New Song: Britney Spears – ‘Do You Wanna Come Over?’

Britney Spears is in a generous mood.

Next Friday brings with it the release of her ninth studio album ‘Glory’ and she’s just served up yet another taste.

This time it’s ‘Do You Wanna Come Over?,’ which follows lead single ‘Make Me’ and promotional cuts ‘Clumsy’ and ‘Private Show.’

Penned by Spears and Julia Michaels, the cut was produced by Mattman & Robin.

What are you waiting for? Take a listen below…

Darker in tone than ‘Glory’s previously released tracks, this lacks the single appeal of its predecessors. Yet, it is slickly produced and the vocals thankfully don’t sound chopped, screwed, and abused.

That really is the beginning and bookend of the “good.” Because sadly, just like ‘Clumsy’ and co, this drives on with no real sense of direction. It also doesn’t demand another listen; which is worrying in itself.

For Britney’s sake, the album needs to pack more of a punch.

With the VMAs and Carpool Karaoke on the way, it’s clear her team are lining up promotion aplenty. But what must always be understood is the fact that such slots should compliment good material rather than exist instead of it.

We want to root for Britney, however these songs are just not cutting it.

Sam you really a hater this is a good ass song I think it’s because she’s not black or something cause if this was Ciara or Beyoncé you would be all over it!! I’m addicted to the song and it’s really good

I agree. This is a got track and ao was clumsy but Sams bias is strong so dont ever except her to admit it

    • Bee August 18, 2016

And let me just say I’m black so I’m not racist

    • Dem Lessers August 18, 2016

      Preach!

    • Janet August 19, 2016

I thought the same thing. For whatever reason the blogger clearly does NOT like Britney at all. This era for Britney is solid and the songs are all promo cuts to go with “Make Me”. I think its off to a great start and I like the sound Britney is going with. This blog write just hates Britney and shits on her any chance they get.

Yo taste in music suck and you shouldn’t be a music blogger cause you always throw shade at everybody who’s not Beyoncé sad! I’m over this site

    • Sorry Not Sorry August 18, 2016

this blog should be renamed ThatGrapeJuiceunlessuaintbey.net

this track is hot and this album is shaping up to be great. Once again, if you cant shed your bias; please stop mentioning her altogether.

Oh pls b****, Methany has released so much better

  4. S****** Blonde August 18, 2016

It’s a good song, but Pop music is so boring these days, like, I don’t feel the need to listen to it again.

Bih Hasn’t Murmured A Note In Years. We All Know She’s Gonna Walk Back & Forth Across The Stage, Stop Every 5 & A Half Seconds & Do Some Dance Moves With Her HANDS, All While Doing Her Beloved Jaw Excerise…LIP SYNC

This is a great track!!! Britney smashed the performance of it last night at Piece Of Me, i read 2 words from Sam’s commentary and stopped reading, sorry Sam, just no this track is sick, slick production, s*** vocals and very catchy hook, great pop music without being cheesy

  7. forever August 18, 2016

Holy hell. This is great. Neptunes vibe

  8. jec2 August 18, 2016

I don’t know how I am still rooting for her….but I am. I will workout to this song. I will continue to pray that she gets her sense of rhythm back.

I agree with the people up top. You have been very bias with Britney to a point where I can’t take these reviews seriously anymore. This is some good, grown, 30 year old music. I think you’re not feeling it because you were expecting a teeny bopping sound, even though she said that this was gonna be very different from the previous music. I’m here for this era

This is what happens when white privilege keeps you 10 years past your expiration date lol.

  11. LB August 18, 2016

Horrible, she can keep this one

  12. Linda August 18, 2016

    hahaha…
It’s sad when this page always bring down other artists and praise boring Beyonce.
The fact is, If you can see clearly, Beyonce keep dancing same moves for over a decade and none of her songs iconic except single ladies and crazy in love.

Now I know why TGJ readers going downhill. 😀

It’s a good track btw. Nice Britney.

  13. Casual-T August 18, 2016

I still think this era is missing a Baby One More Time, a Toxic, a Womanizer, or an Oops! I Did It Again, but this isn’t bad. However, I think it’s time for Brit to grow her sound up and figure out what a hit from her sounds like at this point in her life and career. She’s no longer the fresh-faced t*** of the late 90s and early naughts, but a grown woman in her mid-30s. I feel like she’s circling the airport, but she can’t seem to land.

  14. Mad-on-her August 18, 2016

Most immediately likeable song from her this era. Perhaps would’ve been a better lead single than Make Me, although I could’ve done without the male voice in the chorus. Hope we get the official second single before the album drops, and that it’s a sure fire hit.

  15. Merril Owns August 18, 2016

All the ppl in these comments have to be delusional if they think this song is good. Every song from the album so far is TERRIBLE.

    • Sorry Not Sorry August 18, 2016

      nope

  16. Jay August 18, 2016

If this were bey you’d be eating it up. You seriously have a problemeeting with everything she put out and if you’re so critical then stop writing about her music. All you do is throw shade and be disrespectful. This is probably the most biased site I’ve ever seen. You thought Run the World was amazing and everyone hated it. Seriously what 8th grader runs this site?

  17. Lobo August 18, 2016

The song is boring and forgettable , next.

    • Bee August 18, 2016

      Just like yo p****

  18. Chileplease August 18, 2016

This sounds very early 2000s. That’s all I’m gonna say.

  19. Meteorite August 18, 2016

This sounds like Gasoline from Femme Fatale….

    • Dem Lessers August 18, 2016

I was getting Gasoline vibes too!

  20. Dem Lessers August 18, 2016

This really is a grower, didn’t like too much on first listen. I feel like this would fit well on Blackout which most fans keep asking for, maybe that’s why she’s put some darker sounding fillers on this album. I hope the second single is a classic upbeat Britney song like TTWE or 3.

  21. StrawberryMuffin24 August 18, 2016

    This song is garbage!

  22. eric August 18, 2016

This is the best song Britney has put out ahead of the album release. The vocals aren’t over-produced and even though the music isn’t super original, it’s still good and sounds like classic Britney.
