Billboard Blockbuster: Adele Tops Hot 100 With ‘Hello’ / Sells 1.1 Million US Downloads In 1 Week

Adele has done it.

The British singer has bulldozed all expectations with new single ‘Hello,’ which has opened atop of the Billboard Hot 100 today.

Its first week sales? Over 1 million!

Details on the incredible feat after the jump…

The haunting track, which ushers in the star’s third album ’25,’ officially sold 1,112,000 in the first US tracking week following its October 23rd release.

Not only does the single end the six-week stay at the top spot for ‘The Hills’ by The Weeknd, it breaks a new record.

For, its 1.1 million debut sales makes it the first song ever to sell over 1 million downloads in seven days. ‘Hello’ is also the most downloaded song in a week ever; Flo’Rida’s 2009 hit ‘Right Round’ previously held that honor (that song sold 636,000).

Other notable achievements for the Greg Kurstin production are:

  • It’s the 24th song in the Hot 100’s history to open at #1
  • It becomes Adele’s fourth chart-topper – joining ’21’ singles ‘Rolling In The Deep,’ ‘Someone Like You,’ and ‘Set Fire To The Rain.’
  • On the steaming front, ‘Hello’ was streamed Stateside 61.6 million times in just one week.

The slayage is real, unforgiving, and utterly amazing! So deserved too.

We hope the commercial dominance of such qualitative music opens up the door for more…and inspires some of her contemporaries to bring their triple “A” game.

It’s Adele season and we’re ready for the ride!

THANK GOD SHE HAS RETURNED – REAL VOCALS, NO AUTO-TUNE. VOCALS LIKE THE WHITNEY/OLDSCHOOL MARIAH VOCALS.

GOODBYE RIHANNA, AUTO-TUNED BEYONCE AND CIARA

The song is average and singing is just ok, this is NOT a true soul singer or soul stirring song. I wont be buying her dpressing music…

  2. Lana Del Zave November 2, 2015

Dispicable! I love Adele but she’s not making anything Jazmine Sullivan hasn’t. Privilege is so REAL. I did buy Hello by the way I’m just disgusted by how crazy her slayage is when this proves EVERYONE in this genre could have a shot at this type of success. All the best to her. Looking forward to 25.

    • ????Queen Molly???? November 2, 2015

Who is Jazmine Sullivan? We are talking about Adele here. Take your bitter ass somewhere else.

      • Lana Del Zave November 2, 2015

You know exactly who she is u block headed b****. I seen you comment under posts about her before too. I have Adele her props I just stated my opinion. U broke ass h**

      • ????Queen Molly???? November 2, 2015

    • Dev November 2, 2015

Oh, STFU with that tired as argument!

If you want BLACK ARTISTS to sell, go and SUPPORT AND BUY their albums like WHITE PEOPLE supprt and buy country etc.

      • Lana Del Zave November 2, 2015

Umm I buy albums from black artists I support white artists too. I was stating an opinion. I’m sure this is coming from somebody who illegally downloads and hides behind a blog name all day. F*** outta here

      • Lmfao_Hoe November 2, 2015

@Lana oh you stfu, why Lana’s album did crack up the same results as the last LP did? I mean she does have fans right? White fans. But forget that s***, Dev is 100%. And stop blaming it on black consumers when you know damn well the industry isnt trying to push your our R&Bs out like they did in the 90s.

      • Lmfao_Hoe November 2, 2015

@lana I’m sorry boo I meant to shade the other two. Not you but @Dev @Molly

      • Dev November 2, 2015

Still here talking about black soul music not selling and why Adele is???

        LMFAOOOOOOO.

Sit down, sis. Go and buy 4949485858485 copies of monicas album and at least let it chart in the top 10? KIII. 😉

  3. Slay_Hive November 2, 2015

DAAAAAMMMN Adele!! Can you please let ALL of our fave’s borrow that magical lamp for just one night? ???? All of this sudden slayage is out of this world. The song is pretty decent but what is it about her that is so special?? Lol And I’m not denying her obvious talent either, mad biitches!

