Weeks separate the world from the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, set to air live on CBS on February 15th 2016.
On the night the biggest and brightest stars will align to celebrate the ceremony alongside the committee made up of the music industry’s movers and shakers who will decide which of them are to go home with gongs…and which are to leave the show empty handed.
Of course, the committee’s choices haven’t always been in line with the general public’s, slammed in the past for for “snubbing” releases launched by the likes of Indie Arie (‘Voyage to India‘), Beyonce (‘4‘), Katy Perry‘s hit-kissed and cohesive ‘Teenage Dream’ and the rapper Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Good M.A.A.D City.’

Yes & No. I like the Grammys due to it not being a popularity contest but it is a reflection on the industry so in turn usually the Grammys give awards to there favorites I.E Aretha,Beyoncé and Adele. I wish they would at least have Sub committees for every type of music only including those who have vast knowledge of the music they are voting on…

What they need is a more diverse set of judges from all aspects of music and mostly non bias judges and a better system of how who gets what award is chosen. with a list of criteria having to be met. Honestly like it or not many people argued this but Album of the year is not how many instruments you play or who writes all their own music. It’s exactly as stated “Album of The Year” simply who’s music was the bst and nothing further more than that. Beyonce deserved it because that quality of music she gave on that body of work was authentic and really outside the normal of radio and everything we’re hearing she stays true to roots or R&B and Hip Hop and has never chased trends as far as sonically and her sound, and I’m no stan of anyone i’ve stated I’m a fan of many artists not just one which may be hard for some people to comprehend in this day and age and I believe the Grammy’s needs a better system and mor diverse judges not just for Beyonce but for music in general. Hip hop is the most popular genre of music for the last 20 years and is hardly celebrated and not just hip hop but all genres aren’t getting a fair chance with the way the comitee is set up. More diversity on the comitee and less bias would make the grammy’s more crdible again

Not at all! The unique quality of the Grammys is that it is not based on public popularity but instead on the quality of work judged by industry peers. However, I do think the voting process needs to be revamped. I think a small committee should be put in place to determine the nominees and then all general members can vote for the winners.

I have to say no to the voting system. And here is why the Grammy’s are like the Academy Awards(Oscars) their both the Cremé Dela Cremé of awards show. If there was a voting system it would be a complete and utter mess, fans and stans would go crazy. And it would be pointless to the real artist out there I wholeheartly agree with @Dev they should allow streaming since that’s the new thing in music today, and I agree with @Peacemaker It wouldn’t hurt Beyonce Career if she doesn’t get nominated let others get nominated so they have a chance. I also have to say I agreed with @King Gemini until they said that Beyonce deserved that album of the year Grammy that’s like snatching the Academy Award away from The Godfather and giving it to Basic Instinct it just can’t happen and should never happen. Now to be quite frank the only album from her to produce such quality is her debut was Dangerously in Love to me personally that was her best album to date because it was so different in sound, but back to the topic no they shouldn’t add a fan voting system it’ll just be too much of a headache.
No. The whole idea is a contradiction to what the Grammy’s have historically been about. The problem with today is that every award show wants to pander to popularity. This wasn’t happening 30 years ago. Albums that barely sold were being awarded high honors, solely on the merit of the work — and not its commerce. The idea that Bieber could sweep the Grammy’s is frankly terrifying.
