The Predictions Are In: Jojo’s ‘Mad Love’ Set To Sell…

Fans of Jojo‘s first two outings, ‘Jojo’ [2004] and ‘The High Road’ [2006], had no clue it would be over 10 years before they got their hands on her official tertiary release.  However, after years of legal battles and working the independent and digital circuits with mixtapes and EPs, the singer/songwriter’s long-awaited third album – ‘Mad Love’ – finally made its way to mass availability on October 14th.

Lined with features from rappers Wiz Khalifa and Remy Ma, as well as singer/songwriter Alessia Cara, the project boasts Jo at her most mature with penning and vocal chops to match.  Showing sharp, yet intentional straddle of the genres of Urban and pop (without leaning too far either way), ‘Mad Love’ is sure to get its namesake from longtime fans who’ve long learned to love the duality of the diva’s deliveries.

Gaining some new fans along the way, tuck in below to see how the public banned together to support the ‘F**k Apologies’ belter’s newest offerings:

‘Mad Love’s Predicted 1st Week Sales:  27-30k SPS

With the numbers above there is a strong chance the ‘FAB’ singer will be making an appearance in the Billboard 200’s top 10 next week.

The figures – on par with many-an-Urban release over the last two years – is all the more noteworthy when equating the full on promo push some of her contemporaries have been afforded…and yet delivered lower numbers than Jo (who’s lacked major label support for nearly a decade).

Hopefully this is just the beginning of the steam on board to push the project.  From where we stand it’s a 5-star effort!

Not bad, she can debut at the top spot of the hot 100

    • Fancy BISH October 17, 2016

She sold more than Justine’s Troll Soundtrack, which debuted at #33, dropped to #71, and is falling like Alicia Keys…IT keeps on FALLIN…INNNNNNNNNN lol

      • Rosie October 17, 2016

Death, all that payola and nobody is checking for this Troll movie.
It’s opening weekend is tracking horribly too.

    • ? October 17, 2016

      She choose the wrong single

    • LISA LEVINE October 18, 2016

RECKLESS and Music. are stone cold hits. Reckless is a mariah-esq throwback with Big Vocals and pure soul. I don’t know much about this chick but shes a “REAL” singer with great range. Underrated.

      • XYZ October 18, 2016

Both are great songs, but they definitely won’t be hits. The general public isn’t checking for songs like that – at least as singles…

      • keepit100 October 24, 2016

Those are vocally “big” records, but this is not a generation that spend based on vocals, i think that I AM, and clovers, as well as mad love could be singles. catchy, vocal, and mainstream enough to impress the average listener. as a die hard jojo fan that’s been waiting on an ALBUM since the highroad, i don’t care where she stands on the charts or pitted against any other artist. i’m just happy we have music and a label supporting her. this is basically her first album in this new era. so much more to come

  2. Sheeno October 17, 2016

OMG!. The industry is done. Im convinced. ???

  3. Casual-T October 17, 2016

Wow! That’s phenomenal for an artist who’s been out of the spotlight for a long time and who’s releasing without the benefit of a chart hit. Before I read the number, I predicted 11k. I think this shows what you can accomplish through savvy online promo.

  4. Chasin Time October 17, 2016

I expected this. Honestly im disappointed some of her songs were Justin Bieber/ Ariana ish I was hoping for some more urban tracks. But JoJo is ‘Mad’ talented and I can’t wait to see what does next with her freedom.

    • Chasin Time October 17, 2016

      *what she does*

    • LISA LEVINE October 18, 2016

      Reckless is rnb very urban.

    • keepit100 October 24, 2016

Your right, the only thing is, when you sing to a major label, they get their pick of songs as well :/ but like you said this is a beginning

  5. SummertimeSadness October 17, 2016

Not her selling more than Jackie????

    • Danzou October 17, 2016

      But she didn’t.

  6. Jay Jay October 17, 2016

Honestly not bad if you compare to “Jackie” and Usher’s latest album.

