VH1’s ‘Hip Hop Honors’ definitely missed the spot for fans of ‘Hot Spot’ hitmaker Foxy Brown.

The annual tribute ceremony may have served up epic performances in homage to female rap pioneers Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott and more, but some fans complained the edition had some noticeable exclusions from its list of honorees – namely Brown and Lauryn Hill.

While Hill has opted to remain mum on the snub, Brown has joined her fans in ‘checking’ the music network for not doing their homework.

Read her statement below:

The lengthy quote came shortly after ‘No More Rain’ singer Angie Stone had more than a few words for VH1 for her exclusion as well.  According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Stone (who was part of a ’70s/’80s female rap group Sequence), expressed her disappointment via press release stating:

“They’re honoring “female” Hip Hop legends” said Stone. “We definitely should have been included in the celebration this year for sure!”

One is a thief and a flopppp the other is a washed up soul singer! ha!

    • FAF July 14, 2016

Foxy is the reason Kim went to prison off her diss
She will always be an icon

Azealia owes her persona to foxy

      • LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES July 14, 2016

Foxy Brown is nobody’s icon. She’s a flop bum bitttcch. She’s the original Lil’ Kim clone clown. Oinknika Garbaj followed her legacy.

  2. cocobutta July 14, 2016

Think because it’s the 1st one that all the ones not involved rushing forward but there’s definitely room to do another Honors and people like Foxy, Babs, Da Brat, Monie Love Lauryn Hill etc… can be saluted also.

    • cocobutta July 14, 2016

Plus better to have a cohesive show with less drama. People like Foxy, Nicki, Brat get along and we want it to be a trend not a one time only thing. Foxy impact can never be forgotten as she had guys shook when she was flowing on I shot ya remix and Aint no with Jigga.

    • What you say boy!? July 14, 2016

I can agree but Lauren Hill didn’t perform with the weekend and I think that’s why certain people aren’t checking for her. But even still she is human and I love her. She could have been included but remember not everyone can be included all of the time so I believe a star should go the honorable route and say nothing if anything congratulate the ones who did win because that would make you look ok good and who knows class can open doors.

As for Ms. Chocolate Queen stone I didn’t know she was in a rap group and for her to say that to me is a bit of a reach. Lil eve wasn’t honored yet she went walked the red carpet with class.

Every time a celebrity cried out about not receiveing an award it hurts me because it take away from thier class and I believe it shuts some doors.

    • FAF July 14, 2016

Ps Lauryn is not just a singer she was rapping since the beginning
      Her roots are in lyricism

  3. Grande the Way July 14, 2016

I’ve always seen Lauryn Hill as more of a singer. Foxy was never as influential, impactful, or innovative as Lil Kim and Missy Elliot. Plus she didn’t have the sales or hits. Missy, Lil Kim, S&P, and Queen Latifah are legends because they transcended hip-hop. They became household names. Even people who don’t listen to hip-hop know them. Foxy and The Sequence weren’t.

    • Royalkev July 14, 2016

Ummm, I can’t say it’s fair to dismiss Foxy Brown so fast, if we’re going to credit Kim! Foxy said it best: “you an industry b****, I’m an in the streets b****”! I think Foxy was the rapper’s rapper. Kim was the more commercial star. Still, both scored platinum plaques on their first outings (second as well) and consistently had a decent run three albums deep! Those 2 elevated rap for women together during their era and came in with a bold, unapologetic style. I think both ladies met their match and was healthy competition for each other. Honestly, I can’t think of two more “even” artists!

      • FAF July 14, 2016

All Foxy albums are platinum or gold

If u include Kim u must include foxy period

    • LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES July 14, 2016

Foxy Brown was a Kim clone clown. Her career never advanced as far as it could because she was not a star and couldn’t write her own raps. “Broken Silence” was her last hot album because all her ghostwriters stopped phuqqing with her. Kim has managed to sustain a career and a legendary status because Kim is the original.

