Usher Announces New Album Title

Last year, Usher raced back to the drawing board when the material released from his new album was proving slow to catch on.

At the time, the singer saved face by claiming he didn’t want to rush. But with several fizzled singles and a tour already in place, it was clear there had been a plan that didn’t play out as intended.

Undeterred, the Urban-Pop hitmaker spent much of 2015 locked in the lab attempting to manufacture a monster eighth album.

Jury’s out on whether he and his team have succeeded with that aim, but it appears the answer will materialize soon – because the project finally has a name.

Details below…

Per this studio clip, Ush confirms that the LP – once titled ‘UR’ – has been renamed ‘Flawed’:

The best way to predict the future is to create it. @howuseeit

In a way, the name is somewhat inconsequential – in that (especially in Usher’s case) it’ll be the music that matters most.

That said, it is interesting to have more insight into the angle he’ll marketing the album from, which at this junction seems to be the “humble /I’m human and make mistakes” m-o.

There is a small part of us that would have preferred he go the braggadocious route and name the LP ‘Floored’ – as in “this fire will leave you…floored.” But we imagine the current name is an altogether “safer” play.

For his sake though, with a title like that the music needs to slay. Because, in the event it doesn’t, it’ll make those pesky reviews oh so easy to pen.

Fingers crossed that he delivers.

We’re excited…cautiously.

    Yay! I am elated!
This seems like it’ll be a “Confession” part 2 album. Hopefully. But yes, he better be all over with this and have the songs to back it up with that title.

THE GAYS ALWAYS STAN FOR CIARA, RIRI AND BEYONCE.

WHO CARESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. SHUT UP AND GET A LIFE AND GO TO THE GYM SO YOU CAN GET A MAN AND STOP BEING PUNKS AND LOSERS – THESE DIVA’S PAY YOU FILTH.

USHER, WILL BRING THAT FIRE. HE’S ACTUALLY TALENTED VOCALLY — UNLIKE CHRIS BROWN WHOSE CD CAME AND FLOPPED AND WENT.

  5. RASHAD January 14, 2016

Come through Usher! I was sooooo disappointed how he let “Good Kisser & Don’t Mind” go to waste only for him to not release an album. Usher is a R&B King but he better come with that fire because his last album was his worst to date!

  6. Kitty Puurrzz January 14, 2016

Usher is sposed to be on Beyonce’s level by now. Him & Bey were sposed to be the King & Queen of current R&B YET he can’t keep up content wise or performance wise. I hope this next album SLAYS cause I like him.

    • 2bad2bme January 14, 2016

right…he chose to go the EDM route (being a follower) and it actually set him back, instead of being a trend setter like he always was!

    • King Mark111 /.\ January 14, 2016

Usher has a diamond album and sold more, US and WW. Stop.

      • DTG January 14, 2016

So what? Usher’s commercial drop right after that ‘diamond album’ has been near catastrophic. Too bad he wasn’t able to use it as leverage for continued decent sales going forward. Now he’s lucky to go Gold. Meanwhile, Rihanna still can’t even go double platinum — oh, except for that one time, almost 10 years ago.

    • Noah January 15, 2016

U guys are clueless. Bey does NOT have other black female entertainers. Usher has way more competitors ever since he came out, making him seem outdated. Ofcourse hes going to do adapt to Derulos Pop. He does BOTH R&B and Pop regardless. No female offers what Bey does, who is going to be desperate for Usher tickets when theres “modern” versions of him. He is nominated against ppl he inspired like CB and created like JB. Still has more albums sold, and #1 hits. Diff is relevance, and its harder for him.

  7. Terny January 14, 2016

He’s still trying? Smh.. Hastag “flawp”!! Ain’t nobody checking 4 this sellout!

    • UR January 14, 2016

I’m checking for him. To be honest, I’ve never stopped checking for him. Awesome vocalist. Awesome performer. Wouldn’t call him a sellout. If anything, I’d call him a ‘survivor’.

    • Noah January 15, 2016

Says…a Mariah Carey fan. Where she now? He vocals are long gone. LoL.

  8. Barb-wire January 14, 2016

He might have fell off in recent years but I still love and respect Ush! The only thing he needs to do is release some quality material and promote like he never has before, he’ll be fine. He better come through tho, I don’t want to hear that sorry excuse for a singer Justin Fraudlake this time around.

  9. Chile. January 14, 2016

    FLAWED.

  10. Christina Aguilera January 14, 2016

I think i need some Chaka Khan music

    • Kitty Puurrzz January 14, 2016

No. WE need some new Xtina tunes.

