Melanin’s primary function is to protect the skin from sun damage, but it carries additional benefits that are enjoyed mostly by those with darker skin.

If only the gifted artist that is Azealia Banks received this memo.

For, after she revealed that she had been lightening her skin, the rapper has gone one step further by endorsing a controversial skin whitening cream reportedly designed to work against nature.

A sorry sight below…

So many people have been asking me what I use on my skin. And I’m ready to spill the beans ! I use Whitenicious. Many people have complained of this product not working but with consistent use and proper application of SPF, I have had nothing but safe, healthy and effective results. Whitenicious products are jam packed with all organic vitamins and ingredients and contain absolutely no Mercury, Hydroquinone or steroids. While products with harmful ingredients actually kill your melanocytes, Whitenicious products work by inhibiting melanin production leaving your melanocytes in tact. using all natural Vitamin C, A and E whitenicious products deeply penetrate the skin making for a more youthful, plump, and supple appearance.

Banks took to Instagram to throw her support behind the controversial Whitenicious as she prepares for the release of her second studio album ‘Business & Pleasure.’

Founded by the entrepreneur Dencia, the product’s ingredients came under scrutiny last year when they were linked to skin cancer.

Since then, its sales are said to have plummeted to unenviable lows as consumers seek to steer clear of the brand and search for safer alternatives.

Could Banks’ endorsement turn things around for the self-hating   savvy Dencia?

And y’all stan for this piece of s***. Unbelievable.

    • The Kpop Guy, Matt~ August 18, 2016

      doesnt she bash white people?

      • Love August 18, 2016

        She bashes white supremacy. #TheDifference

    • kwinzy August 18, 2016

As if C-Error didn’t bleach her brown skin and rhinoplasty TF out of her Nubian nose. All celebs do it; AB’s just honestly raw about it.

      • #JACKIE August 18, 2016

Ciara had a few snips, yes but she does NOT bleach. People who bleach have a corpse-ish tint to their skin like Azealia Stanks.

      • kwinzy August 18, 2016

At the end of the day, Azealia has just as much right to lighten her skin as light-skinned people have a right to get darker through tanning. EVERY procedure has harmful effects. Wanna talk about what truly causes cancer?? Fact: The world ridicules dark-skinned ppl for their freewill in beauty while everybody else is outside the box. FOH! Y’all are some hypocrites fr.

    • Fancy BISH August 18, 2016

She was all on Ebro crying her eyes out about cultural appropriation, now she’s WHITENICIOUS lol #FixItJesus

      • kwinzy August 18, 2016

Very dumb comment. AB’s not trying to look white at all, lighter skinned yes but tbh Caucasian pale white skin is NOT poppin’. She’s still brown skinned and a black women at that.

  2. LB August 18, 2016

Well if she is happy and the product is safe, what is the problem?

How is this different from hair weaves, perms and hair dyes that damage natural African/African-American hair?

You’re more than ready to “YASSSSSSS” Beyonce endorsing a hair weave but want to throw shade at Azealia, you’re hypocrites.

    • SMH August 18, 2016

Um, no. There’s a WORLD of difference between enhancing your hairstyle and destroying your biological makeup due to self hatred. Sit down.

      • LB August 18, 2016

“enhancing your hairstyle” really? OK I’ll let you keep that catch phrase so you feel better about that weave on your head.

    • LB August 18, 2016

      Beyonce deserves to die

      • LB August 18, 2016

oh RihNavy, you’ll never grow up will you.

Just so you know, I still think you’re a useless pathetic and pointless waste of space on this earth. You’re a disgusting individual who will never amount to anything beyond trolling random people on the internet.

Now reply with your other 975029750 accounts, p***-ant.

    • SMH August 18, 2016

Hair grows back. Once melanin is destroyed, it’s destroyed, thank you. Continue sitting.

      • LB August 18, 2016

And that makes destroying your hair texture ok?

      • Nahh August 18, 2016

Destroying your hair has nothing to do with wearing a weave are you dumb ?

