Did You Miss It? Tamar Braxton Belts ‘Circles’ On ‘Wendy’

With new album ‘Calling All Lovers’ in stores this week, Tamar Braxton is calling on the masses to pick-up the ballad-heavy set.

As reported, the promotional push for the project (the follow-up to 2013’s Grammy nominated ‘Love & War’) saw her stop by The Wendy Williams Show, where she dished on music and motherhood, as well as her current stint on ‘Dancing With The Stars.’

The 38-year-old also hit the stage to perform new number ‘Circles’ – a showing which has just surfaced online.

Find out how she fared after the jump…

Very strong in places, questionable in others. All in all, a commendable showing – especially in era where so few posses such vocal prowess.

In regard to Ms. Braxton’s album, we’re opting to “live with it” for a while before casting full judgement. Upon first listen, it’s incredibly down-tempo and runs risk of sounding like one-long-song. Yet, as we learned with her last LP, given time to marinate some real smashes can show themselves (see: ‘Pieces’ and ‘All The Way Home’).

I listened to “CALLING ALL LOVERS.” For all The Real R&B Lovers Tamar has done it again this album has topped Love and war and she has bettered her sound which is really hard because Tamar is amazing in the genre of RnB. I’m throughly pleased and I can now fully accept all the delays it was truly worth the wait. She deserves to be heard. Stand Out Tracks to me are
    Angels and Demons
    Broken records
    King
    Making Love
    Must be good to you
    Coming Home
    Circles
    S.O.N
    p.s I love them all
Congrats Tamar I’m so proud you are truly a fighter. Your music inspires me so much.

    • Taylor Tart October 3, 2015

I’m gonna have to agree with you on this one…..
One of the best albums released this year…..
RNB lovers I guees it made up after that tragic Janet comeback album

      • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

I agree people have lost the art to appreciate beautiful slow songs it’s like thats what amazing R&B is beautiful ballads that is full of emotions on a great beat.
Thats what I fell in love with in the 90’s TAMAR BRAXTON delivered this and then some she really embodies R&B in 2015 and if people can just listen to her voice without what they think they no about her life or personal biases they will be doing the genre a great service. We need to support the real artists giving quality as opposed to other crap that they are selling as R&B

    • Ian October 5, 2015

Who ever is marketing this cd SHOULD BE FIRED.

1st Single should have been: SIMPLE THINGS and
      2nd Single should have been : Broken Record;

Instead they release the worst 3 songs on the CD first. and She sings the wrong songs live. No NO NO.

The black community has lived SIMPLE THINGS. Thats the song and the stand out vocal. Best vocal she has ever done.

      • The Real Fan October 7, 2015

If I were her i would leave her record lablel after this album because they really set her up to fail. EPIC sucks.

  2. Stephy. October 3, 2015

She looks nice. I’m actually enjoying her album. This was a half-assed post, Sam. And, you sure did take yo sweet time posting it too. But, atleast it’s something. I guess…

    • truth(nicki the reason A.I. is cancelled and Meek playn ha!!) October 3, 2015

Sam hits daily made a very prelimenary prediction on Janets and Tamar a numbers but they say and better estimate will be give moday. Post it so we will see they nomber go up. 105k Janet and 43k for Tamar

    • truth(nicki the reason A.I. is cancelled and Meek playn ha!!) October 3, 2015

Bit they said Janet is eaisly headn for number 1 hontea

  3. OMG Logic!!! October 3, 2015

The song is cute, but I’ma need Tamar to sing the song standing up next time so she doesn’t struggle with that climax.

  4. Taylor Tart October 3, 2015

Sam you are a retarted Cuunt how are you gonna post this after not posting about her Amazing album…. Even after you were begged by the commentators

    • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

You can tell this is a biased music site. If it weren’t clearly there would have been a post already. Theres a clear personal agenda/ Bias trying to push for one artist as opposed to celebrating great music in general. People that cry that R&B is dead this is why things die. how can he say *one long song* wtf

      • Ian October 5, 2015

,,,so why do you keep coming back. Black women and gays love the drama. Your tired ass should be out looking for a decent man instead of on this site bashing everyone.

