I know a lot of people hate streaming points but i think Billboards point is to show OVERALL interest and if people are listening or streaming your material there is interest in the product regardless if people actually buy it or not. Streaming is the future and the present so I dont think its hocus locus to count streams into it the ONLY people who should be worried about LITERAL sells are record labels because they invest the millions of dollars, but these days people want the bang for their buck so if i can listen to all the music i want for 10.99 , i Don’t care who gets the money as long as i get the music. Thats The new age.

If “pure sales” is what you want to remain to in order to determine the success of how well an album is performing in 2016 when Streaming is now the top earning music source over digital retailers & physical retailers then that’s what you choose to do – Billboard and the RIAA have gotten with the times. With that being said, Streaming revenue will continue to grow over the years until both the digital retail & physical albums are pretty much dwindled down to nothing. Sales plus steaming (SPS) has become the clearest way to look at what’s hot and what’s not, and if you don’t know how to analyze these numbers, you will be at a loss to understand music’s place in pop culture today and that’s all there is too it.

There’s nothing confusing about why he’s #1. Music physical sales alone aren’t the hottest, so accounting for streaming helps put in to account the true supply and demand for singles and albums. If you want to take out streaming, Paul Simon would be #1 not Beyoncé. He is outselling her this week in physical sales.
Beyoncé is doing very well, but stop acting like she’s disadvantaged when she isn’t always #1. Things are still working in her favor just not as much as Drake. Look at the physical sales for Drake and Beyoncé just a month in from their album releases and they are currently some of the biggest artists on the charts this year. The physical sales are horrible, so it’s definitely appropriate that Billboard started accounting for streaming. It’s 2016 and this is most fair to artists as streaming is the way most people listen to music and helps people know what people are listening to the most.
Rihanna flopped har this go round. Work has been nothing but a fake hit single. Real sales wise it has been a big flop. She couldn´t even release her album last year to begin with and she had to resort to recording crap material once again. She has absolutely never sold big, but this time she has just flopped.
