Drake Under Continued Twitter Attack After Dissing Kid Cudi’s Depression

It’s no secret that rap has had its share of high profile beefs over the years. From lyrical jabs on on baby mamas and kids to finances, girlfriends, and sexual tendencies, rappers usually leave no stone unturned when trying to “one-up” their opponents.

But, let Twitter tell it, the beef between Grammy winning rappers Drake and Kid Cudi may have seen the former take it a step too far when he dropped a line about the latter’s mental status.

Indeed, Cudi’s self-check in to a facility for help with ongoing issues with drugs and depression was highly publicized earlier this month.  The move was given a fresh douse of gasoline when Drizzy, via his recently unveiled song, ‘Two Birds, One Stone,’ took a jab at Cudi’s reportedly life-threatening condition.

Twitter was not pleased:

Drake’s verse:

You were the man on the moon
Now you just go through your phases
Life of the angry and famous

Rap like I know I’m the greatest
Then give you the tropical flavors

Still never been on hiatus
You stay xanned and perked up
So when reality set in you don’t gotta face it

I’m down 200 in Vegas but winning life on a daily basis
It seems like nobody wants to stay in my good graces
I’m like a real estate agent, putting you all in your places
Look what happens soon as you talk to me crazy
Is you crazy?

Drake ain’t real hip hop anyway

    • cocobutta October 24, 2016

? He would have drowned with the kings of the 90s and early 2000s

      • LISA LEVINE October 25, 2016

DRAKE IS CRAIG DAVID. CHECK THOSE RECEIPTS. HE HAS COPIED CRAIG DAVIDS VOCALS FOR YEARS. 100% POP. NOT HIP HOP. GIRL BYE.

  2. MUSICHEAD October 24, 2016

Drake is a pop star who flows well over lyrics other ppl write for him. He really shouldn’t beef with real lyricists. Stick to dissing Meek Mill’s special ed ass.

    • 1mcluver October 24, 2016

YESSS, to everything except the last part.

  3. kwinzy October 24, 2016

Drake hold this L right quick. How you gone kick a brotha when he already down?

  4. Ladylike October 24, 2016

He’s not right. Why the hell would you speak on someone’s depression.

  5. 1mcluver October 24, 2016

he should be ashamed of even releasing that song and approving what his ghostwriter wrote for him :/

  6. Keri Qween October 24, 2016

It would have been tasteful to not respond back but Cudi dissed him first so get over it. Drake isnt going anywhere anytime soon and yall will deal.

  7. No favs, just here for the music October 24, 2016

What an a**hole. Depression is not something to make light of. It’s serious and people have lost their lives to it. I’m very disappointed. I don’t know about the hip hop beefs or if Kudi dissed him? But regardless I always feel like mental illness is a topic that should remain off limits. He went way too far.

  8. October 24, 2016

that was a low blow drake.

  9. Danzou October 24, 2016

He will be forgiven. Cudi obviously lashed out from what mental space he was in when he dissed him so it’s bold that he would do this BUT light skin and black artists get forgiven quickly.

    • Danzou October 24, 2016

      *white artists get forgiven quickly

      • cocobutta October 25, 2016

Danzou lets not with the racial stuff hun. You’re bigger than that and I’m sure in your day 2 day you feel enough empowerment of self to not feel inferior to nobody ?✊.

      • Danzou October 25, 2016

But it’s true though co. He’s not gonna go anywhere because of this. Skin color does matter in this case as well as many others.

      • Danzou October 25, 2016

But THANK YOU though I appreciate it

  10. Kiii October 24, 2016

Not excusing this because it’s awful but rappers have always crossed the line saying some messed up sh*t, why the outrage now?? Is it because it’s drake?? We should always be calling out rappers/singers who cross the line, and say something foul, not just when it’s drake, especially when these artists expect you to pay for their stuff.

  11. Mark111 October 24, 2016

This is hip hop (kinda), not PBS kids. The only thing that is off limits are children.

    • No favs, just here for the music October 24, 2016

It’s very sad that you consider taking jabs at someone’s depression is child’s play. That shows a lot of your character.

      • Mark111 /.\ October 25, 2016

See, you clowns been on this pop rap, you gotten soft. So listen to some beef in the 90s or even the 2000s. Phuck yo feelings, if you don’t like it, then go listen to some Iggy or Wacklemore.

    • No favs, just here for the music October 24, 2016

And also your ignorance about the severity of the illness

      • Mark111 /.\ October 25, 2016

Don’t care. Didn’t the 2009 one hit wonder diss him first? I’m mad that I’m defending this yellow crayon.

    • Kwinzy October 25, 2016

At the end of the day Drake took a cheap shot. It ain’t like Cudi is gone fire back full throttle, the nicca’s in rehab! Why rehash sh!t that happened 7 years ago? Petty.

  12. Kitty Puurrzz October 24, 2016

This is rap. Anything is fair game. Jay-Z dissed Pac once while he was DEAD & no one complained.

  13. Danzoueshia is a power bottom October 24, 2016

    Drakeshia girl, that was low.