  5. Shannon October 3, 2015

She’s a great studio singer. Her album is wonderful .

    • Ciah’s Turtle October 5, 2015

      lol shade. but yes

  6. Taylor Tart October 3, 2015

Best R&B album this year after Jordin Sparks Right Here Right Now and Jackie

    • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

I swear you read my mind I have created my winter R&B playlist with Tamar’s album and Jordin Sparks album and some songs from Teyana Taylor’s mixtape that she recently dropped. This is the only music thats moving in the R&B genre.

      • Credits October 4, 2015

I still think that jazmine Sullivan’s reality show is the strongest female r&b album this year so far.

    • Rcw October 3, 2015

Check out Tamia’s latest “Love Life” it’s stellar!

      • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

Thanks for the recommendation. I also love Tamia’s old stuff so I will check it out.

      • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

Yes, “Sandwich and a Soda” is iconic! She delivered on that album.

    • Navy Gravy October 5, 2015

@Credits I think that “Calling All Lovers” and “Reality Show” are neck and neck for R&B album released this year. Theyre both good bodies of work

  7. Black power October 3, 2015

I’m soooo over this bias ass site…. Back to r***** I go!!!!

  8. Carry ON! October 3, 2015

Real music is back… I’m getting Tamar’s album with Janet’s too.

  9. Cassandra chen October 3, 2015

Tamar’s album is okay, its not amazing. We get great RNB music every year, some of you just choose not to listen because they are not your fave. I want Tamar to work on her live performances, good in the studio but forgettable live. Some of you just don’t like the truth..

      • Cassandra chen October 3, 2015

Boo you are a Stan so you wouldn’t agree with the truth. Tamar is in this game for too long to be giving those live performances. There are artists now that just started that gives amazing live performances. Stay in denial.. Another thing by releasing her album Oct 2 did not make any sense,Epic did her a disservice. Ijs

  10. Haterz Gon’ Hate October 3, 2015

I bought the album and it’s solid, vocally I agree there are few ‘bringing it’ and singing real R&B these days and it’s sorely needed because what’s out there is blah.

HOWEVER – this is one of
My fave songs of the CD and I know people lip sync for reasons but why did she lip the first half of this song so obviously, why did the engineers so crudely switch from pre record to live vocal so abruptly and why was the backing track so loud (and out of sync in places). For one of the first televised performances of your new album can we get it together and make it more polished? And why can’t she sing this song live?

    • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

She sang the whole song live. its just the pre recorded vocals she uses as her backing vocals were not in sync.

  11. King Mark111 /.\ October 3, 2015

She looks great. She started out great but was straining at the end, nothing honey and tea can’t fix. I don’t like this Janet vs Tamar ish, support BOTH! First time in years that we’re raving about r&b albums in a LONG time.

  12. Taylor Tart October 3, 2015

Yesss sis i’m loving your comments and thumbin them up…..
Maybe by Teyana was one of the best RNB singles released last year and I still listen to it today and I’ll check this mixtape of hers……
I also can’t wait for Christina to release her EP rumored 30 Oct cause I loved the songs she released earlier this year Rebel and We ain’t woried

    • Taylor Tart October 3, 2015

      Ughh @therealstan

    • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

The year Teyana Taylor’s vii album released, that was the best R&B album to me that year. I still listen to it now. She did great her mixtape was amazing just to short imo I can’t wait for her next album. Love and War, Two Eleven, Vii, Right here Right Now, Calling all Lovers, Reality Show full R&B albums that I can listen to all the way through. I’m just here for the music no nonsense just emotive music.

      • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

        @Taylor Tart

  13. StrawberryMuffin24 October 3, 2015

I love Tamar new album it’s great from start to finish every song is great I loved Love and War but I think she topped it with Calling All Lovers she did that!