  4. Dev November 2, 2015

She is the UNDISPUTED “SALES” QUEEN of this generation thus far.

I haven’t known artists to have BLOCKBUSTER sales such as this since the 1990’s (and prior to that) or Shania Twain and Norah Jones in the early 00’s perhaps.

HATERS WILL HATE and now come with 38475849391294 excuses as to why she is SLAYING but what’s new!!!

PLATINUM IN THE FIRST WEEK! DAMN MOTHA.

  5. Dev November 2, 2015

The only other WHITE artist who is selling like this, or close to it, is TAYLOR SWIFT and that sl*t definitely doesn’t deserve too!!!

As much as I can’t stand the flea hive and their cheif mosquito, I’d LOVE IT if she (Bey) were to sell like this… or RIHANNA as they’re the only BLACK ARTISTS doing it this generation. 😉 😉 😉

    • AJ November 2, 2015

Rihanna doesn’t deserve to sell this many records. All she does is pop her p*ssy and song about clubs or men. It’s not a good look, at least Slaydele’s music is classy and universally appealing. I’d much rather the generation of tomorrow followed in Adele’s footsteps…

      • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

No, studio artist like Rihanna don’t deserve this type of success, but there are a shitload of OTHER talented black vocalist who do!

  6. ????Queen Molly???? November 2, 2015

These girls can’t take Adeles slayage…. Bringing up Jazmine sullivan like anyone here uses her kiii. Let Adele have her moment cowards.

    • Ok November 2, 2015

Shut your flip flopping ass up no one even claims you , you stopped stanning for iggy and ciara and started stanning for bey out of no where and you still get dragged the hive dont even accept you haha

    • Lana Del Zave November 2, 2015

Lmao u pressed as f***. Ole flip flopping ass b****. I bet you illegally download music too. I should buy You a copy of J. Sullivan’s last album and throw it at your big ass head.

    • truth(Janet is QWEEN, MaDINOSAUR is a flop! Deal!) November 3, 2015

Oney, when will Cici?? THATS the real kii. Ho

  7. Ok November 2, 2015

Over hyped Cow!! She’s only seeling this much off of over shipments and hype

    • ????Queen Molly???? November 2, 2015

      The jealousy lmao kiii

      • Ok November 2, 2015

  8. LOL November 2, 2015

LOL BEYONCE WILL NEVER. EVER LOL.

    • ????Queen Molly???? November 2, 2015

      And neither will gaga b****

    • Ok November 2, 2015

But beyonce has longevity and power lets see if adele can make to the 10 year mark beyonce has been at it for 20 years and she’s still selling out arenas and stadiums remember britney used to sell like adele but after 2003 she became a flop hasbeen

      • Memo November 2, 2015

Not even in her prime has Beyoncé sold like Adele or Britney. You tried.

Don’t come with the she’s-an-R&B-artist, she-doesn’t-care, she-sells-out-stadiums excuses because they are so old.

      • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

As a Lady Gaga fan, you have absolutely no room to talk b****. Her 15 minutes of fame ended 5 years ago.

    • killian November 2, 2015

Beyonce is Black dumb to put her here

      • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

How is that relevant? Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Whitney, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Boyz II Men, Drakeisha, and millions of others are all Black and sell millions of albums. STOP IT with the excuses.

  9. Dev November 2, 2015

What’s funny is that QUEEN WHITNEY and KING MICHAEL sold like this quite frequently in the 1980s and 1990s, especially with their first 3/4 albums but were soon rejected by the BLACK community for being sell outs and “too white”. They said WHITNEY HAD NO SOUL and called her “White”ney Houston and said MICHAEL WAS A WANNABE WHITE MAN!!! They did the same to Prince, Tina Turner, Diana Ross etc. all at one point or another. It’s what they do. I know a lot black people who buy r&b music today but a lot do not and then moan when it’s not successful. That’s just how it is. Also, always acting like every white artist out today is selling like Adele… LMAO. Lana del rey FLOPPED. Demi Lovato FLOPPED. Selena Gomez FLOPPED. Justin Bieber and one direction will do well but will have no longevity and FLOP in the end. Mile Cyrus FLOPPED. Jessie J FLOPPED. So…

    • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

      Stop.

