American Idol’s La’Porsha Renae Signs With Motown

Published: Saturday 9th Apr 2016 by Sam

As talent show history has shown, sometimes it’s better not to win.

And for American Idol‘s last-ever runner-up La’Porsha Renae, the post-show wins have already begun accruing.

Full story below…

The soulful belter, who was bested by winner Trent Harmon, has inked a lucrative deal with Motown Records.

Confirmation came courtesy of Scott Borchetta, President of Big Machine Records.

Per the Borchetta, whose label boasts the likes of Taylor Swift, Renae is jointly signed to both imprints.

He said of signing both winner and runner-up simultaneously:

“Because of the overwhelming fan demand and success of the farewell season of American Idol, we have made the decision to sign both the winner, Trent Harmon, and runner-up, La’Porsha Renae, to exclusive recording agreements. I can’t think of a better way to bring this American institution to a close. Everyone at the Big Machine Label Group, the Universal Music Group and Motown Records are so thrilled with the outcome and can’t wait to get to work.”

Renae’s album will be overseen by Ethiopia Habtemariam, president of Motown and president of urban music/co-head of creative at Universal Music Publishing Group. She said of the deal “we are extremely excited to partner with Big Machine and 19 Entertainment on such an incredible talent as La’Porsha.”

It’s great to see such enthusiasm from all corners to ensure the last names to emerge from the Idol brand make a mark.

Fingers crossed the music, which will be the main determiner, delivers.

    From this bish’s own mouth:

“I am one of the people who don’t really agree with that (gay) lifestyle. I wasn’t brought up that way. It wasn’t how I was raised.”

Phuck her! May nothing but flopness be upon her

    • WhatchuMadFa April 10, 2016

Sooooo you are mad because she was raised not to accept gay people?! That’s HER choice! Not everyone is going to accept gay people. Get over it and wake up!!!!!

        U are such a dumb a$$ broad.
The majority of people are brought up not to live that lifestyle, hence why these niccas and bishes in the closet and sh!t. Not agreeing with that lifestyle is ignorant. The bish is an adult who can make up her own mind, or does her mama still need to tell her how to think.
Bish, when you have your master’s degree in check, come talk to an educated brother. Until then, you’ve been DISMISSED, ho.

  2. ???Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??? April 9, 2016

Motown? No, no, no, no, no!! You won’t even have a chance. You’ll flop hard before arrival. Find another label, love!

  4. #JACKIE April 9, 2016

She was bound to flop regardless of the label she signed to.

    • Aml April 9, 2016

      Just like Ciara

      • #JACKIE April 9, 2016

This fat ugly whale could never sit at the table with Ci. She will flop worse than Candice Glover and Jessica Sanchez combined.

    Motown, really?
I’m sorry but whoever she is, she just ended her musical career by signing with them.

The fact that they have Mila J on there and failed to market “Smoke, Drink and BreakUp” and “My Main” shows that they’re a terrible label now. They cant break talent!

  6. Yeee April 9, 2016

Motown is like a small part of Universal Music Group…. Which is owned by NBC so she’s good as long as they all consecutively throw promo down each marketing channel

  7. Tran anti bloper honey love but it okay girl April 9, 2016

She used to be in a group with beyonce carter and Kelly rowland and letoya luckett called girls tyme back in the 90’s early. Good for her by being signed to a record label

I think La’porsha will be one of the great artist you ever signed with the Motown label. She’s and extraordinarily talentive young artist that move your fan whenever she open her mouth, to do what she love doing. So proud of and her accomplishements. I look forward to buying her music. Love
