As proven by his stirring rendition of the U.S. national anthem tonight, if there’s anybody who has the ability to make anything sound like a love song, it’s singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.

The Grammy winning hitmaker took to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada tonight in front of a star-studded audience to lend his take on the historic number.  Sending the crowd (and viewers at home from the looks of Twitter) into a much deserved eruption, tuck in below to see if you feel the same after hearing the crooner’s twist on ‘The Star Spangled Banner’:

Good for him! He’s an outstanding vocalist and he deserves all the shine he can get. “Religious” is a constant play on my playlist.

    That was very very good.
I mean true greats (Whitney, Celine and more) are something else for this type of songs, but he did excellent for his type of vocal cords.

He slayed and I love the way he arranged it! It did have a romantic feel to it, lol. Part of why I think Ne-Yo excelled in this performance is his strong belting ability. One of the best male renditions in YEARS.