    • Chileplease August 18, 2016

You sound stupid. How is hair weave and skin bleaching even remotely the same things?

      • LB August 18, 2016

It all stems from self hate, no? Why is one more accepted than the other, it is still not naturally what we are born with.

    • Amerikkka’s Most Wanted ~tyler August 18, 2016

Hair weave doesn’t cause skin cancer , you f****** idiot. It’s a temporary change, not a permanent one that can damage your health.

      • Blue Ivy Rod August 18, 2016

No but it can cause your hair to thin more or hurt your scalp. Not to mention your hair can grow mold if not treated taken out on time. Not the same things but wearing weaves definitely has its disadavantages. There’s nothing wrong with bleaching if you’re trying to even out your skin colour, I find skin bleaching to be the same as tanning. Some people want to be darker and do not share this whole “self hate” issue so if they are getting a pass then so should people who use skin bleaching. Do I agree with this? I’m not sure but the blacklash is unnecessary to be honest

    • Chileplease August 18, 2016

You think people how wear weaves are self hating? You can’t be serious. People weren’t born with clothes, makeup, shoes, haircuts, or anything else on their bodies. It’s a fashion enhancement, not self hate.

      • Chileplease August 18, 2016

        Who*

  3. 2bad2bme August 18, 2016

I knew deep down there was a reason I didn’t support this bih

  4. Ayyseify August 18, 2016

I cannot. This girl is a loon

  5. © Centurion ::. August 18, 2016

Well at least she’s honest about skin bleaching unlike Jay Z’s trophy wife.

    • 2bad2bme August 18, 2016

Dummy Beyoncé has always been light skin.

    • Amerikkka’s Most Wanted ~tyler August 18, 2016

When have Beyonce and Azealia Banks ever been the same skin color ?

  6. SMH August 18, 2016

Black girl lost. What’s really sad is that this fool doesn’t realize that this still isn’t gonna help her nonexistent career. Damn shame.

  7. kwinzy August 18, 2016

No new news here. This blog is so back & fourth when it comes to Azealia it’s like a weird obsession. O.o

    • Love August 18, 2016

How about they praise her when she’s right and judge her when she’s wrong

  8. Fancy BISH August 18, 2016

    MESS!

  9. TheBeysusImpact August 18, 2016

Learn to love the skin you’re in for God’s sake ????????????????????????????????????????????????

  10. Amerikkka’s Most Wanted ~tyler August 18, 2016

This is some s*** that Lovebird or Molly the Ratchet Maid would do.

  11. Indie August 18, 2016

I’m convinced she has mental heath issues! I’m beyond disappointed in her, it was only a last week she was saying she felt that her skin was to light now but she was;t going to go darker until her skin had evened out as the bloxhes and dark spots are all visible without make up. To actually endorse this is the worst thing historically that any Black artist has ever done, I really don;t want to give up on her but I’m so embarrassed and ashamed to be someone that still try to support her. Sad times

    • Chileplease August 18, 2016

I feel the same way. She gives me Amanda bynes. There’s no way she can be perfectly sane. Where are her parents?

      • Indie August 18, 2016

I know right? She needs help and your totally right, she is having an Amanda Bynes melt down, ry the sounds of it, her mother is a little cray anyways, she has an older sister to though, someone needs to help her

  12. S****** Blonde August 18, 2016

    Wow.

    • Fancy BISH August 18, 2016

EXACTLY! And I want to say to you directly that there is obviously nothing wrong with being white or having pale skin…I just had to say this because someone replied to me saying, “Pale skin isn’t ‘poppin’ and Azealia doesn’t want to be white, she just wants to be light skin” and my comment is dumb and yaddy yadda…skin complexion is a touchy subject in the black community, and it has been FOR YEARS..FOR YEARRRS…watch Spike Lee’s School Daze to see what the sensitivity of the discussion looks like! It’s crazy, really…and sad! And frankly, embarrassing! I really don’t know HOW to reply without writing an essay and a half or sounding insensitive…I should’ve just said it’s pure MESS! That’s the long and short of it! Thanks for being my therapist chile lol
