Billboard Hot 100: Iggy Azalea’s ‘Team’ Tanks

iggy-azalea-team-that-grape-juice-2016-10101010

Its big budget video and insanely infectious hook makes Iggy Azalea‘s ‘Team’ one of 2016’s more exciting new releases.

Alas, that’s done little to stop the single from slipping and sliding its way out of the Billboard Hot 100.

Full story below…

Azalea’s new set ‘Digital Distortion’ is expected to find its way to retailers this summer, and fans had hoped ‘Team’ would rock and roll on the Billboard Hot 100 to support its commercial journey.

Unfortunately, it seems those hopes have been shattered after the cut slipped 29 places on the Billboard Hot 100 less than a fortnight after its release.

Its current position?

#71.

Marking her first single to be launched without a featured act since the release of her debut album ‘The New Classic‘, ‘Team’ followed the release of the buzz cut ‘A Zillion’, and much to the surprise of its supporters, is faring so poorly in the U.S. that not even the streaming figures its visual has garnered are enough to guarantee it won’t slip out of the tally in the weeks following this one.

Great news! I’m tired of these culture vampires trying to bank off the urban community! Wendy Williams called it last year and said Iggy will not last and it starting to happen now, the suburban kids are over you and your novelty of being a forgien white girl white black women’s body and fake accent has worn off! Stop appropriating black culture and go back to Austrailia!

Preach! Everyone loved Gwen and Fergie because they were authentic. Same goes for Pink. We know when it’s not real and the public has spoken.

not every single single released is going to be a huge hit or if it’s a specific Genre say Country is it going to be released to pop/adult contemporary airplay for example Faith Hill & Tim McGraw’s 1998 duet Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me peaked at #3 on what is now the Hot Country Songs Chart but was never released to top 40 or AC Radio though some AC stations/hosts played it anyway

No no. Don’t ever compare anything by Faith Hill to Iggy again. Iggy has the benefit of being cross promoted on radio and booking several televised performance spots. People see her content and don’t want to buy it. Simple as that

    .

    ONE HIT WONDER.

    .

She’s lucky that she saw such success with “Fancy” (thanks to Gwent Stefani’s little sister: Charli XCX) but her fame was never meant to go beyond that. Perhaps she can another hit as an Ariana Grade feature or if she clings to Rihanna, Katy Perry or Taylor Swift. Sorry… 🙁

Not to kick her after she pulled herself down but who is shocked by this. She thought she had it made and forgot it was the urban blogs like TGJ who put her on in 2012. Once you lose them you lose its hard to keep your flops under wraps and retain the perception that you’re slaying. Look at Ciara. Most people think she’s doing moderately well because of the optimistic way she is reported on here. Urban girls need urban blogs even if those Urban girls are white and think white privilege will carry their careers.

How do you expect her to make people care about a song which flopped AFTER its video came out and AFTER its been sent to radio. There’s s difference between a song which rises slowly because that indicates slow but promising growth. This isn’t the case with Iggy so she needs to move on to the next single.

Black people have no problem with people who want a piece of the culture. What we don’t like is when people don’t care enough about the culture. Black people love Jojo. We love Justin Timberlake. But iggy is trash.

Iggy is now exposed. Once everyone found out she was faking the funk her star power dimmed. You can’t steal from a culture, bash ethnic community’s with racist comments, fake an accent and expect not to get caugh up. People gravitate towards authenticity and Iggy is a product, not an artist. Sure Fancy was dope and she had “hits” but let’s be real, she has a “Team” of writers and a whole camp of other people that put her together. Furthermore the best part about fancy was the hook and it wasn’t even her singing it. We are in a new musical era where the people want real artists and if you’re faking it you will be called out. We want to be entertained not lied to. I was a fan of iggy when she was underground, before Fancy. Once I found out this “urban white girl” was an Australian Becky basically acting, she lost me. Nicki don’t even need to sabotage her she’s doing that all by herself.