It been a while since Usher gave us a personal album, since Here I Stand. Funny, because from My Way, 8701, Confessions and Here I Stand, his albums always been about what he was going through at that time. From being a t*** with dating issues, to becoming an adult, to having issuse in a ralationship to being married and being a man. I think RvR was supposed to be the story of failing that, but EDM became a thing and yea. Looking 4 Myself was trying to break away and do something different. We allow Chris,Justing (both of them), Rihanna and Beyonce use different sounds, but we wouldn’t let Usher (although I liked the album).
    .
Got carried away there. Anyway, I can tell by his post, the few songs he released, him being re married and raising two young men, Usher is in a different place. And I want to hear THAT on this album. I want to hear the good, bad, happy, sad and the ugly. I dunno, maybe we’ll get an Usher What’s Going On.

    • LB January 14, 2016

      ^^^THIS

    • Noah January 15, 2016

We lost the personal touch with him, because ppl behaved like dip-shitts about his marriage. When Here I stand flopped, that was it. He tried a little with “Papers”, but he was gone for so long R&B became weak.

  12. Will January 14, 2016

    It’s Flawed!!! Lol

  13. LB January 14, 2016

    YASSSSSS CANNOT WAIT

  14. Rebecca S for Queen Bey, Princess Rih, & R&B Legend Monica January 14, 2016

I’m looking forward, I love Usher.

  15. Liam January 14, 2016

I can’t wait….all his albums were good as a concept of their own….I know it will good regardless

  16. RihYonce January 14, 2016

Yes king !!! I hope he really brings it with the music , UR sounded like it was going to be a dated R&B album I hope this album is more current & that he promotes the album & show these R&B dudes who’s still running things

  17. DIABETES UNBOTHERED January 14, 2016

Confessions is easily the most successful album released by a black artist in atleast the past 15 years. Instant classic… he will never beat it no matter what he named it SORRY FLOORED HUMAN APOLOGIES FLAWED LOL. He cant get any worse than ANTI which should have been titled HIER (code for HIGHER)

  18. DIABETES UNBOTHERED January 14, 2016

Or HIER to the thrown since theres a crown on the cover. What a sloppy ass album rollout… what Usher did with this album is nowhere near as bad as Rihs anti rollout the 8th eoom probably doesnt even exist LMFAO! HEY FAGMARK!

  19. Linear January 14, 2016

Usher sold out to EDM/pop. He threw his core audience under a bus in a wasted attempt to pander to the Katy Perry crowd. Once upon a time I wouldn’t have imagined Usher putting out suburban shopping mall music like “OMG,” “DJ,” “Scream,” “With You.” Those songs embarrass his catalog. Post-Confessions proved how fake he is. He doesn’t even have sound or style that is distinctively HIM. Every song he puts out is 100% the style of whoever produced it. He can keep ‘Floored.’

    • Noah January 15, 2016

This is largley ignorant. Ever heard of “Here I Stand” ?? His R&B further soldified vocally but his fans threw him under the bus because of his maturity. They wanted him to be like Chris Brown forever. When a masterpeive like “Moving Mountains” peaks at #65, an album selling 1.5M, hes left with no option. And furtheremore he does R&B MORE than Pop. “There Goes My Baby” and “Climax” Grammy winning #1’s for best Vocal performance. His most succesful music paints his overall image, and that the very “few” Pop songs he did. They are charting higher than his R&B which is what u notice more about him. Ur clueless about his R&B efforts and that’s because its not blowing up. He is balancing his originality against external demands. Go watch “Dive” and come back.

  20. MUSICHEAD January 14, 2016

Sam that “floored” statement was kinda lame but we’ll forgive u if u don’t do it again lol. As for Usher, he almost always delivers so I’m looking forward to his new release.

  21. Kitteneyez January 14, 2016

King Usher I am ready #legend

  22. Noah January 15, 2016

Notice how both of the first two singles with music videos released were R&B Quality. No Pop sounds so far….and what happens? They don’t even crack the top 50 on Billboard. Even including someone relevant like Nicki Minaj didn’t help. Peaking at #65 and #89 is what forces Usher to adapt, despite resurrecting classic elements with Pharrel.

Then he releases “I Don’t Mind” which sounds like the generic R&B that Jeremih would epitomise and succeeds ofcourse.

Usher’s demographic are confused. The entertainment Usher brings never clicks like in “Good Kisser”, because i think its too mature for this era. Something his elderly fans appreciate, but dissappoints hid modern ones. There is the Bey and Bruno Mars quality entertainment and theres the Breezy and Derulo turn-up entertainment. Where does Usher stand? Fact is he mixes both, but is still under valued.
