lovers we are – especially of hits past.
So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.
Now, let’s blast back to this week in 2003. There, you’ll not only find 20 of the top 25 were Urban-kissed, but you’ll also find ‘I Miss You’ – the posthumously released single by late R&B songstress Aaliyah. Reaching its Hot 100 peak this week that year, the song – among those originally recorded for but left off of her self-titled third LP – was remastered and selected to kick off her 2002-released compilation/greatest hits package ‘I Care 4 U.’
Its heartfelt accompanying music video, featuring appearances from Jay Z, DMX, Missy Elliott, Toni Braxton, and many many more, helped propel it to #3 on the Hot 100 (where it peaked). It was her third and last single to peak within the chart’s top 5.

First off, Bey was giving BODY in this performance! She always had a penchant for being able to take on a Hip-Hop song like very few in R&B can. R. Kelly and Chris Brown are pretty good too (someone like Usher is better when he keeps it sweet). I mean, DC helped make rap-singing a thing with ‘No, No , No’. This is why I didn’t really sweat it when Bow Down, Drunk In Love and 7/11 (I still hate this one, lol) came out because the swagger has always been there but it’s just that the sound changed.

I agree. Rih. is the current “Black” (male or female) chart force and has been since 2010. She is the sole leader of the digital and streaming force and we should be uplifting her accomplishments. Beyonce’ is the current ruler of the touring world (yes, her tour stats. are higher than Rih’s) and she has more double-platinum album’s than Rih. also. I’m not a fan of Beyonce’ to be honest but the woman is holding it down just like Rih. is.

Been listening to this and other Aaliyah music all this week. The Aaliyah album is one of my absolute favorite r&b albums. There is a huge amount of art and creativity that went into this project and it’s evident in everything including the writing, the instrumentation…I just love it.
Aaliyah always had a great and good music on her album and her last album is great
