Toni Braxton Confirms Album Sequel With Babyface

Toni Braxton earned praise aplenty for her recently aired Lifetime biopic, ‘Unbreak My Heart.’

Final ratings are due imminently, but in the court of public opinion – at least – the seven-time Grammy winner scored a unanimous victory.

By no means resting on the laurels of her name, the sultry songstress hit the promotional trail hard in support of the project – which she executive produced. One of her more notable stops was Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning.

Beyond dishing on the movie, Ms. Braxton also spilled on new music.

Details below…

At the 22.20 mark, host Sway asks the singer if fans can expect a follow-up to her and Babyface‘s 2014 Grammy winning collaboration album ‘Love, Marriage & Divorce’ – to which she emphatically replied “yes!”

The first album was exquisite, consistent, and ultimately one of our favourite R&B efforts in recent years. As such, news of a part 2 delights in earnest.

That said, whether before or after the new ‘LMD,’ we yearn to see Toni serve up another ‘Libra’-flavored solo record. Qualitative grown and sexy.

Whatever the case, we’re just glad to have one of R&B’s great icons still at it, triumphing, and adding fresh chapters to an incredible story.

That LIFETIME movie gave me life. That first cd was perfection.

The only thing she didn’t explain was her skin going from Brown Skin to extremely pale. GIRL….stop the skin bleaching.

    • Cassandra chen January 25, 2016

You do realized that lighting have a part to play in pic at times.. Lol use your common sense if she was bleaching her hands would not still be dark…

    • pat January 25, 2016

She was kinda slick. Calling it pimple cream. Everyone knows bleaching causes pregnancy complications n sometimes infertility.

      • Cassandra chen January 26, 2016

Did you watched the movie or read the book the guy that gave her the acne cream said she should not get pregnant while using it, you can find the name in her book and see its fact. A lot of other culture bleach and not a thing wrong with their babies..

I’m not mad at Toni and Face for working on Part 2! I agree with Sam though, I would like another ‘Libra’ album afterwards. Toni would definitely make my top 5 list of most unique voices. I hope she continue making music for a while.

The Lifetime movie was pretty good! The only thing that was a little bothersome was the timeline being rushed (but it was only a 2 hour movie, so that’s understandable). The lipping was so off! The actress playing Toni needed to have a little more passion when it came to the singing, Toni sings with a lot of emotion and is very expressive that way.

    • Cassandra chen January 25, 2016

She is working on a solo album for this year. Babyface has already dropped his solo so it her turn now, that was the plan. We will get a single in a few months she said recently.

I completely agree. Small details with the timeline bothered me, like the fact that in the film they were rehearsing to He Wasn’t Man Enough before she recorded Unbreak My Heart, even tho UMH came out 4 years before it. Plus Toni is very emotive in her facial expressions when she’s singing, and I wasn’t convinced in that the actress was really connecting to the songs.

      • MUSICHEAD January 25, 2016

The reason He Wasn’t Man Enough instrumental was played so much is because she can’t perform You’re Makin Me High since she lost the rights to that song in one of the bankruptcies. In fact, when she does speak of the song, she calls it “Makin Me High” so that she doesn’t have to pay a royalty fee to the person who owns the song now.

    • Dev January 25, 2016

i agree, and they should’ve had the access speak in a lower tone as it was strange talking in a much higher pitch and then singing so low when we know Toni has a lower voice. I think the casting for a adult Tamar was good, but Towanda was clearly a wrong choice

      • AnnaliseKeatingsNewWig January 25, 2016

That bugged me too, Because she didn’t even try to speak in a low tone. I’ve just noticed that Mariah and Toni’s speaking voices sound similar in raspiness. I think in Mariah’s case she specifically speaks low so that she can save her singing voice.

    • Antisatanicthealbum January 25, 2016

I always wonder why please isn’t on Spotify or that whole album

  7. AnnaliseKeatingsNewWig January 25, 2016

I’m so happy Toni didn’t retire. She has too much talent to be slept on. And yas @ that lifetime movie, the actress playing Miss. E played her down to the T!

  8. AnnaliseKeatingsNewWig January 25, 2016

And I’m screaming at everyone Spilling Pebbles tea through these lifetime movies ???

  9. JOHNVIDAL January 25, 2016

His collabo with Mariah in her last tv Xmas special was very nice. It was so nice to see them together for the first time since… when, the 90s?
About Toni: her voice is so unique. Teaming up with him at this stage of their careers was the right decision.

Toni and Baby Face sound amazing together, so i’m looking forward.

  11. Dev January 25, 2016

I’m looking forward to a new Toni album. After the lifetime film i had to go and dig out my Toni cds, look at the covers and play the music

    • Julio January 26, 2016

awww.so sweet! love me some her too like crazy

  12. MUSICHEAD January 25, 2016

I love me some Toni Braxton but after seeing her live in concert last year, I won’t ever do it again. Due to her illness, she doesn’t have the stamina to sing in full voice so instead she talks to the audience most of the show. But I did enjoy the movie and look forward to another album.

    • Cassandra chen January 26, 2016

Toni always talk to her audience and connect with them…she gave some of the best shows, Houston concert last year was awesome the crowd rock all night, the shaderoom also post that show… Artist does change the way they perform certain songs…do medley.. I will forever go to a Toni show she gives 110%. I and just sorry I was not at the shows in south Africa, NZ etc last year, she killed it! You tube is amazing..

  13. Sandra January 25, 2016

No shade but why did they make a biopic about Toni Braxton?

    • Kay for Toni braxton January 25, 2016

Educate yourself abit more about toni, then u will know she deservs the movie, her story even deserves the big screen.

      • Sandra January 25, 2016

        Ok, I’m sorry 🙁

I’m not sure exactly why but this site is loading incredibly slow for me.
Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my
end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
