New Orleans is set to welcome a host of Urban music’s biggest names this summer when the 2016 Essence Festival pulls into town.
The extravaganza, which seems to grow bigger and better each year, promises to continue that trajectory thanks to a number of artists you’re sure to be familiar with.

Per the event’s official website, Ciara, Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey, and Maxwell are just a few of the major names set to grace the main stage at the festival – which takes place June 30th – July 3rd.
Other names on the impressive bill include Babyface, Tyrese, V. Bozeman, Jidenna, Daley, Faith Evans, Dej Loaf, Estelle, LION BABE, and the UK’s Lady Leshurr.

As for the “TGJ girls,” it’s both surprising and refreshing to see Mimi actually hitting the live circuit. Indeed, beyond Vegas, she’s trekking Europe on the ‘Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour’ next month and now this. Collect those coins, ay!
Similar kudos to Ciara. With murmurs of change in her camp and confirmation of a new album, it’s awesome to see that she’ll be keeping her name and face in the mix in the meanwhile.

The Essence-fest stage is huge a opportunity and shows that Ciara still has some pull after all these years so I’m happy for her. Maxwell and Mariah are probably my two favorite male and female vocalists to emerge from the 90s but it does sadden me though that their voices have gone through quite a bit in recent years. Mimi has shown improvement here and there but I can’t help but think Max’s vocal issues are the reason he’s delayed the sequel to BLACKsummers’night for almost six years. Good luck all.