      • Dev November 2, 2015

        Ima say…

        no.

      • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

He spoke 100% truth. Jesus Christ, Tina Turner left the damn country because Black people completely turned on her. Guess who opened their arms and took her in with endless love? Aussies, the Swiss, the Dutch, Brits, Spaniards, and American Southerners. In other words, when her people abandoned her CAUCASIANS embraced Tina Turner and picked her up and made her the icon she is today.

Dev is the only one here speaking it how it is. Black people abandon their artists on a whim and then attack successful White artists when they succeed.

    • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Lets call a spade, a spade! In the UK, black artists have been pushed out of R&B. White singers like Adele, Sam Smith, Jessie J and Ed Sheeran are now the new faces of soul and R&B while black and mixed singers like Emeli Sande, Estelle, and Leona Lewis are ignored by the media. In the future, I see the same thing happening in America. Remember that Rock and Roll is primarily a combination of “African-American genres” such as blues, boogie woogie, jump blues, and jazz. Today, Rock is considered “white music” and Black artists have completely been pushed out. The same will happen in American Hip Hop and R&B in a few years. But Im sleep though…

      • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

No one b1tches and moans about how Black artists dominate the music scene in African countries do they? Why would you expect European countries to be dominated by non-White artists?

The US is special in that we have massive diversity so you see Black artists dominate the music charts then Adele or Basic Swift will release an album and dominate the charts. Then Thighyonce or the Goat release and dominate and so on and so on.

      • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Your ignorance irritates my f****** soul.

  10. DIABETES UNBOTHERED November 2, 2015

Not an actual can’t but hello is my fav track from adele. Idk who brings up jasmine strigglin on every adele post. Jasmine isn’t successful not cuz she’s blk or darkskin but because she sucks. Beys name is also brought up a lot as it she’s not the best black album seller this decade. Only ones saling more are white acts like justin taylor and adele. Bey been in the game 18 years. Adele is sales queen! There should be no hate towards these 2 there the best this entir generation has to offer like it or not and they are huge fans of eachother. Bey has the acclaim grammys and tours on lock this decade while adele has the sales.

    • King November 2, 2015

Baby, if you think Jazmine Sullivan sucks you may need to get your ears checked. You may not like her but to say she sucks is a bit much…

      • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

She doesn’t suck, but she definitely lacks an “it” factor to set her apart. She just reminds of that really good singer you hear at your local jazz bar not someone that blows you away on television.

  11. Ok November 2, 2015

She only sells this much off of over shipments and hype boring ass tramp

  12. SMH November 2, 2015

Smh at all these excuses. Y’all know damn well she’s selling like this because she’s WHITE. A fat white girl that sings has always been a novelty in the music business. Remember Susan Boyle? Deny it all you want, Adele wouldn’t be selling like this if she was a black woman, bottom line. And I guarantee you she’ll stop selling when they find the next fat white girl with a voice.

    • AnnaliseKeatingsNewWig November 2, 2015

And where is Susan Boyle now? She’s 50+ year old woman that has never kissed a man before and her last album sold 22K.

    • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

You’re the only one making excuses. What was Aretha’s reason for selling? She’s Black and as fat as a whale and has always sold well. Whitney was Black and as skinny as a crack wh ore at one point, and she sold fantastically. All I hear are excuses. Adele is talented and her music is far reaching.

  13. ????Queen Molly???? November 2, 2015

@Dev lmao these hoodrats are so mad over Adeles slayage legit screaming rn

  14. Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Nothing that you’ve said thus far is factual. So have a seat, and dont speak unless spoken to, you cross burning white hood wearing p****.

  15. dee November 2, 2015

Very overrated jazmine sing just as good but she don’t sell adele is over hyped period

    • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

Jazmine Sullivan is your typical bland generic singer. You can find plenty of her at your local jazz club.

  16. Dev November 2, 2015

    @Queen Molly…

    RIGHT!

    LMFAO.

    I truly cannot.