  14. LB October 25, 2016

The hive are just mad Drake has been pissing in the Koolaid bowl with no gimmicks, no Pop radio avengers, no HBO FLOP special that got less ratings than Rob and Chyna on a FREE HBO NIGHT right after GAME OF THRONES, no tacky surprise re-release, no pretentious visual.

    Stay mad pests lmao

    • cocobutta October 25, 2016

Although one disagrees with your comment that damn avi IS BAE ?

    • Rosie October 25, 2016

Literally no one commenting here, nor in any of the tweets posted, is Hive ? your obsession is real. You seem upset that both of them made Anti look like a massive bomb in comparison.

    • BEY>RIH October 25, 2016

@Rosie the bítch is heated at the fact that after 8 whole months, Anti has still not sold 1 million in the U.S.

  15. Danzou October 25, 2016

I’m gonna have to agree. A diss is a diss. But he shouldn’t have waited until Cudi was already in rehab drake is a wimp.

    • The Legend Called Missy Elliott October 25, 2016

      Shut up loose bowels.

      • Danzou October 25, 2016

        F**

  16. cocobutta October 25, 2016

In classic hip hop battle is was never about someones illness. You’d get cursed out about skills, looks maybe style and even real street things but illness and children never been apart of it.
Drake could have gone many places without bringing that up. But he’s candyfloss emotional any so would do a bish move.

    • Mark111 /.\ October 25, 2016

“Oh yeah, Mobb Deep: you wanna f*** with us?
      You little young-ass m************
Don’t one of you n***** got sickle-cell or something?
      You’re f****** with me, n****
You f*** around and catch a seizure or a heart attack
You better back the f*** up
you get smacked the f*** up” -2Pac
      .
      Sit down.

      • cocobutta October 25, 2016

Don’t play dumb did the actual persons have those illnesses? NO!
        There’s a BIG difference.
        Wake up!

      • Mark111 October 25, 2016

One member DOES have sickle cell. Stick to your gay pop music. You’re too dumb and soft for hip hop.

      • Kiii October 25, 2016

It’s true though, Prodigy from Mobb Deep does actually have sickle-cell.

      • cocobutta October 25, 2016

Don’t mistake me for your soft Drake bish. Aint NOTHING hard about him nor his swag. He cant even lock down Riri let alone compete with the hardest real street rapper.

      • Mark111 /.\ October 25, 2016

You been checked. Take the L and move on. Go listen to some kids bob, ol soft @ss.

      • Kwinzy October 25, 2016

You really tryna compare 2pac to Drake, tho? ?

      • cocobutta October 25, 2016

Son calm yourself down getting all hype of your one successful google search ??.
Would you like a gold star?
U aint checking nothing round here. One doesn’t hold Ls they dont exist in my world

      • Mark111 October 25, 2016

Where did I compare the two? This clown said no one from back in the day never used illnesses in beef and I provided proof. Go take some reading comprehensive lessons before stepping to me ma’am.

      • Kwinzy October 25, 2016

B**** nicca your whole premise was to justify Drake even so far as to bring up a 2pac diss. Yeah he went below the belt with the sicko cell jab but last I checked was Drop a Gem On ‘Em not a response record? It wasn’t like Prodigy was in hiding like Cudi. Drake ain’t never been softer! Hold the L and exit stage left before I bury that ass.

  17. Rosie October 25, 2016

He’s such a b****, he can’t even diss come for rappers without being passive aggressive and the one he does call out is in rehab for clinical depression. He’s been a mess this entire year, he didn’t even release any good music to back it up like he did before WATTBA.

  18. Rihboy October 25, 2016

Gimmic. These beefs are stupid! All pr! Now everyone remember kid cudi! Congrats! I suppose when rehab is over an album will drop! That won’t see light of day. Drake will come out saying he never dissed his mental stability; kid cudi will be caught in a photo chillin with him later on. The cycle continues.

  19. Auntie_Jackie October 25, 2016

Hip-hop battles can sometimes include low blows, but that’s only “okay” (perhaps) if they’re equally yoked.

Clearly not the case with these two – and it’s not a creative diss at that.

To go after illness is whack even if it’s sanctioned, anyway. It’s lazy. It’s no “Ether” or “Mama said knock you out” .

  20. B_Roni October 25, 2016

People are stupid. Most of these are the same folks who are calling Rihanna, Beyonce, and other artist names and sending disrespectful messages. Secondly where were all these people when Kid Cudi put out a sin a few weeks ago. No one was interested but now they wanna take up for him. Smh. I’m not a fan of either of these guys but it just amazes me how people think and act.

  21. #JACKIE October 25, 2016

Y’all are some soft ass p******. This is hip hop, that’s what the f*** they do. Plus Cudi came at him first.

    Wow

  23. James227 October 26, 2016

Drake is stuck on himself. He thinks the world revolves only around him. Depression is a serious matter and for him to think it’s ok to diss someone whom is depressed is very ugly. We need to hit Drake in his pockets deeply so he can see what depression feels like. Boycott his music to stop the flow of money so he can see what a depressed person feels.
