As her rivals Tinashe & Rita Ora continue to bake fresh material for their next studio albums, Atlantic’s Kehlani generates attention for her next major label release ‘SSS’ this week.

Undoubtedly at the forefront of Contemporary R&B, the entertainer made her way to 106 KMEL to spill new information on the album and the personal changes responsible for influencing its ever-changing sound.

There’s no doubt that the pressure is on the 21-year-old to pull in numbers that match her swelling hype.

How she’s preparing for the challenge?

Find out below…

On my first mixtape, I was really focused on how it sounded sonically. I wasn’t trying to just write, write, write. On the second one I was trying to write, write, write and I wasn’t focused too much on how it sounded. I wasn’t focused on making sure it sounded full. This one, I really took my time like, ‘Every song, I not only have to write really intensely, but I have to make sure that I push myself to get the sonics correctly.

No offense but who is she?

It’s too much to keep up with.

Well, if she blow up, in 10 years you’ll be arguing with numb brain fans who was born like yesterday about your fave, Beyonce. You know it takes at least 5-10 years to be known in the industry. Your fave is getting old and played. Someone has to be new and fresh, if not her.

first of all – this girl got Grammy noms for a mixtape. don’t pin her next to Rita Ora who is yet to prove herself.
“You Should Be Here” is amazing and I’m in love with her singles so I can’t wait.
y’all should post about the Kehlani/JoJo/Sevyn concert tho!

I think she’ll do a lot better that Tunashit. Better voice and dance abilities plus she seems more edgy and less reliant on her s** appeal and Aaliyah comparisons.

I respect this young woman! Kehlani is her OWN artist and I’m intrigued with her debut album. She has what it takes to make an impact with her records. People need to give her Sevyn Streeter, Tinashe, and JoJo their credit where it’s due. I have to mention Tori Kelly as well. There’s a variety of talent and the issue is some people want to pit these artists and create nonsense but complain the lack of authenticity. Kehlani has fans that support her. I see her trying to grow and evolve. I like her record “Crzy” because it really is a motional anthem. Kehlani is a cool chick and I want her to get her shine. Stop piting Kehlani and other artists like Tinashe and let them have their OWN lane.
