she has it. More now than ever, with a successful and award winning Jazz album and this years performance at the oscars. But commercially she hasn´t even released anything this year, so it´s totally weird that they give her this now, coming from Billboard, which is only about charts.
But I won´t complain. As long as they give these awards to talented people I´m ok.

  18. truthtea September 29, 2015

Now, you know they created that Millennium Award for Beybonic!

  19. R8LATE September 29, 2015

Should be going to Taylor honestly .. but hey. Shake it off

    • Taylor’s Gambit September 29, 2015

THIS IS THE LAST TIME I SAY I’M NOT RIHSLAVEY…
    HERE IT GOES:
    “I’M NOT RIHSLAVEY”

  21. JanStan September 29, 2015

Taylor has been the biggest commercial success no doubt and if that’s what they were going off of she would have gotten it (again). But its various things. Glad they are actually recognizing someone who’s doing things differently and being successful at it. And lets be honest, talent wise Gaga is one of the few who could even be mentioned in that debate. As much success as Taylor is having commercially I don’t think anyone would debate her talent level versus Gagas and Gagaz current commercial success vs. Taylor’s.

It’s absolutely ridiculous. Rihanna should’ve been named “Woman of The Year” with her achievements in 2015 with no album out.

    • Taylor’s Gambit September 29, 2015

      LOL lol LOL lol LOL

      • Taylor’s Gambit September 29, 2015

AT YOUR COMMENT…… AND YOUR AVI

    • BEY>RIH September 29, 2015

Mhmm, you keep thinking that sis. ????????

      • .::Centurion::. September 29, 2015

Uh huh. The real kii is that Beyonce couldn’t amass these receipts with or without an album out. ????
        Rihanna (So far) in 2015:
        —Won her 8th Grammy.
—Became the Creative Director and Brand Ambassador for Puma.
—BBHMM is the most viewed televized performance of 2015.
—Garnered her 26th Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (FFS).
—Went #1 on the Official Video Chart in the UK, with ‘Home’ selling over 100K copies!
—Became the most streamed female artist on Spotify with 2 Billion streams and remains the most streamed female artist in the world.

—Named the best-selling Digital artist of all time by RIAA and/or Billboard.

  23. Rosie September 29, 2015

Billboard gave Ciara this award in 2008 right after her career took a nosedive. It’s obvious that this thing is paid for by the artists’ PR teams. The only time it was truly deserved was when Katy and Taylor both received it during their peaks.
Congrats though. AHS Hotel’s ratings will be very interesting.

    • BEY>RIH September 29, 2015

And when Beyonce had her most commercially successful era (2009).

      • Rosie September 29, 2015

        Forgot about that too.
The first time they gave this out in like 2007 it went to Reba (????) and in 2010 Fergie got it, so obviously this award isn’t really that prestigious.

    • .::Centurion::. September 29, 2015

Ciara? In 2008? Interesting. After hearing that, well, they can keep it.

    • #JACKIE September 29, 2015

Lana will never b****. Nor will the h** in your avi, d***.

      • Rosie September 29, 2015

The kii is even with Honeymoon flopping both albums still outsold Jackii in like a week, so I don’t see why you’re trying it.

  24. What now September 29, 2015

Congrats G. She mite just make a comeback after all w/ her weird a**.

  25. King Mark111 /.\ September 29, 2015

Well they gave this same title to this woMAN after she peaked, starting flopping and is now the biggest flop ever. That year that album flopped (this was in 2008, the album was pushed back so many times that it wasn’t released til April of 2009), THAT movie never seen the light of day and was pushed back for YEARS and what?
