If you thought the ‘Suicide Squad’s grip on the top of the Billboard 200 was loosening, you thought wrong.  Despite earning some stiff competition from new releases from the likes of Rae Sremmurd and PARTYNEXTDOOR and top 10 mainstays Drake, Rihanna, and Adele, the film’s soundtrack is holding firm to the album chart’s #1 position.

Billboard reports:

The Suicide Squad soundtrack holds at No. 1 for a second week on the Billboard 200 chart…

Suicide Squad earned 93,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 18, according to Nielsen Music (down 49 percent), with 50,000 of that sum comprised of traditional album sales (down 61 percent).

Tuck in below to see who else is occupying the top 25 alongside the top ‘Squad’:

Anti will be in the top 10 for 30 weeks next week. I don’t see this week’s new releases staying, just like all of last week’s new releases, minus DJ Kawho. It’s less than 75K to being 3 times platinum. 🙂

And you’ll be in the closet for a total of #460 weeks as of next week. I’m planning your celebration party sis 🙂

You hear about Birdman getting sued after he bought that 250k car for Toni Braxton? Kiiii that’s his karma for doing Wayne, Drake & Nicki so dirty. But allegedly he’s signing a huge deal with Apple Music so hopefully he does what he’s supposed to…the right thing 🙂

      • Weezy Tha Goat/ Zayn is ? August 24, 2016

I heard he bought a car for Toni but didn’t really care to follow thru with an investigation. I hope whoever is suing his b**** ass gets more then what they’re asking for, he’s been stealing from his artist for decades. And his deal with Apple is not some big multi million dollar deal LOL they’re simply distributing his documentary about Cash Money.

Anti will be out of the top ten next week. And won’t return when blonde, glory, and Barbra Streisand album hit the charts. She’s top ten but only sold 5,000 copies?? Get real. The Navy are a real joke

Streaming is the new black yes.
    Streaming rules the industry now.
Ain’t nobody care about an itunes dowload right now
Everybody stream and everyone create stream platform.
Even jay z and Bey believed a the futur of stream thats why they have Tidal
Anti will be no where out the top 10 she’s holding there for dear life

These numbers point to the declining relevancy of the album as a release format. Albums made sense when you could guarantee $10 wholesale per unit, but in this streaming era, there isn’t much point. Most people don’t stream whole albums at a time, so it’s actually a few hit singles per project being streamed a huge levels that are boosting these album rankings. The industry hasn’t caught up yet, but in a year or two, hardly anybody will still be releasing albums.

The industry needs to kill streaming for the good of itself. It doesn’t matter if that’s what’s trending. It’s still what’s going to kill it. So the head of all the major labels, along with the head of the RIAA, Billboard, Clear Channel, etc. need to put their heads together and reject it. If it means taking away how people prefer to listen to their music right now, so be it. If you rewrite the rules for people they’ll have no choice but to comply,
