Chaka Khan has made the decision to return to rehab to free herself from her addiction prescription medicine.

Good news below…

The singer and her sister, Taka Boom, have agreed to complete a lengthy run at a drug rehabilitation centre following the passing of their friend Prince.

She shared via a statement:

Unfortunately, I will miss concert appearances over the summer. However, it’s vital that I put my health and well-being first. I know that I am disappointing some of my fans, but I also know they would want me to recover and be well and healthy. The tragic death of Prince has had us both rethinking and reevaluating our lives and priorities. We knew it was time to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers.

Big Story adds:

The 63-year-old Grammy-winning singer says she has been battling an addiction to the same medication that led to Prince’s death.

It’s distasteful to call someone out without good intention.

Good for Chaka and Taka for taking public steps to change, maybe they will inspire others celebrities or not to make the changes they need

This is so sad. Prescription meds are potentially more dangerous than any street drug, in the sense that it’s readily available and accessible to the user anytime they want it. You don’t have to go through the lengths that you usually would to get other drugs. All we can do is pray for her recovery.

Saw her two months ago, everything was a mess except her top notes. Staggering, slurry mess. Hope she gets the help. She’s a deserving legend.