Talking about Jazmine Sullivan and the fact that she isn’t selling… Nobody wants to hear that GHETTO HOODRAT sing about the same, tired s*** that EVERY other Black R&B singer sings about and listen to the same, tired as runs and riffs! If they want their faves hood anthems to do well, then go and buy it! That applies to K.Michelle, Keyshia. C and Ledisi. Look at Tamars last sales… I bet the majority who bought her last album were whites or latinos. LMAO. KIII. 😉

    • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Oh, so Jasmine Sullivan’s a ghetto hoodrat now????

  17. Slay_Hive November 2, 2015

Bringing up MJ, Whitney or whoever else will not change the fact that Adele’s success can be contributed mostly thanks to her skin color. A black woman with the same amount of talent(even MORE), with the same body type( bigger or smaller) would NEVER reach this level of fame and success in Adele’s genre of music in 2015!! That’s just being real. Hello would be overlooked or unheard of if Jazmine Sull, Ledisi, Jill Scott ETC had orf rleased it. #FACTS Adele has been over-hyped as this real blue-eyed soul singer, which is perceived to be “better” and more profitable than the originators of the genre, in mainstream’s eyes. Adele is talented. I will not deny that but she is quite basic IMO and her music can be relateable but repetitive and boring. Her slayage is expected but I don’t get the hype.

    • BeyRihLiyah November 2, 2015

      preach!!

    • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

No it can’t. I find it comical that the only people that EVER bring up race are Black people. The only consumers that look at an artist’s physical features are teenage girls and that’s when it comes to their favorite boy bands. The general public wants to be moved and catered to. Adele gives them that. Bruno Mars gave them that for 14 weeks, Wiz Khalifa gave them that for 10+ weeks, The Weekend has been giving them that all year.

Stop discrediting White artists like Adele who literally worked 4 years on an album to make it the success that it is just so that bitter Black people can come in and credit it solely to her skin color. It’s petty and insulting to real talent of which there is so little these days.

  18. Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Jasmin Sullivan isn’t the only exceptionally talent soul artist being screwed over either. What about Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Chrisette Michelle, or Ledisi…the list goes on!

    • #TeamTinashe Stan (“Player” Music Video Comes Out Today) November 2, 2015

      Agreed

    • Lmfao_Hoe November 2, 2015

and these women can sing and blow Adele away. This whole thing is no different than back then when Elvis was claim the king of Rock by white people all while Jackie Wilson, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix ect were all at their finest (prime) and we’re obviously talented than him. How the f*** he earned such a title when he waa stealing from our culture (singing style, he jacked “Jackie” sound, songs that were originally sung by blacks and didn’t give them their royalties, dance, and style of fashion.)

    • OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

They aren’t being screwed over. That would suggest that someone is actively trying to hinder their success. Learn how to phrase your arguments please. As weak and lacking in substance as they are, at least try to form them correctly. Back to the point, their voices and songs aren’t appealing to the masses. That’s not Adele’s fault.

  19. Ok November 2, 2015

This fat p**’s hype will die down soon just like it did with britney

  20. #TeamTinashe Stan (“Player” Music Video Comes Out Today) November 2, 2015

The music industries answer. Adele is soaring!
I bought the single when it came out and haven’t stopped listening to it.
And since I like dragging it, why is this little man named Molly trying so hard? LOL hehe, It is time to get a job, you’re on here all the time when I’m on (which is not much). And let’s not forget you’re using Adele and Beyonce to hide the fact your a stan for Cedric Harris! 🙂

  21. Dev November 2, 2015

    What I wanna know is…

How many BLACK PEOPLE today are actually interested in picking up a musical instrument and learning the craft of making GENUINE SOUL and RHYTHM AND BLUES MUSIC like the stevie wonders of the past? How many Black people today even care about rock music or are a fan of it in general and the moment they are… Theyre COMPLETELY IGNORED and REJECTED by other Blacks! That’s the real KIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! 😉

  22. truthtea November 2, 2015

OOOOOOOO the hate Adele is getting from all of Beybonic and Failure Swift is REAL!!! Because their faves could never!!!

