K-Pop superstar CL aims to make a splash with her American debut ‘LIFTED.’

Having risen to notability by way of 2NE1, the singer was snapped up by US mogul  Scooter Braun – who serves as manager of Justin Bieber.

With tall expectations, can she deliver? To assist her cause, she teamed up with Dave Meyers for the track’s accompanying the visual.

Watch after the jump…

A home-run!

Slick, gritty, and fitting, this was a warm and welcome way to introduce herself to the masses.

We’ve long loved her work and are eager to see how she assimilates into a market that remains typically tough to crack.

We’re hopeful she manages to breakthrough, because we’re in a time when the world is more interconnected than ever. Hence, it’s long overdue for the charts to reflect that.

Is CL the one to bring about this much needed change?

She won’t happen.. regardless if she does have a better week than “460” f** lol I’d say 50k maximum if that in total album sales.

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

Calm down sis. Now… Who is CL?

  6. Asia August 18, 2016

This song is trash though. She only sounds cool when she raps in her native tongue.

  7. LB August 18, 2016

First of all, the song slays big time.

Secondly, I wish black people would stop letting themselves get used as mascots.

I didn’t give Igor, Julisa TimberFake, Jessica Bieber, Molly, XXLtina a pass for this sh1t, this CL chick isn’t getting a pass from me, disgusting.

    • Kevin August 18, 2016

Agreed. Our cultures can make them stars but is demonized at the same time.

    • Dem Lessers August 18, 2016

Yesssss! I was about to comment this. She using black people in her video to make her sounding and acting urban believable. B**** been selling music in Korea for years but never used black people in her videos because she knows Koreans HATE melanin. But at least she’s employing n*ggas so I can’t really complain.

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

Do you know how tiny th black population is in SK? 2ne1 has had black people in their videos when they filmed in the states

      • Dem Lessers August 18, 2016

The population of white people in Korea is small too but they’re constantly being featured in KPop videos and KDramas as love interests and successful. Not saying you’re one of them but we both know the majority of Koreans are very racist towards black people and dark Asians, and fetishise white people. That’s why when they come to the west they only date white men.

      • CL August 18, 2016

First off she has used African amrican before she had the whole Band not only of African American people but African American WOMAN play all of the instruments for 2NE1 concert, who is she supposed to hang around out here in the state when hip hop is the majority is black??? She hangs around with a lot of black artist out here if you don’t know anything shut the f*** up! And just enjoy the f****** muisc! Instead of complaining enjoy the fact that a girl from another country is enjoying and showing love the African American culture and just black music period !

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

        @CL
        i am screaming!

      • J August 18, 2016

Full Asians never crossover in US. Its harsh, but they never pop. The music industry accepts blasians… Jhene, Amerie, Neyo ..all have had success…where are the full asians in US music?

  8. Abel Minaj (Arianator Barb) August 18, 2016

This sounds like some Becky G type sesame street s***, good luck tho

  9. RihNavy August 18, 2016

    It’s cute.

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

      Chyle..

  10. Sherrele August 18, 2016

I like this, it was cute. Very refreshing.

  11. ???????Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??????? August 18, 2016

Sorry, y’all! I tried to give it a chance, but I still think the music wasn’t exciting or served anything new. She has Scooter managing her, so I guess I’ll look out forget, though. I don’t know.

  12. The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

it would be insane for CL to sample method man, rap AND be in brooklyn nyc and NOT feature black people in her video. y’all try so hard to drag her stfu.

  13. Dem Lessers August 18, 2016

Well finally! I thought she was too shook to do anything after the US paid dust to Dr Pepper and Hello Bxtches. I also thought 2NE1 were supposed to be coming back this month. Minzy already left and YG are still playing games with the other members lol…*waits for SNSD comeback and B9*

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

right! but nobody cares for minzy. dara, the least talented member got bigger pops than her. now 2ne1 will be dc3

      • TurkeyNoodleSavage August 18, 2016

Minzy was actually my favorite member of the group .

      • TurkeyNoodleSavage August 18, 2016

And that DC3 comment was a big reach ! Dara is the weakest member vocally and dance wise in 2NE1 . . . . Bom can’t dance for s*** . as a 3piece CL overshadows them both .

Minzy was the only one who’s stage presence actually matched CL’s , if not better .

  14. Barb-wire August 18, 2016

    One word: BYE!!!

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

Your fave literally loves CL and follows her on social media.

  15. Dev August 18, 2016

I like the song and the video, but the problem i have is….. Asia has a diverse culture and it would’ve nice if she showed and introduced people to some of that

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

“Asia” is very broad. CL, like me hails from south korea. and South Korea, especially Seoul and Busan are very westernized.

  16. CL August 18, 2016

So people expected CL to bring a bunch of white/Asian ppl in the bronx while filming a song that was sampled from wutang? Like I don’t get its never enough for people I wish y’all can just enjoy music like back in the days ENJOY AND SUPPORT like y’all ain’t gotta be rude and ratchet all the damn time just Vibe and get f’ucking +LIFTED+

  17. CL August 18, 2016

So people expected CL to bring a bunch of white/Asian ppl in the bronx while filming a song that was sampled from wutang? Do you know how bad she would have been bashed for that? Like I don’t get its never enough for people I wish y’all can just enjoy music like back in the days ENJOY AND SUPPORT like y’all ain’t gotta be rude and ratchet all the damn time just Vibe and get f’ucking +LIFTED+

  18. B_Roni August 18, 2016

I’m a fan and will support her. She is one of the most talented artist out. I love the video and she can put whomever she wants in it. After she performed Hello B##ches live, she rocketed in to my top 3 favs after hey and rih.

  19. B_Roni August 18, 2016

Has it dropped on iTunes yet? I can’t find it.

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

BUT why are you still pressed? i let your edges grow back over the winter vac period

      • Annalise August 18, 2016

I couldn’t be less bothered about you or your small asian-dïck syndrome LMAO. Hunnie you’re the one that’s in my reply box and wasting your time responding to practically every comment about CûmLícker, and I’m living FOR IT! EYE AM LIVING!!! 😆

      • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

lewl, when flacid, it goes midway down my thigh, ask steph and everyone on here that saw it. average, maybe. but small? nope 쫕밥!

      • Annalise August 18, 2016

        LMAOOOO!!!!!! This convo is over!

  21. Hesings August 18, 2016

Um …… Not really sure how I feel about it not for 100% for it or 100% against it. What I would have liked to have seen are things (lyrics and shots) also referencing the Asain community (in its entirety). They in their right have such rich heritage, something that was mixing both cultures. Having Method in video would have been enough of the black references for me but my opinion doesn’t matter. Let’s not forget Asain still isn’t black, yes a minority (not really) but not black. So while we are tackling the whites using and stealing our stuff, let’s just let make it a consensoius that that’s goes for everyone as well.

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

i understand what you are saying BUT, she did bring asians with her in the music video for Dr Pepper as well as rap in both Korean and English for the buzz single: Hello Bi+ches.

  22. Mark111 /.\ August 18, 2016

Not gonna lie, I will prob never listen to this song again. I know it won’t get played anywhere. If utada hikaru couldn’t make it in the Us with her amazing voice and songwriting, then this thing doesn’t have a chance. There’s just isn’t a market for Asian artist here. Sorry.

  23. ow Reddish tran ivy blobukz Need UK timely Ukuyiji August 18, 2016

    Who is she?

  24. lolhart August 19, 2016

She must have had serious some pronuniciation lessons or somebody else’s vocals have been mixed in to mask that Korean accent. Not sure how they’ll react to the video in Korea as they generally hate black people there.
