Emeli Sande is back!

The singer-songwriter ends her multi-year hiatus with new single ‘Hurts.’

Full story below…

Taking to social media this morning, the award-winning songbird hatched a teaser for the track, which officially lands September 16th. It’ll be her first release since signing with Roc Nation:

Explaining on her decision to return with the cut, she says:

“I wanted to release ‘Hurts’ first because it felt like everything I’d avoided saying for so long. It’s a real explosion. It’s everything I wish I’d said years and years ago. I didn’t want to hold anything back anymore.”

The launch of Sande’s sophomore’s campaign comes four years after the gargantuan success of her debut ‘Our Version Of Events.’

A whopping 7x Platinum, the LP sold 4.6 million copies worldwide and spawned three UK #1 singles. It served as the biggest selling British album of 2012 and the second highest selling of 2013.

Intriguingly, the immense success and the fast pace in which it was achieved, saw Sande shun the spotlight. She reflects:

“Sounds a bit dramatic but I just wanted to disappear. I just had this overwhelming sensation and realisation everything had to stop. And then slowly it did.”

Rested, ready, and revitalised, the critically acclaimed star is ready to shine once again. She says of her return:

“In retrospect, I was like a pressure cooker waiting to pop off. I had to stop and really look at myself and realise who I was. That’s been the biggest lesson for me, learning to feel comfortable in who I am and what I represent and what I stand for.”

We can’t wait to hear ‘Hurts.’ Her narrative is compelling, as is her pen game. Roll on next Friday!

I wish she didn’t return to the bleached high top, she grew out her hair before and it was a toned down colour and it really suited her. Looking forward to hearing what she has next

Her first album was so good. At least half of it was truly great and her vocals damn great. I don´t know if she can maintain that level. Some voices really suffer after a lot of stress and work, and for some reason hers seems to be that type of delicate treasure to me. More power to her. Hope it is good. We need all the quality we can get in mainstream cause there´s not much of it.
