Mariah Carey is hitting the promotional pavement in support her new E! docu-series ‘Mariah’s World’ – which debuts later this summer.
This evening saw her stop by Bravo‘s Watch What Happens Live to plug the series.
As ever, host Andy Cohen didn’t hold back. Remarking that he witnessed Jennifer Lopez visibly excited by the show’s trailer, he used that as a segue-way to question Mimi about her incessant claims of “not knowing” Lopez.

If anyone with common sense watched the old video she was asked about Beyone, to which she spoked about Beys personality (sweet,nice, and talented) sharing this indicates she Knows Bey on a personal level instead of knowing her as an artist, and when they brought up JLO she couldn’t say anything because she doesn’t know her personally to say whether shes nice or whatever. Like it wasn’t hard to comprehend that in the first place if they went by her speaking of Bey first. Smh call it shade, s*** I cal it keeping it real I don’t know from a can of paint.

After reading the description in the post, I expected more drama and unnecessary shade from Mariah. I really was prepared to think why won’t this woman grow up, JLO’s not even stressing her! I must say Mariah explained herself very well. I get it now! I’ve never been quick to call anyone I met briefly (and had surface conversation with), my friend or acquaintance. If you look at the original clip of “I don’t know her’, you’ll see Mariah switching from one topic to the next (from Beyonce to JLO) and it appears to be questioning along the lines Mariah is speaking of. I guess media can be blamed for provoking a girl fight (it was common knowledge at that time that there was tension between Mariah and JLO early on in Jenny’s career).

anyone that thinks with logic knew that Mariah and JLo never had a conversation but met in passing. Even JLo on this very show said “they never really met”. There is no beef, she just doesn’t know her personally, period.

I saw this myself and I did not detect shade, but when Jlo said she must be forgetful or something that was not shade get real it was shade at its finest but the media swept under the rug. I got a better since of I don’t know her from Mariah’s response last night if anything they met said hello at one point or another but do not know each other personally.

I think the sole reason 13 years later this is still regarded as hollywoods most ULTIMATE shade is the fact that even if mimi didnt know Jlo personally (clearly she didnt if they never crossed paths aside from a casually forgetable hi or hello bye). . . Mariah STILL had every oppurtunity to say something nice about Jlo asn ARTIST. Yet she didnt take it lol. A clear sign that mimi doesnt regard jlo as talented which is what she complimented Bey on being talented & a great song writer/composer which bey was very involved in crafting DIL & Survivor (back when bey used to actually write songs as a lead writer) something mariah does well. Its still blatent shade then and now even if mariah doesnt want to admit it.
I like both Mairah and J.Lo; the former for her legendary vocals and catalog while I”ve always been into the latter’s fashion, electrifying performances and a few movies. Mimi explained this perfectly because over the years people have ran her “I don’t her” to the the pinnacle of Pop Diva shade. However, I died when Mariah made mention of she herself being “Apparently forgetful”. That was a mess because she claerly wants everyone to know she was made aware of J.Lo’s comments a few months back on Wendy. Mariah didn’t mean it literally – OF COURSE she knows who Jennifer Lopez is! They were on the same label, sort of run in the same circles and the whole Tommy Mottolla/Firecracker sample controversy has been well documented. Simply put, she only knows Jenny on a surface level and at this point, probably doesn’t want to go any further than that. I
And this is why she has been reduced to a reality show D Lister now.