  4. livi love July 14, 2016

This is wack,Foxy Brown doesn’t come close to those that were honored that night! And no one even remembers Angie Stone was apart of a Hip Hop group!?!?!? Sooooo they need to have a lot of seats! I love me some Angie Stone but she didn’t make the needle move for Female Hip Hop….Salt and Pepper did! Foxy I only can remember one song in your whole catalog…..

    • LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES July 14, 2016

      Exactly. Foxy is not iconic.

  5. stan July 14, 2016

i like angie stone, but no

  6. Bitchpleaseeee July 14, 2016

    Next……….??

  7. flawda July 14, 2016

Can’t have a 4 hour show. Plus you’re not suppose to be begging to be honored. Both of these women’s egos need to have a seat. You don’t see Jay-z, Nas, Em,etc who have done 100 X more in hiphop begging for honors or awards.

  8. Al July 14, 2016

    VH1 paying homage to Icons………
First of all Foxy, you may have been one of the first hottest female MCs in the game in the 90s but where is your blueprint, that hit record we all know you for, that video?!
Angie Stone…….. Someone give this woman a Krispy Kreme if you was one of the `first` why didnt you carry on? Take a seat Flopsy & Aunt Bessie

  9. Black power July 14, 2016

FIRST OFF…. Missy shouldn’t have been honored twice,, that was there reason for not honoring Lyte bc she had already been honored right?? It makes no sense to honor someone twice when there are others who haven’t been honored!

Foxy definitely should have been honored tho! You can’t mention Kim w/o Foxy! They ran the ran game when they came on the scene diss for diss album for album and no one can downplay that! People always try to downplay her bc she’s very to herself and lowkey ever since she lost her hearing and went to jail but you can’t discredit her accomplishments

    • The Legend Called Missy Elliott July 14, 2016

      Stay mad

  10. The Legend Called Missy Elliott July 14, 2016

Angie Stone’s impact to hip hop is like saying Paris Hilton deserves a Grammy. Girl sit yo catfish looking ass all the way down.

  11. Royalkev July 14, 2016

I agree, Lauryn and Foxy were left out! They didn’t all have to be fit in on one show, but I don’t particularly think the grouping was done properly. I think female rap pioneers should have been celebrated first along with their peers! After that first set you can just move on down the line.

1 Latifah, Salt N Pepa, Lyte, Yo Yo
2 Missy, Lauryn, Foxy, Kim, Eve
3 Da Brat, Left Eye, etc
4 Eve, Trina, Queen Pen, Rah Digga
    3 Remy, Nicki, etc

    • Royalkev July 14, 2016

      ^whoops, I listed Eve twice!

  12. Molly July 14, 2016

    Angie raps?

  13. Rico99 July 14, 2016

For goodness sake she can’t let Kim have any shine. They honor legends and not all at the same time. They had several shows and not each male got honored. Damn foxy this is why the industry doesn’t respect your impact. For anyone to say foxy hasn’t done anything is bs she is a legend and also paved the way for girls. She just has the worst attitude.

  14. Rico99 July 14, 2016

I can easily see this show was a win so there could be more demand for female rap shows. Next year I could see Trina ,foxy, eve, and Lauryn being honored

  15. Queenly July 14, 2016

Lauryns looney ass probably wouldn’t even show up.

    • Abel Minaj (Arianator Barb) July 14, 2016

She probably did show up, just hours after it was when her energy finally lined up

  16. Rihluv July 14, 2016

Foxy didn’t exceed past the 90s … And even then all she ever did was mimick Kim

    • BEYSTAN_ SINCE 1997 July 14, 2016

Actually Foxy Brown did last past the 90’s her album “Broke Silence” was a hit featuring hits song like “Oh Yeah & Tables Will Turn”. Her down fall came around 2003-2004.

  17. July 14, 2016

This is one of the reason Nicki Minaj don’t really f-ck with them, them people only see female unity when it benefits them, Kim and that other chick who was there was always in beef, but they let her there they could have let foxy brown be there too, are honor her if they wanted to, but no Nicki knows whats up, thats why she don’t f-ck with them like that.