If she had more hype/promo she could have pushed a lot more

    • Danzou October 17, 2016

It is bad. All three were bad.

  7. Rushonjones October 17, 2016

    More than I expected, Honestly!

  8. Hehe October 17, 2016

People selling 27k first week and y’all call this good?

    • Danzou October 17, 2016

      That’s what I’m thinking.

    • XLP October 17, 2016

Because we live in 2016 where people steal and stream and refuse to buy people albums to protect the “legacy” of their faves…stop daydreaming about 2005 sales and know the reality that a person can be signed to a major label and have a hit single and have a number one cd selling LESS THAN 100,000….This girl doesnt have a HOT 100 hit and just scored a check mate with only 3 prior hit singles over a decade old….Stop being biased

      • Danzou October 17, 2016

I don’t think anyone is being biased, I just think that we’re not understanding that all eras of music had flops. We may not have actually lived THROUGH the 80s and 90s to see the flops happen but they happened. It is what it is, some artists bit the dust. These numbers are tragic. So were ushers. So was Ciara. And anyone else with these numbers.

      • XLP October 17, 2016

But only a hand full of artists that didnt have the luxury of debuting before 2008 can sell. IMO it doesnt matter how low you sell its about if you can reap a profit over your budget. Any artist that cant get across the red line is a flop. Any artist that cant tour is a flop. This new generation has a lot of obsticles that we have to put into consideration. RIAA really needs to give certifications a face lift. 250,000 deserves to get a bronze lol

      • Danzou October 17, 2016

Loo noooooooo not bronze?! But yeah I mean something has to be done but at the same time, what’s the excuse for other artists that ARE selling? The RIAA has adjusted the charts a couple of times but even streaming isn’t helping everyone. If you’re not in demand then you’re not in demand. A big this for this generation is visuals. People want to remember what they’re faves do. Which is why Ciara and Chris have made it so far seeing as they will always be known for giving great visuals as well as bey and rih even kanye as a rapper is very visual.

      • XLP October 17, 2016

You are definitely right about visuals. A artist cant survive in todays climate without it. Ciara and Chris definitely do a good job on that front and a single cant thrive without it. Most times a single fails to impact anywhere without a proper presentation

      • SMH October 17, 2016

Stop fooling yourself. These are horrible numbers no matter how you spin it.

      • XLP October 17, 2016

        @SMH

Again you have your opinion but a.) no one Buys CDs unless it’s a elite artist b.) The insustry been doing a downward spiral since blank cds were invented/m** were invented c.) Stans protected started protecting their faves brand

Success in this industry cant be held in old times standards…

    • keepit100 October 24, 2016

When was the last promo you saw for jojo, the last vma performance, major tv show, etc ill wait

  9. Danzou October 17, 2016

    The album honestly wasn’t good.

  10. Meteorite October 17, 2016

“Fake Aśś Bítches!!! …. Eaten all the food off your plate and don’t do the dishes!!!”

    Preach!!! FAB is so true!!!

  11. The kpop guy, Matt ~ October 17, 2016

Omfg. These people are re-writing the definition of ‘flop’
Didn’t anti do this first week?

    • Danzou October 17, 2016

But anti eventually sold 500000. No shade but where are your k pop first week sales at? I’ll wait.

      • The kpop guy, Matt ~ October 17, 2016

        Ex0 sold 1million in 1st week

      • Danzou October 17, 2016

Do you want a cookie h**?

      • British girl October 17, 2016

        @ this Danzou clown..

How are you going to disrespect him, when you inquired about K pops sales, and he gave you an answer?

I’ve been on this blog for two weeks, and I will say this…you are the most annoying, pathetic ass f*g on this blog. Not to mention, you stay talking about white gays. What happened f*g, did a white guy turn you down?

With that said, get your self esteem in order, you fat fk, and hopefully that will correct your non stop hate.

        Bye!

      • Danzou October 17, 2016

See this is exactly why I can’t stand white gays. I’ve never been turndown by a white gay cuz I’ve never wanted one. If I did date men, I wouldn’t dare date men who smell like pocket change when they’re wet.

