Justin Timberlake has apologised for unintentionally disregarding the experiences of African-Americans by way of a tweet he published during last night’s BET Awards.

His misstep and swift apology below…

black-lives-matter

During Jesse Williams‘ speech at the ceremony he took the time to explain the importance of the ‘Black Lives Matter‘ in today’s social and political climate.

Timberlake was watching from home when the following exchanged occurred.

His response to the tweet above saw him accused of refusing to acknowledge his supposed appropriation of Black music and the moves he made (or didn’t make) during what many believe was a racially-fuelled media assault on Janet Jackson following their breast-baring SuperBowl performance.

He went on to explain:

I don’t like JT and never did, but he has a point.
People can be so petty and bitter af.

    • LISA LEVINE June 27, 2016

Justin timberFAKE can make as many soulful selections as he wants and invite Beyonce and Future on his songs. The fact remains he Helped Destroy Janet jackson’s career by being a total PUNK and leaving her to die in public. he gets too much credit in the black community because he’s “cute and a wigger”. Lets be honest. You put his little squeaky voice on the same stage with Tank, Tyrese, Maxwell, they would eat him alive.

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ June 27, 2016

No lies there. I don’t like him or Janet but he has to take responsibility fo his part in nipplegate

    • Fancy BISH June 27, 2016

Justine Timberfake ain’t even cute no more…he CRACKING chile lol

      • Caleb June 27, 2016

        He never was cute.

This is why you don’t respond to stupid fans!

  3. The Kpop Guy, Matt~ June 27, 2016

I also wanted to know which black Lives matter? Only citizens of the US? What about the millions of blacks in africa? Many blacks only want to be called African American but think nothing of the OG blacks across the Atlantic sea

    • Black June 27, 2016

The sad part about you is that you don’t see that your favourite KPop Stars will never slay in the US because of the same system that persecutes black stars. Ask yourself why Scooter is struggling with CL even though she’s basically a KPop icon who is so well known that even TGJ covers her occasionally. Ask yourself.

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ June 27, 2016

I completely agree with your points, however, the reason CL hasn’t released music in the US yet (besides the free buzz singles Helló bítches and Doctor Pepper) is because her Label YG KNOWN to be messy af. Her group 2ne1 made it to number 50 on the bb200 album chart when CRUSH was released. Also her group 2NE1 lost their 4th member who was dead weight just like how DC4 became DC3. So there’s that and YG is pushing his new Groups IKON. 2NE1 also performed at a sold out Madison Square Garden. I’m not bothered if CL or any of my kpops don’t break America when they are selling HUGE amounts on an international scale. My kpops are about to take over DC and TLC in biggest girl groups ever

As an Asian person do you even know what happened to the Filipino men who moved to LA in the 40s? Or how Hollywood openly mocks Asian people and uses stereotypes to reinforce emasculating ideas about its men. Or that the same people you say are doing too much fight for the right for Asian women to exist in a world where they are looked at as more than subservient and docile maids, nannies and prostitutes. Do you even know where the quote “love you long time” comes from? If you did you’d understand why people get so angry.

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ June 27, 2016

I know my “asian persecution” history, and the slight problem I see with your statement is that you like many others can’t help but put EVERY “asian” into one category. I’m south Korean so I do know what happened to ‘my people’ and how Hollywood says “your story is cool but we don’t want your people playing in its roles”.
In Hollywood, there’s this unwritten law where there can only be one Asian performer who isn’t a stereotype. That was Lucy Lu at one point. I see the issue of Hollywood white washing ASIAN roles but I personally don’t care when I know we have our own market (as south koreans) where we Excell in, own version of grammys, MTV awards ect. Hell, last year, a KPOP group BTS won best international act at the EMA’s. The Hispanics also do the same thing. They know they have their own personal lane in entertainment.

Minzy wasn’t dead weight Dara is the one who can’t sing nor dance

    • KenyaInFormation June 27, 2016

Bicth I’m from Africa and I in no way want to represented in the #Blacklivesmatter movement because i do not experience the same s*** african americans do. It’s never a competition in suffering!!!!!!

    • Caleb June 27, 2016

Da fuq? Who said Black lives don’t matter overseas? There are many BLM organizers who do speak on the plight of those suffering under the weight of imperialism all across the globe.

  4. Kate Marc June 27, 2016

    Who cares anyway

  5. Coolness June 27, 2016

When I saw his first tweet pop up on my timeline, I literally said, “You in danger, gurl.” in my best Whoopi Golberg voice, lol. I think this his initial tweet was harmless but he shouldn’t have dignified that user with a response – especially with one that had undertones of the ‘All Lives Matter’ notion. Anyway, I think this was definitely a wake up call for him because even though he has built a solid rapport with the urban music listening audience, I’m sure he never expected to feel the wrath of Black Twitter. I just hope that Jesse’s incredibly poignant speech won’t be overshadowed by JT’s Twitter spat.

