According to a report, an attempt could be made in a mere matter of weeks.

Sources say the long-awaited Rihanna album, ANTI (Roc Nation), will make its debut on Jay Z’s Tidal service on 11/27 and go wide at e-tail and retail the following week (12/4). The latter date will mean her full-scale sales bow coincides with that of Coldplay—and comes two weeks after Adele.
News of the potential roll-out comes after it was revealed that a proposed Samsung premiere (akin to that of Jay Z‘s ‘Magna Carta’) was posing a problem for the chart team at Billboard. The issue? The deal would have allegedly seen the phone giant “buy” a fixed number of ‘ANTI’ albums and pass them onto users as a “free” download.
Per HDD, Billboard would only green-light such scheme if users were presented a download voucher (branded with Rihanna + ANTI) and went on to download the album on their own accord. The issue for Team Rih? That means said users could *technically* use the Rihanna voucher to purchase a….Beyonce album…(for example). Hilarious irony and an obvious no-no for Camp Fenty.
As for this supposed TIDAL arrival, it’s not looking good. We’ve gone to bat for the platform and still see its potential (outside of streaming). But the reality is that it doesn’t have the installed audience to sustain the buzz for more than a day or so after ‘ANTI’s debut. And even if it did, releasing at retail a week later is like feeding Rih to the lions. Because not only would it have given the masses time to chew, dissect, and dispose of the LP, it’s that the day the new Coldplay album arrives. Oh and, of course, there’s Adele.
Until we see otherwise, this remains the muckiest of messes.

I think she is doing this to mask her flop or set up Tidal as the ‘fall guy’ so to speak. If it flops everyone will blame Tidal. But the truth is the signs of a flop were already with or without a Tidal roll out. Rihanna already has soft debuts but add to that the fact that she has no number one to carry the album and the fact that her last top ten is now fairly old and forgotten, Tidal will just be a scapegoat.
Media coverage alone proves that there is much anticipation for the album. There’s no need for a #1. It’s been 3 years and people want a Rihanna album now.
Outside of her stans, people want a typical Rihanna album but based on the singles released so far that is not what she is offering this time. Many will not just blindly buy a Rihanna album. Without the radio hits, many will likely pass.
If 500k people can blindly buy a Drake mixtape, then I’m positive Rihanna can sell an album who’s process has been featured on media blogs daily.

I hate to say it, but I actually agree with TGJ on this article about Rihanna. If the album isn’t up to par, releasing it online for an entire week would give critics and fans a full week to drag her thru the pits of hell and back and hurt retail sales and having a deal with Samsung is good if the voucher for the album only applies to ANTI, but if it’s a general album voucher, people will use to buy let’s say, Adele, Coldplay,1D or Justin’s new albums. I honestly think Rihanna and her team are afraid to release the album at this point. They should’ve released it in April/May,she would’ve easily debuted at #1 in multiple countries and could be on tour by this time.
