As the world faces turmoil in all of its corners Pop’s more socially conscious artists have used their pens to shed light on the issues that have moved them to write.

For M.I.A, the daughter of immigrants who relocated to the United Kingdom to seek a better life for themselves, the ongoing Syrian crisis inspired the number ‘Borders’ which sees her tackle the problematic issue head on with lyrics and a supporting music video that awaits your first look below.

I love how her music always speaks to social injustices. She may not make a red cent doing either but her heart speaks volumes. I love her and what she stands for. F*** a twerk or ratchet ass music.

Still rememberthe born free video and I agree her videos speak more volumes than most hip hop rap videos she actually puts them to shame if I’m honest

I still remember that Grammy’s performance she served while pregnant. “Arular” is still an exceptional album after all these years and when I finally found out the meaning behind “Fire, Fire”, my mind was blown to pieces. She’s an intellect and a creative artist. It also helps that she’s beautiful and genuinely loves black people too.
