When as booked as Kelly Rowland, crafting a new album isn’t as easy as it may seem.
It’s been over three years since the songstress released her last LP ‘Talk A Good Game’ and in the time after she’s gotten married, become a mother, created a girl group, and amplified her acting resume.
Hence, it’s little surprise why the songbird is putting pressure on herself to deliver a body of work that reflects the many experiences she’s been through.
The process, which seems to be “start-stop-start” has proved irksome to fans. For, they’ve been bombarding Rowland with questions about the as yet untitled set.
Speaking with Billboard, she provides an update that might appease some…

What new music can we expect from you?
I’m trying to close out the record by the end of this year. I told myself to stop [doing other things] and just finish it.
What’s so tough about completing this LP?
Just because I’ve been gone for so long. I wanted to take that first year to just be a mother, but I wanted to put out music at the same time. I was fighting myself. So then here’s the second year, and I’ve been recording but I’ve always had some hiccups in between it with other projects that I’m doing. I’m shooting a movie right now, but at the end of this year, I definitely am finishing up this record and I’m releasing it next year. I’m even tired of waiting on it myself, I want to get back on stage, and I want my son to see me on stage. I want him to witness that whole feeling. He saw me at rehearsal a couple months back when I did a video and he was so excited. So the fact that he likes it, I need him to see that again.
Elsewhere in the chat, Rowland revealed she’s working on a book and elaborated on her upcoming make-up line. She also expressed that she’s still hands on with June’s Diary; although she’s allowing the quintet to take the reigns of their own ship.
Fingers crossed that music is her priori as mentioned. Because successful material will help mobilise all of her other ventures.

She tries to wear all those hats and gets solid opportunities to work on all these fronts, but consistently fails to build on any of it. This is the same girl who came out swinging with “Dilemma” and had a practically starring role in Freddy vs. Jason, two things that probably even startled Beyonce, and yet 15 years later they’re still trying to ‘break’ her. Either sh*t or get off the pot.