    • Abel Minaj (Arianator Barb) July 14, 2016

Truth, Kim stayed beefing with every girl that came in the game but she’s about unity according to her fan (singular)

  18. Abel Minaj (Arianator Barb) July 14, 2016

Foxy was the first female rapper to get a number 1 album, something lil him still has yet to do…

    • Rico99 July 14, 2016

Not Tru Do Brat is . She had the first platinum album. If she could humbly perform and show love so could fox. Da brat is a legend also but you don’t see her throwing fits. I’m sure she will get honored soon.

      • Royalkev July 14, 2016

It was the 2nd #1 album by a female rap artist, the first was Lauryn Hill (who just happens to be the other person people are ticked off about not being honored). Brat was the first female rapper (solo) to reach platinum status.

    • kwinzy July 14, 2016

If were sippin’ similac during Foxy’s era then sit all the way down. Your opinion’s irrelevant. Foxy is a great rapper but there was nothing marketable about her compared to Lil Kim aka The Blueprint. Everybody wants to relive Kimberly Jones’ career moves including your overrated fave. It’s funny ’cause when Fox dropped Ill Na Na ppl were saying she was the female Nas then when Chyna Doll came out she switched up her flow to sound just like Kimmy, especially on Hot Shot.

And who doesn’t do things to benefit them? One love of female rap and having unity is a benefit in itself. You barfz are dumb AF. Try again.

  19. Cops Give A Damn About A Negro. Pull A Trigger Kill A N**** He’s A Hero (Tyler) July 14, 2016

Ummm, Angie Stone has always been more of a neo-soul artist to me. Not so much of a “rapper”. She gives me more of a “Jill Scott, Erika Badu, or Floetry” type of vibe.
Foxy and Lauren Hill definitely should have been included though. Especially Lauren, she’s arguably one of the best female lyricist in hip hop PERIOD.

  20. #JACKIE July 14, 2016

I cannot name ONE Foxy Brown song.

  21. Fact July 14, 2016

First of all Stone, girl where do you fit in as hip hop? She must of meant being invited to sit in the audience.
Foxy has some points but as usual she speaks too soon. I mean, did it ever dawn on her there could possibly be another show? Making it an annual thing, encourage more female MC’s to shine. Messy Inga just messy.
Lauryn Hill is not just a singer, she is an MC and the BEST female lyricist in the game, hands down.
But I could not imagine them bring all them together. Kim, Foxy and Nikki…. Nah tension

  22. Miss Omega July 14, 2016

Hmmm…Lauryn Hill deserves first round recognition, but while Foxy deserves recognition, I don’t think she’s in the same league as Missy, Salt-n-Pepa, Queen Latifah, and Lil’ Kim.

Angie Stone thinking she deserves a spot is confusing AF though.

  23. Pat July 14, 2016

Foxy introduced jay to mainstream truth be told…her impact is undeniable…she’ll get hers next time. His feature on ill be good was the first time a lot of middle Americans saw him

  24. Danzou July 15, 2016

That him Stan stays mad. Little b****. Anyway I’m satisfied with the show. They only have a couple of hours to give a tribute and no one said it’s only gonna be one so they need to stop being so insecure.

  25. TurkeyNoodleSavage July 15, 2016

Foxy is no icon ; she’s great value ! Her 1st album is the only thing that gets credit in the industry ! she got slammed for that 2nd album because she changed her sound and was trying to sound like KIM ! her last album was ok , it went gold . but the singles made no impact . Ever since then its pretty much been down hill for her .
Why celebrate someone who’s not for female unity ? She’s let it be known countless times that she doesn’t fu*k with female rappers . She’s had beef with EVERYONE ! Lil Kim , Remy Ma , Jacki-O , Natina ( from Blaque ) , Left Eye , Queen Latifah , Queen Pen , Amil etc … She can’t touch any of the ladies that got honored . ✋

Nice but don’t no one know that Angie stone was part of a hip-hop hop rap groups in the 80’s