  23. No favs, just here for the music November 2, 2015

Truly TALENTED artists like her deserves it all. It’s crazy how some people are quick to switch over and called her ‘overrated’ once her success becomes overwhelming.
I’m ecstatic and I hope she continues to break even records as time goes on

  24. Slay_Hive November 2, 2015

If Adele doesn’t change her depressing heart breaking sound by the next album, the GP will move along. Longevity is always more respected than sales.. Look at Vanilla Ice and several others.

      • whenindoubtthetruthwillout November 2, 2015

That’s what I love about Beyonce stans.Whenever they can’t cope with someone else doing better they just come out with excuses!!!

  25. S****** Blonde November 2, 2015

Adele sells music because she is a breath of fresh air among her female counterparts, it’s about timing, she was in the right place, at the right moment, if anything she is lucky, she’s overweight, not exactly a beauty standard among whites or any other ethnic group, so her success is genuine, people were tired of all these girls making the same generic music, dancing half naked on stage, etc…like i said, it’s about timing, she is to this generation what Celion Dion was to the Janet’s and Madonna’s of the 90’s, GET IT, it has nothing to do with her skin tone, i repeat, she is very lucky, in a superficial world like this, she is a proof that people still appreciates talent in its simplest form.

  28. Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Go right on ahead and blame the black general public, because thats more convenient huh?
The difference between blacks and whites is, white people are actually in positions on POWER. They control what and how everything is presented in the media.
Dont blame us for this s***. Mainstream wise R&B and hip hop are dead. Like Nas once said, every mainstream act acts the same ( Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Chief Keef, Tyga) but that’s not an accurate depiction of the entire genre! There are plenty of true R&B talents out there -> ( Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, D angelo, Anthony Hamilton, Mayer Hawthorne, Tank, Avant, Keke Wyatt, ect). Yet, aren’t as played much on the radios or backed up by large labels because the Payola companies wanna repeat the same b******* 15 minutes. So no its not our fault. Same with underrated /underground rappers who share messages and words of wisdom to the youth -> J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Common, Logic, Lupe Fiasco, Joey Badass, ect.) yet are constantly overshadowed.

  29. King Stephy November 2, 2015

The song is underwhelming imo. But her previous album was great and she deverves the success just for the reason @s****** blonde said in his comment above. I just hope the rest of the album is better. Skyfall was another amaing song and achievement.
ps: another proof of how mainstream music has become s*** is that Celine had a voice out of this world, while Adele´s, despite being extremely beautiful, is nothing we haven´t seen before and gets a little bland once you listen to a whole album by her.

  33. Dev November 2, 2015

Until OTHER WHITE ARTISTS begin selling like Adele whilst BLACK ARTISTS sell next to nothing then we can talk, until then…

393847310394848 excuses will be made as to why Black R&B singers don’t sell like Adele when we all know the answer to that.

When was the last time a BLACK R&B singer made a song like Someone like you? Or Set Fire to the Rain? Or Rolling in the Deep? Or Hometown Glory? John Legend made a BEAUTIFUL soul ballad and it SLAYED ww!!!

You’re telling me that ciara or tamar can get millions of YouTube views and less than 40k bought her album!!! KIIII. When do BLACK people ever support soul today the way WHITE PEOPLE support country? 😉 😉 😉

  34. BeyRihLiyah November 2, 2015

  36. Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

“Until OTHER WHITE ARTISTS begin selling like Adele whilst BLACK ARTISTS sell next to nothing then we can talk, until then…”

Black R&B artist are selling pretty much “next to nothing” in comparison, dummy. That’s the issue!

  37. Skyfall November 2, 2015

    @Tyler

To address your first post, youre right that radio etc doesn’t push those artist but you kinda used bad examples because those artist are older so radio won’t use them regardless. Also take into consideration R&B and Sould (real R&B and Soul) is no longer mainstream so in a money POV labels aren’t going to be spending to much pushing music that they believe the GP doesn’t want to hear. It food you support and buy those artist music but a lot of MF who talk about this topic don’t buy s***. Also Adeles music isn’t imp SOUL she has a soul voice but her music is more so Pop Soul or Pop Rock (Think Celine Dion or Mariah Carey during her debut to Music Box Era) so her music has the mainstream appeal and her image is different and that’s why it works and people like her. Sure she has privelledge because she’s white but she’s where she at mostly because her music is good and relatable and the GP just picked up on it remember she was once underrated during the first run of the 19 era.