The performance was good just a few not so good notes at the end but not horrible at all! I still love her performance of KING on The Real amazing vocally!

  14. Jazz October 3, 2015

I like the album and I see the improvement which is always a positive. But I have the admit the execution for the promotion for this era has been messy and all over the place compared to the last album. It feels thrown together at the last minute like I can’t tell what’s her official new single with all these new songs at once.Which is not good for drawing in new listeners and maintaining fans. It’s feels like her music is her last priority now besides the real, clothing, and DWTS. I feels like all the right the resources(her style, hair, makeup, vocal, and songs) are there but not used properly.

  15. What now October 3, 2015

This performance had a few struggling parts but muah can deal. I heard most of T’s album last nite and I will give her credit that it waz gud. King, Angels & Demons, Free Fallin’ (she sounded like 2005 Mariah on this one), Makin Love (she sounded like Toni on this one), Circles, and Must Have Been Good to You (fav).
I’m just n muah feelings on how Kanye can do work 4 Tamar, but avoid R8… 🙁

  16. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 3, 2015

Can we please not with the Janet vs. Tamar ridiculousness. It’s very silly. BOTH ladies have released stellar albums. Let’s congratulate them both.

I’ve been riding with Tamar since her self-titled debut. Loved her then. Love her now. I can’t tear myself away from “Unbreakable” yet but as soon as I do, I’m diving into “Calling All Lovers.”

  17. grapejuicefan October 3, 2015

I didn’t like it the only songs that I really liked were the singles,we all know “Let Me Know” flopped but it should have been apart of yhr album anyways.

  18. SamsTopHesMyBottom October 3, 2015

Sam is just insecure that giving Tamar attention would take away from Janet. Any other time he woulda given a review whether he liked it or not. Pressed bottom

  19. Kitty Puurrzz October 3, 2015

This album is a snooze. It reminds me of Monica’s last album … Mostly ballads that sound the exact same with the same topic. Crazy how yall were saying Mo’s album was a bore but yet praising TAMAR for the SAME THING. Anywho, Bring on #CodeRed Mo .

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 3, 2015

When is Code Red coming? I’m actually really excited to hear that album.

    • SamsTopHesMyBottom October 3, 2015

Monica’s range isn’t even close, Monica’s runs are ugly, Monica has an extremely fast verbratto which can make her sound goatish at times and has made the same album her last 4 albums. This album is far above anything Monica is capable of, sorry

    • Zena October 3, 2015

Tamar’s music shits on Monica’s post After The Storm. Her hood yodeling is a thing of the past. No ones here for that s***. Monica doesn’t wanna see Tamar with the vocals.

      • Girl hush October 5, 2015

Tamar screaming on tracks doesn’t mean she’s a better singer than everybody just because she sings soprano that means her vocals are LOUDER not better. Clearly by this performance I just watched live singing is not Tamar strong suit.

  20. Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

“Angels, please protect my love”. I am so in love with “Calling All Lovers” as a body of work, a modern R&B masterpiece. Opening the album with “Angels & Demons” was such a smart idea and it works well with conveying the mood of the album in its entirety. Also, ending the album with “King” was perfect. It was like a rollercoaster ride coming to a gentle stop. Great way to finish the album. You end where you started. Like I said before, I need something from the album dominating radio, although I’m happy she’s promoting the album. Grammy’s, here she comes. Reserve a seat for her in the front row because she will be cleaning up the R&B categories with Janet.

    • The Real Fan October 3, 2015

You should get the Deluxe version if you don’t have it already because it ends with *Coming Home* which is one of the best songs on the album imo.

      • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

I didn’t realize there was a deluxe edition, but it looks like I’ll be purchasing another copy. Thanks for the heads-up!

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 3, 2015

No joke, “Angels & Demons” is a masterpiece. Tamar’s writing is supreme on this song.

      • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

Oh, how I agree! And the best part is SHE WROTE IT BY HERSELF! Yes, as Tamar would say, “SHE DID THAT!” That song is nothing but the truth. Love has both a good side and a bad side, and all we want is the good side but we have to realize that we can’t have the good without the bad, so all we can do is ask the angels to protect out love from the bad, the demons. She got her point across clearly with the lyrics.

  21. HOWYOULIKEIT October 3, 2015

I started listening to her music since catfish.
    Honestly she is really talented.
Love and war and this one are so good

  22. Dossome October 3, 2015

Can someone get Janet to Promote, ugh…HDD predictions are out and she’s likely gonna debut at #1 with sales of over 100k.Her album is a masterpiece that deserves to be heard…Night>>>>>>>
Oh,congrats Tamar as well,I’ve heard great stuff about her album as well.definitely gonna check it out.

    • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

Just over 100,000 copies? That’s it? This woman has been away from music and missed to death for too long to pull mediocre numbers like that.Even Madonna did that with her opening week for “Revel Heart”. They need to update those predictions because I’m sure she’ll do close to 200,000 copies.

      • Zena October 3, 2015

You’re delusional if you think Janet will do 200k

    • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

Why is that delusional? Did “No Sleeep” not chart on the Hot 100 and dominate all other R&B/contemporary radio formats? Is she not currently embarking on a sold-out World Tour with 85+ dates at arenas throughout the U.S. alone? Did B E.T. not create a random award just to celebrate and tribute her on national television, in which more than 8 million people viewed? She will do those numbers regardless of any obstacles she faces.

      • SamsTopHesMyBottom October 3, 2015

It’s still delusional, no sleep was like a top 60 or something and r&b charts are really nothing seeing as though Ciara’s “I bet” is the only certified r&b single this year by a single chick. It’s predicted 90k and 100 something with streams. It is what it is.

    • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 3, 2015

Well, if that’s their final prediction, then so be it. She’ll make proper use of what she starts with and she’ll still earn a platinum certification. Either way, she’ll remain unbothered a d this era will be successful for her.

  23. Shante October 3, 2015

    Go Tamar!!!

  24. isi October 4, 2015

    She sounded ok.
Tamar’s album is one the best R&B album this year? Nah, it’s not,you can really tell how limited musically the regulars here are. This album is contemporary R&B at the most, not pure R&B. You can like R&B music and not like Tamar easily!!Then to release on the same day as Janet(Another boring over hyped album metacritic has it at 75 lol),makes her and her label look crazy.Like the album before,it wont reach 500K in the US and sell less internationally.Stick to the real and the Braxton, she’s never getting a certification for her music!

    • JazThatBoi October 4, 2015

How do you sell less internationally when US numbers are part of the international numbers?! lol stupid. Stop hating. And duh she may not be the best R&B album of the year but there are very few mainstream R&B artist out there so in that respect her album is definitely up there. I feel like your not gonna get it tho and have some stupid response to my comment so whatever. but yea that’s my 2 cents.

  25. mememme October 4, 2015

I find here performance really ugly, there is another nature about it, and those faces just put me off(must be all the plastic surgery). I actually like her voice and the album is ok.

But there has been better albums out this year. Jazmine Sullivan for one. The problem with all these so called ‘Tamartians’ they aren’t actually R&B fans just fans of Tamar’s on tv persona.

    • mememme October 4, 2015

Sorry that was supposed to say ‘nothing natural’

  26. Keith October 5, 2015

Congrats to Tamar on an album well done. I wish her well and that her album will have some longevity. I don’t like it more than “Love & War” precisely BECAUSE there are songs that sound like Jasmine Sullivan. Tamar has her own sound and when she loses it or doesn’t use it she loses me. BUT…I will see her in concert when I can.

  27. It aint too cool to be hiymaqwerbyfggha October 5, 2015

nice performance well damn she got some good song on her second album go tamara b girl
