Over a month after making a splash with fans with his long awaited comeback single ‘Lake By the Ocean, Maxwell has premiered its steamy accompanying music video.
Tapping director Phillip Andelman to helm, the cinematic visual – the first from Max’s highly anticipated new album blackSUMMERS’night (July 1), only adds to excitement about the singer’s SUMMERS’ tour that kicks off June 18th.
The trek will include a headlining bill at the 2016 Essence Festival. But, before you head down to New Orleans to catch the Grammy winner in action, tuck in below for his must see new video. We’ll let you know now: it was worth the wait…

Maxwell’s always had nice videos and he looks good. Aside from a few rough patches in the beginning and at the end of the performance, he sounded just like the record. I remember when he had to undergo surgery for vocal haemorrhaging a few years back. His voice is not as warm and dexterous as it was in the 90s/early 2000s but it’s still beautiful nonetheless.