Also everyone I know (in real life and online) f**** with J.Cole and Kendrick hard so I didn’t get why you used them and underrated, and then you said Cheef Keef, Tyga, Young Thug were mainstream I chuckle the mf are only used when you tryna act ratchet, there’s a difference from being well known and mainstream but I get what you were saying.

    • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

“Sure she has privelledge because she’s white”

Exactly! That statement pretty much sums up my entire argument. I’m not denying that Adele’s talented, but addressing the fact that there are a shitload of other R&B acts that are just as good (Some arguably better). So what sets Adele apart from them aside from her skin tone? Why is it that every time a black person refuses to turn a blind eye to the unfairness, we are automatically accused of pulling the “race card”????

  39. MsYonce November 2, 2015

See what I said the other day people who was stanning now hating. Like stop Adele makes better music than Jill scott, Jazmine etc period. Its not always about race. Y’all want black artist to sell like Adele then get up and support them. Y’all get up and support Taylor, Adele, Sam Smith etc and then wanna b**** about Black artist not selling like byee

    • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Speak for yourself! Because that generalization that you just made about your own people doesn’t apply to me, my “sista.” *Eye Roll*

      • MsYonce November 2, 2015

Maybe not you but its true about a lot of black people. When Hello was release they’re were on twitter hating on Adele saying oh ” Jill Scott or Jasmine is better blah blah ” . However when Jasmine or Jill drop music everyone seems to disappear

  40. K- defender | 재 이현 김 November 2, 2015

You look so god-damn ugly, I don’t know why Jesus cursed your mama to push out such a deformed slimy looking creature. People like you give ALL gay men a bad rep as messy ass queens that can’t afford to turn their c**** inside out. Don’t ever try to play me like that again.

  41. MsYonce November 2, 2015

We have to take fault in Black artist not selling like these white artist cause we don’t support them. Rihanna and Beyonce are the only two black female artists that continue to sell and yet people continue to put them against each other. Beyonce is brand is so so powerful and every time she makes an accomplishments black people can’t seem to stop trying to tear her down. But y’all wanna b**** about white artists taking over.. BYE

  42. Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

Honey, this goes beyond Beyonce and Rihanna. Don’t start.

  43. Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans November 2, 2015

If she doesn’t capitalize off of all of this success while she’s in her prime and put her damn pride and fear aside to do possibly the BIGGEST stadium tour of all time, I’m gonna be pissed with her. Some pop girls WISH they had the global dominance she has. What if she ends up beating Mariah’s #1s record? Uh oh! That would be a dark day in hell.

  44. shakira stan November 2, 2015

    When will Beyonce?

” Also take into consideration R&B and Sould (real R&B and Soul) is no longer mainstream so in a money POV labels aren’t going to be spending to much pushing music that they believe the GP doesn’t want to hear.”
    .
Why is it this way then?? What makes Adele/Sam Smith’s “soul” music better? Is it because ttheir music has a splash of pop or is it because they are automatically considered pop because of their skin color?? Lmao No one would consider Hello pop if a black soulful artist touched it. The GP can very much be interested in REAL R&B hip hop artist. Just look at the billboard charts from the 90’s and early 2000’s. Black artists are just not a priority in todays industry but our musical influences are still very popular in mainstream, you just have to be white to garner appeal. Ex. Nick Jonas, Meghan Trainor, Adele, Sam Smith, these fifth harmony girls, Katy Perry hitting #1 with irban kissed Dark Horse, Miley…hmmmmm weird don’t you think??

    • shakira stan November 2, 2015

Biitch who is the weekend. Hell be a distant memory in mainstream within two years. He had to sell oit to pop in order to even be recognized biitch. Name all the platinum selling black artists we have today. I can only think of three main people bey, Drake and Rih.
        .
All of me was soulful but what did those album sales look like? Where is the media frenzy around his new music? Is he even a household name in pop music? He got lucky with that hit and his next single will be paid dust
        .
Happy was dated pop trash and would not be considered soulful or r&b and he got Lasty i dont really care for the weeknd or pharell. Very poor examples dumb biitch.