    • CommonSense October 18, 2016

Anti has longevity and is 2x certified platinum. Sit your desperate, lifeless, corpse looking a$$ down!

  12. Just Dumb October 17, 2016

This is album is platinum worthy this world only supports there own worshipped favs the best will never win….

  13. JoJoStan October 17, 2016

Where is Jackie’s dumb ass? #19K

  14. Lake Erie October 17, 2016

I’m not even mad. She’ll continue to preservere. Gone head Jo…

  15. cocobutta October 17, 2016

This is the feet getting wet again album.

I want more R&B JoJo than just the Pop version of her skill set.

Glad she’s back again officially with an album out.

  16. Daniel Johnson October 17, 2016

    I love this cd

  17. Rosie October 17, 2016

Why are people in here acting surprised and calling it a flop? I expected 20K max so this is great in this climate, especially with no hit/album in a decade.
Stop acting like it’s still 2010 when every new release did 200K+ first week and singles were selling almost double that number weekly. Streaming was almost nonexistent back then. Vevo literally was just starting and Spotify wasn’t even available in the US yet. Completely different atmosphere.

  18. No favs, just here for the music October 17, 2016

Much better then I thought it would be. I love ‘f*** apologies’ and the album is pretty solid.

  19. Theman October 17, 2016

These are good numbers for her & her album. She hasn’t released an album in forever.. Hopefully, her singles catch on. She’s reintroducing herself. If she had a top ten single she would have sold a lot more. But this is a good start for her. Clearly, she has a fan base….

  20. Star October 17, 2016

Damn, she even did more than “Jackie” ?

  21. Danzou’s S** cream October 17, 2016

Not bad, she did more then I expected.

  22. Blue Ivy Rod October 17, 2016

First week sales are dumb and irrelevant if the person (say Bruno ) can sell 50k first week but proceed to sell over 6 million worldwide after the era is over. I think to fully determine if an album is a flop, wait three months when they’re on the their third or last single. A more accurate portrayal in my opinion

  23. HailLegendBeysus October 17, 2016

Congrats Jojo although secretly I was hoping she’d have gotten 50k 70 with SPS because she truly deserves it. Oh well one can dream! I wish her all the best and am proud to see these #s! ????

  24. eric October 17, 2016

Her numbers will climb with the next album. It’s not her fault she’s had to start over.

  25. fresj October 17, 2016

People are really in denial anyway you slice those numbers aren’t good.
Yes she has a fan base but, none of her singles are picking up at radio or digitally and more than likely she will drop in the following week.
Any other artist who did those numbers would be taunted on here and called a flop.So is it selective criticism or just hypocrisy? Plus the album is meh compared to a lot of releases from this year.
I can name 10 albums better than this one released in 2016,only on TGJ does mediocrity and obscure artist get put on a pedestal.

    • Credits October 18, 2016

It’s her vocals and her sad story long hiatus. Her album may be “meh” which is subjective but no matter how bad you think the material is, Jojo’s vocals can never be denied and she sang her a*s off on this album. So yeah, if I was a writer here I would write good things about her too, the industry did her dirty and she pushed through. And in this climate now, she sings better than alot of these chicks.

    • keepit100 October 24, 2016

Do you hear yourself? You sound so pathetic. your probably mad because people are constantly draggin your fav can we get this man a bottle

  26. Ghudz October 18, 2016

What are you all talking about? JoJo’s Mad Love is sitting pretty at #2 all other albums bellow are interchanging which indicate that she is far ahead from top 3 below and comparing to Hilary Duff’s Sparks album last year which is also her 1st album after 8 long years it debuted #5 in Billboard200 and has sold 39k 1st week, compare that to JoJo 10 years of no album and is aiming #2 debut which idicate should be higher that Duff’s 39k sales, these predictions are not accurate. Pluse Mad Love is sooo much better than Sparks or most of your faves album.

  27. Justafan October 18, 2016

Please release Vibe as a single!!!!!!!