    • MusicLife June 27, 2016

      I agree with you 100%

  6. Truth(honey Adel is a has been like nicki) June 27, 2016

    Bigot

  7. MusicLife June 27, 2016

Why didn’t he just say, Jesse I feel you. We as humans need to value everyone’s lives. Let’s all stand together as one. That would have been ok to me. But yeah it seemed a bit some type of way the way he dresses down the fan.

  8. KenyaInFormation June 27, 2016

The white girls are so quick to pull the ‘we are all human’ mess. I’ve never understoods why he gets so much love from the african americans. Gassing him up with he’s got a black soul. LoL. You all are a mess.

  9. Weezy Tha Goat/ Zayn is ? June 27, 2016

    Bye!!! He’s still a fake ass b****.

  10. Stephy June 27, 2016

Future | S** | Love | Sounds is the only thing I use from this man. I really want another masterpiece like that from him (or any male pop act at this point).
    .
Anyways, I think whites needs to just stfu about black issues. Especially, white celebrities. It mostly if not always ends very bad. I don’t think Timberlake is a racist nor do I think he has malicious intentions. I do believe he does what he has to do to protect his-self & family, regardless if you’re black or white (I mean look at how he straight carried Britney Spears and she’s white). He’ll never take responsibility in his part of the Super Tit thingy. But, honestly Mama Janet should’ve never agreed to do such a stunt to begin with. Both (JJ & JT) should be held responsible for that “niplegate” thingy, period.
    .
PS: I feel so bad for humanity. Like is it just me, or does it seem like this never ending negativity & sadness feeling is truly ruling the world right now. The BET awards was good. But, something in my spirit felt cold. I wasn’t really inspired, at all. And, that goes for the whole music industry, period. Something is going around in the air that has a nasty vibe, especially in America. It’s a shame we’re still dealing with brainwashing satanic mentally retarded issues, all started by our ancestors. The root of this country is built on slavery & a very wicked government. The damaged has been done, and I’m afraid it’s permanent. There’s so many mentally & physically sick people in this world, the struggle is truly real for a lot of folks, especially blacks. JT’s right, we are the same, we are the human race, the only thing that separates us is our different cultures & upbringings. We should all be treated & looked upon as equals, but unfortunately that’s not our reality…

    • KenyaInFormation June 27, 2016

Justin may not be racist, but I belive he is one of those white people that belive 2016 is better than 1916 and that black people should be content with that.

  11. Danzou June 27, 2016

    Not surprised.

  12. LB June 27, 2016

OMG Black twitter went all the way in. Time to make Justin accountable for that Janet incident. Let him address it, go Black twitter.

  13. LB June 27, 2016

Black twitter better go back into his mentions and force him to address that Janet Jackson incident. I am living for the black community today.

    • Danzou June 27, 2016

You couldn’t possibly live for a community that you’re not even attracted to.

      • LB June 27, 2016

Change the record, you’re boring now

      • Danzou June 27, 2016

Not as boring as your attraction to light people. I’m not taking my foot off your neck. You’re fake.

      • LB June 27, 2016

Then I will continue to pay you dust

  14. Lake Erie June 27, 2016

I don’t feel bad for him at all. We all knew his cultural influence, it just got pointed out last night. Not of it gives him a pass in my eyes. Like someone said, I bet he never thought though. True eye opener but I doubt it for him.

  15. LB June 27, 2016

OMG It’s on right now on kiss

  16. LB June 27, 2016

OMG Rihanna sounds so good, she is serving vocals. Love it so far.

  17. Danzou June 27, 2016

And guess what, white people will STILL support him. White people excuse racism on a regular basis.

    • SMH June 27, 2016

Of course they will, they don’t think he did anything wrong. White people never accept responsibility for anything, instead they manipulate the situation and make the victim look like the wrongdoer. The fact that this boy’s career got even bigger after the SB is stone cold proof.

      • Nate June 27, 2016

Yup. Timberlake is a blood sucker. Superbowls have always been a symbolic event, everything is planned to the tee. Never believe the official story to anything. Industry heads needed to knock Janet off her pedestal of slayage, so enter Timberlake. His reward, he rises as a solo act, while she struggles through a series of bad deals and zero support. He’s always been a vulture…

  18. Cinnamon Girl June 27, 2016

Oh gosh, black people, stop being so petty. If you get offended by what Justin Timberlake, of all people, have to say, then I feel really sorry for you. I don’t see anything wrong with what he said. He just said Jesse Williams inspired him. And please stop it with Janet Jackson. That junk happened many years ago. She was in on it, too. I hope Black Twitter steps back and realize how foolish they look sometimes.