    • Skyfall November 2, 2015

Honey Adeles music is not soul and that is me as a stan saying that. She is a pop artist her music is similar to Celine and early Mariah as i also stated. She and Samatha (who’s the GP is pretty much over) sings pop music with soul influence. They are marketed as soul singers but they’re not.

      • Slay_Hive November 2, 2015

Girl bye. Adele’s music is soulful. Blue eyed soul to be exact. Her music can be considered pop but it is not traditional pop music. Especially in 2015. Taylor’s new music is pop. The old mariah, celine snooz3fest sound of the 90’s isn’t popular today. *correction*** Adele is marketed as POP singers but she is not

    • Skyfall November 2, 2015

Nick is a flop, Mehgan trainor is a pop do wop girl, Adele music is Pop Soul/Rock real soul music is different from her she’s just marketed as a soul artist. Sam had success but his hype is dimisning, FH who?, Katy Perry has had multiple hits that was straight out PoP in fact DH was her first urban single and like her others it slayed. Miley tried being a knockoff Rihanna and failed. I agree white artist have an upper hand because of their race already but their music isn’t selling much either however they have more mainstream label support

      • Slay_Hive November 2, 2015

“their music isn’t selling much either however they have more mainstream label support”
        .
Thats the point I was making…They book all the award show stages, top promo spots hot 100 hits etc but Tinashe, sevyn streeter and a lot of upcoming younger black artist are overlooked and unknown.

    • DIABETES UNBOTHERED November 2, 2015

  49. DIABETES UNBOTHERED November 2, 2015

I agree 100% that adeles skin colpr is the biggest contributing factor for why she sales. Same applies to britney mariah & alicia keys. But at the same time usher sold 20 million and he’s dark. Bey sold 10 million 3 times twice with even and they blk. Like was still pretty black during thriller as well. Why bring up acts like chrissete michelle jill scott jasmine and ledisi they are just boring run of the mile soul.acts nothing special. Plus r&b as a GENRE is played out. Only pop r*** country/blues like adele still sells anymore. Ppl need to give up on r&b like gospel including the reoning queen of r&b herself beyonce its played out. Bey needs to do. Another pop album 18 years in the game and she only has 2 pop albums???

    • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans November 2, 2015

She can easily snatch the “Sticky & Sweet Tour” record if she wanted to since people are willing to pay for expensive tickets just to see her. Why isn’t she touring? Shoot, bring the baby if you have to. Kii!

  52. November 2, 2015

  53. Keri Qween November 2, 2015

The song isn’t that great tbh anticipation and hype helped these sales

  54. OMG Logic!!! November 2, 2015

Posts like these really help to show just how truly racist some Black people are. The sad part is that they will never admit it and will defend their racism with the privilege card.

    • Tyler Makiavelli November 2, 2015

      Racist?
What can black people keep white people from? Nothing, so how can we be racist?
What can women keep men from? Nothing, so how can women be sexist?
It runs hand in hand, moron. People need to read books these days, its all factual evidence.

Yeah I ran here when I saw the sales but then realized this post would be another ugly mess so I left.
Congrats to Adele. Not her best song but her vocals sound better than ever, no one else deserves this record more.
Also lmao @ Kworb predicting Focus to sell less than 100K.

  56. thando November 3, 2015

The desperation among Beyonce fans to discredit the genuineness, authenticity and deserved success of Adele is laughable. She’s a singer-songwriter who was from an independent label, 21’s quality absolutely catapulted her into the stratosphere. No s**, just music. Most white artists are commercial successful because they’re white. Some white artists are commercially successful because they are just that: talented. Rare but it happens. Only a fool would believe that Adele is only successful because she’s white. Only a fool would doubt her skill as a songwriter, a creator. Oh and btw, “21” had a MULTIRACIAL audience, people in ALL continents bought the album because it spoke to something each of us could relate to: a s***** break-up.
