Mary Mary‘s Erica Campbell stands tall as one of the leading voices in Gospel music, moving mountains and setting records as one half of the aforementioned act.

Now, after doing the same with her uplifting material, the vocalist has struck up a conversation about an issue many in the Church community still consider to be a taboo topic.

Homosexuality.

Find out what she has to say about it below…

In an interview with ‘Team Curtains’  Campbell was quizzed on her feelings towards the LGBT community in the Church.

Here’s what she had to say about it:

I believe sin is sin and it exists and God forgives it just like everything else.

The Bible says that God so loved the world — it didn’t say the heterosexual or the homosexual; it didn’t say the Christian, the saved or the unsaved. It said for God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whosoever should believe in him, should not perish but have everlasting life. So that’s the only thing I can stay confident in.Keep sharing, keep loving, keep opening the doors of our churches, keep embracing and let God do the changing. I think a lot of times we try to be God. We try to make the change. Everybody has an issue. Maybe yours is lying and we can’t see your issue. We all have something to work on. My job is to love, not to judge.

Her comments come after her fellow Gospel singer Kirk Franklin weighed in on the same issue last week.

Do you agree?

There is no sin in living in your truth, God’s truth. He is Love, He is the Truth and He is the Light. We are not The Creator, and He did not put us in our positions by mistake, neither is homosexuality a test, it is an identity… it is something within one’s self… and although you want to tell me that it has something to do with how we grow up… That would be equally true for “heterosexuals”. Being who you were born to be and finding true happiness, prosperity and sharing a genuine self with the world using your identity and other God given talents is absolutely not a sin!

So when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality and other sins, what did that mean? A person can be a killer and a thief, is that them living in their truth and being who God created them to be? stop contradicting the Bible and really study and research it to get the full truth!

Sodom was destroyed because hospitality NOT homosexuality. Lot would give his virgin daughters away before he let them disrespect his house guest. U do your research!

You’re equating homosexuality with murder and stealing? You’re not very smart are you?

I think its all bs. The Lord can’t have a will that is goes unaccomplished. The world we live in, and all encompassed therein, is what was intended.

The bible is a book written by men so in a time where hatred and power play was the status quo. If God exists don’t let him justify your hate when his only true purpose is to give you comfort.

Being religious must be exhausting. All those mental gymnastics and explanations and having to find a loophole not to hate someone for being different. Sheesh!