    • KenyaInFormation June 27, 2016

Slavery happened many years ago too.And the fact that you said “Of all people” like he gets some kind of pass.

    • FAF June 27, 2016

I’m confused because he ripped her top but she was the one deciding to do such a risqué move in front of millions so how is he accountable for her wardrobe choice?

That’s like when girls blame men for looking at them

If they aren’t harassing you or threatening you that’s your intent

      • LOL June 27, 2016

UM NO, STUPID. TIMBERBITCH WAS PART OF THE ROUTINE AND LIED ABOUT NOT KNOWING IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN. STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIS PUNK ASSS JUST BECAUSE HE’S WHITE.

    • LOL June 27, 2016

LOL TYPICAL. EVERY TIME BLACK FOLKS CALL OUT WHITE AMERICA’S RACIST BS, YOU CLOWNS AND COONS CALL US PETTY OR FOOLISH, BUT YOU SAY NOTHING TO THE WHITE TRASH THAT HAS CAUSED AND CONTINUES TO CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR THE BLACK COMMUNITY. JANET OWNED AND ACCEPTED ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER PART, JUSTINE DIDN’T AND HE’S STILL BEING REWARDED FOR HIS BIITCHASSNESS. SO GO SIT YOUR FOOLISH STUPID ASSS DOWN LOL.

  19. SMH June 27, 2016

He obviously missed the part of Jesse’s speech where he said to sit all the way down if you can’t offer any real solutions to helping the issues in Black America other than that racist “all lives matter” bullisht.

  20. What Now June 27, 2016

JT wrote this to take the real attention off of the true point and it’s wishing. If you don’t believe me, look at how this post has double the comments as the actual speech itself.

  21. Danzou June 27, 2016

    I cannot stand white people.

  22. Coolness June 27, 2016

Can I just touch on the whole Janet issue? Tbh, when the incident occured 12 yaers ago, I remember being SO ANGRY at BOTH Janet and Justin. Jan moreso because I am a huge fan and I felt (and still do) that it was indeed a stunt that backfired. However, I can now see that the immense backlash she received was a result of racism and sexism. Janet was an ageing pop star and up until that point she could do no wrong. On the other hand, her peers; Michael, Whitney, Bobby and Mariah were going through the ringer with their images being demolished by the media and it was only a matter of time that Janet would receive the same treatment. Was it fair? Hell no but I think she’s over it now which is clear by her not GAF about industry politics.

  23. Mike June 27, 2016

    Wigger please…

  24. #TeamTinashe Stan June 27, 2016

What has he done for Black People lately? Nothing. Never did before too. A real culture vulture that never got dragged yet until now!

  25. Theman June 27, 2016

Y’all need to stfu & get over that Janet shyt. He has nothing to do with the bigger picture. A lot of people just wanted a reason to be mad. Haters. Let JT be. He’s a great artist. People just wanted to try to make him an example..

    • Danzou June 27, 2016

Making jt an example? And what tf was happening to Janet? How is jt the example if HE DIDN’T SUFFER?!

  26. Del June 27, 2016

The heat doesn’t feel so good does it JT? I’m usually not here for pettiness, but I’m glad he finally got stung. I would be ok with him if he didn’t try to diss JJ and Prince in the Give It To Me song, but he was petty AF, so I’m glad his white privileged behind is finally getting read. When Prince died, he was so remorseful. Where was that remorse when you were dissing him? JJ was one of the first Black entertainers to eff with him, but as soon as the fire got hot at the Super Bowl, he threw her under the bus and drove back over her. JJ was supposed to be the devil, but she was the one who never lost any of her class while she was literally getting torn apart for months, even years. I used to be a fan of his, but he’s a F-boy. It’s true that all people should get along and Jesse’s speech was everything, but he has gotten off while never bearing any responsibility for his actions. I’m sure he’ll get out of this one too with an insincere apology. Charlamagne tha God already gave people coming for Justin “Donkey of the Day” on the Breakfast Club because according to him, the Black struggle needs White allies like JT, however, we need allies who will stick with us through thick and thicker, not bail when the first sign of trouble arises and appropriate our culture for a hood pass.

    • Fancy BISH June 27, 2016

      Yaaas!

  27. Neutral June 29, 2016

Jt might be part of the problem and this just in response to what that fan said in his tweet. What about timaland who makes his sound? And hot 97 and even BET who always nominates him for “r&b” record and play his songs. I feel like if JT is guilty for appropriating black culture, the people behind him are just as guilty. Tina Marie is probably rolling in her grave thanking God for not having to deal with some
Of the BS of nowadays lol
