You know it’s true…Katy and her dancers be dressing up like a kindergarten play. Personally, I have nothing against Katy; I wish that she was on the Birthday Cake Remix instead of Chris as that would’ve propelled the song to Top 40 radio. However, at this point, I think Rih is so far ahead. I feel like Katy has a bunch of hits but they don’t matter in terms of her musical legacy. It’s like she’s just existing. Teenage Dream is not my cup of tea, but it’s one of the most cohesive pop albums of the last decade and has goods songs like ET or Who Am I Living For.
Love her Unplugged album though, I think she’s amazing with a guitar and a mic, but label execs want her forever on Halloween costumes. I want her to take that darker direction she talked about before Prism, with songs sonically close to Dark Horse or ET
Katy is the queen of basic. Not knocking her it’s just her thing and she does it well. However ain’t no one checking for her between eras cause she’s forgettable as hell. It’ll be interesting to see if she brings something new and finally gets that Grammy.
