Fantasia has never played by the rules and isn’t about to start doing so now.

The soul-filled songbird has hatched new single ‘Sleeping With The One I Love’ – the launch release from her fifth studio album ‘The Definition Of…’ [due July 29th].

Boasting lines such as “the one I love is good to me…but he just ain’t good enough,” this racy number is sure to set tongues wagging.

Listen below…

Yes, yes, and yes!

The rich, creamy production paired with the daringly dangerous lyrics makes this a compelling listen – and easily the best we’ve heard from the LP thus far.

Some may raise eyebrows at the subject matter, but we feel it refreshing in that it’s not the “same ole” love song every R&B act seems keen on re-singing. Critics should also remember that not every track is or need be autobiographical. In the songbook of time, some of the best additions have been cuts that take the listener into a world far removed from their own. Something ‘Sleeping’ manages to do in stellar fashion.

“Sleeping With The One I Love” I automatically thought of her sleeping with that man who was with somebody else….. but ok hit me with the SLAYAGE FANTASIA!!

No the song is fine. R. Kelly did it again. He crafted another powerful musical gem. I love it because it has a James Browns feel .

      the Brandy influence is real.

      • Josh May 27, 2016

Brandy? I get more of a James Brown feel. I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Fantasia even named James Brown as an inspiration for her new album.

  12. #JACKIE May 26, 2016

This song is nothing like Begging and Pleading. I get more of a James Brown vibe. Fantasia even said she was musically channeling James Brown on this song.

Heard this song three days ago and it awesome

  21. Casual May 28, 2016

I was hoping this song wouldn’t get single treatment. It’s a good track, but it’s not going to be a hit. It will do okay at Adult Urban Radio, but it will have limited success at hip hop oriented stations, and it has no crossover appeal. And FWIW, Aretha Franklin would have killed this in the late 60s.

  22. Brotha1461 May 28, 2016

Anytime s song does not work for the people that follow her, she does it live and kills it.

  23. Sheena May 28, 2016

listening to this song makes me realize that R&B needs FANTASIA!!! and every other song that’s out on radio sounds like bullcrap compared to this, RADIO\MAINSTREAM NEVER APPRECIATES ARTIST LIKE FANTASIA OR JAZMINE SULLIVAN, oh how the world is missing out
