Mariah Carey is in fighting form.

After a several years of being consistently inconsistent, the songbird’s voice sounds both refreshed and revitalised. Indeed, many are hailing her pipes as more powerful than they’ve been in years.

Much of this praise stems from her Christmas shows at the Beacon Theatre this week.

Carey journeyed through her catalogue of smashes with more confidence and stronger vocal output than she’s showed in the longest.

Watch her performances of ‘Emotions’ and ‘We Belong Together’ below to see what we mean…

Well, hello Ms. Mimi!

Vocals, for the most part, on fleek! So much so that we’ll put to one side the fact she’s still lipping the climax of ‘We Belong Together.’

With her voice is such solid condition we’re going to need Mimi to hit the studio pronto and cook up that new album.

      VOICE! The last true gr8t.

      • JOHNVIDAL December 19, 2015

        True. She´s the last true great that debuted in mainstream music. Nobody after her debut in 1990 can be considered true great imo. All the others debuted before.

    Mariah sounds incredible and when when and how how did she LOSE all the weight. Over the summer she was thick, now she looks like MIMI again. Congrats.

    She looks beautiful and sounds sultry and her vocals are beautiful.

    Shocked to say the least.

    still made she did nothing with ‘FADED”;

    she sounds and looks like the biggest selling female in history title she so rightly deserves.

    They keep saying she has lost her voice, but from this performance — looks like shes in fine form

    werk mariah

      THIS! The moment I heard ‘Faded’, I fell in love with it instantly! The contemporary production coupled with how young she sounded would have made for a legit Urban smash.

      Yes I am too ! Mariah issue with the last era of IAMTEC was the choice of singles. Had she released Faded or Cry as singles instead of Your Mine (which I felt was We Belong Together 2.0) she could a got a good charting, as #Beautiful proved She still had it. A good song but not single worthy as Faded, Cry, and Make It Look Good. I also get mad knowing they slept on Ribbon and didn’t release Skydiving too :/

    It wasn’t until recently that I realised I’m actually a really big fan of Mariah. I have all her albums and a day doesn’t go by without me listening to her music. She’s never been a strong performer but I felt bad that people were so hell bent on trying to discredit the glorious vocal moments she had in her prime. Anyway, she sounds and looks beautiful. Even though most of her OG fans don’t like ‘Whisperiah’, I love that breathy quality she has to her. no one coos like her.

    while she gets on my damn nerves with the butterflies and playschool baby dresses in the past;

    she sounds really great here and agree joy to the world brings back the old days when it was just music and great voice. Whitney Houston is probably looking down at her proud.

    She needs to do an unplugged…

  13. Patrick December 19, 2015

    This is the Mariah we all know and love. She seems to lose her way every now and again, but she always finds her way back into the limelight. She looks great, and that “Joy” intro had me looking around the house for my wig.

    I saw her on Thursday and she was AMAZINGGGG! She was singing all these big notes and they were live. I was so close to the stage so I could see everything. She’s back! I was so blown away. Given all the bad vocal moments in recent years and all the people doubting her, she had something to prove and Ms. Mariah Carey DELIVERED! Wow.

    I never gave up on Mariah and Whitney, tho they may not sound like their prime they could still sang their face off. They just needed more rest to reserve their voices, and I would suggest doing a show two days within a week Tuesday and Thursday. Mon, Wed and Friday rest and enjoy time with family.

  17. Rudys December 19, 2015

    TGJ are haters on Mimi, she did not lipsync the last part. Listen to the studio version and compare. Love MIMI’s voice.

  18. JOHNVIDAL December 19, 2015

    Wow just what I always say: she or any other true great are still better than 90% of voices and material out there NOW, in 2015 (go figure how unbelievable they were 20 years ago).
    This reminds me of a post someone who worked here (you all know who) did a couple of years ago with Mariah and Celine doing some backstage vocals in their 2013 voice that pretty much slayed any young vocal out there. Despite everything they have gone through as global megastars and the stress and use they ahve inflicted in their voices.
    They are phenomenal.
    Any vocal example from the current generations pales in comparison.

  19. Sandra December 19, 2015

    Whitney is better.
    Mariah was always copying Whitney
